Chapter 58

Book:Save Me Mate Published:2024-5-1

Kayden’s POV
I dropped the can of beer in my hand on the table beside me and threw my head backwards. I was still trying to immerse myself into working but there wasn’t much work left to do for a workaholic like me who works ahead of time.
Maybe just having a girl come calm me would do things. I did not have the contact of any girl on my phone, no, that was too much of a waste of time.
Davis sent the girls to me.
I picked up my phone to call him.
He picked up at the second ring.
“Good day Alpha….”
“Send me two….” The door opened violently and I dropped my phone.
It was the greatest act of disrespect for anyone in this house to open my door in such a manner without even a knock on the door. It was Cassie, the first thing would have been to punish her but the look on her face told me that it was not time to do that yet.
I looked around her, no Mantha. She was still breathing heavily, trying to talk.
“Where the heck is Mantha?!” I yelled and she pointed out.
“She…”
“Spit out the freaking words!” I yelled at her.
“I think she is going through a shapeshift,” she replied and my eyes widened.
Shapeshift? She’s a wolf? Mantha is a wolf?! All these while I had no idea about it, she carefully hid it away from me that she was a wolf.
I decided not to overthink right now. I walked out of the room, pretty calmly although my steal was quick. It was normal for shapeshifting to hurt a lot in the first instance.
I was led into the garden. Wait a minute… The garden that Diane had especially cultivated but then for a reason, I did not feel too angry at the moment.
I found Mantha there still struggling while I stood still, her scent coming to me more and more as a wolf now.
She finally shapeshifted and right in front of me stood a white wolf, totally white without a single speck of other colours on her.
“Mate….. mate! Mate!” Jay yelled and my eyes widened.
I was surprised….. No, I was shocked! How could she in the first place be a wolf? And now, she was my mate?!
She raised her snout upwards, her eyes looking deeply into mine. It was evident she knew I was her mate too now.
“She… She’s fine… She’s fine now, you can take her in when she shifts back to human.” I stuttered and walked away from the garden in a hurry.
I got into my room and pulled off my clothes entirely. I stepped into the shower and turned on the cold water that was like what I needed most at the moment.
It still seemed a bit weird to me, how could she? How could Mantha be my mate?
“You are accepting her, right?” Jay asked but I kept mute, I was not going to give a reply to that question.
“I am so asking you a question Kayden.” he groaned.
“I don’t want to give a reply right now,” I replied.
“You like her… You love her even before finding out that she is our mate… You need to take her in, is everything not so great now? The one you love is still yet your mate…. not everyone is as lucky as you are!”
“Jay! I love no one and I still yet do not have a mate!” I responded firmly.
“Don’t tell me you are going to reject her Kayden.”
“Then I won’t tell you,” I responded.
“She is our mate and you would have to take her in! You have to!” Jay yelled in my head causing a terrible headache to develop but I didn’t give him any response.
I just needed the time to myself all alone without anyone including Jay interrupting in my thoughts.
I tied a towel around my waist and found my way back into my room. Without an attempt to dry up my body, I lay on the bed.
I hit my head against the dashboard a few times. There was a wolf with me all this while… Mantha was a wolf but she had told me she was an orphan, a beggar and a pickpocket on the streets.
There could only be one reason why she did not tell me about it, she had no idea which pack she belonged to.
She was probably just a loner wolf, she probably feared being killed for trespassing.
I ran my hand through my silky wet hair and slapped my forehead a couple of times.
Her being my mate kind of explained the pleasant scent that she had always had on her.
“Kayden, rejecting Mantha is just the last thing you would do, you know that, right?” Jay asked.
“Oh, I do not. Jay, she kept her being a wolf from the both of us.” I said to Jay.
“Yeah, she did but you already started the likely reasons,” Jay replied.
“It still does change nothing. She lied to me, I… I can’t take a liar as the Luna.” I replied.
“You are simply lying to yourself because it makes you feel good. You rejecting her has nothing to do with Mantha and you very well know that you are simply the coward here!” Jay said to me and I gulped.
“Me rejecting her is what I choose to do,” I replied with a firm stance.
“And that’s you are more of a coward yet again! Take a look at yourself! You try to scare everyone but you are still yet scared of yourself! You are rejecting Mantha, not because she lied to you but because you have always been you!” Jay yelled at me.
“Yell at me all you want Jay, I very well do understand you,” I mumbled to him.
“You do not Kayden because if you do at all… Accepting Mantha would be the next thing you would be doing at this moment.” Jay replied.
“I can not. You might tell me that I am being a coward by not accepting her but no matter what any of you say, I would never take in a mate.”
