Samantha’s POV
I watched the car as it moved out of the mansion, it seemed like my life was slowly drifting away from me. I could feel my eyes go wet instantly, maybe I was simply kind of missing Alpha Kayden or maybe I was just feeling pity for what I was going to go through.
“I think you are feeling pity for yourself.” Cara replied and I nodded.
That made much sense anyway
“Now Mantha.” Miss. Lauren called in a different voice, a voice that did not hide her spite and her hatred for me.
The fact that she called me Mantha, which Alpha Kayden had told her not to call me was proof that she was going to do things to me, things that she could not do when Alpha Kayden was around.
“Isn’t this the beautiful and most favoured maid?” She asked and I quickly turned to her with a slight bow hoping that I would not annoy her during the days that the entire family would be absent from the mansion.
“Miss Lauren,” I called in the softest voice I could.
“Mantha, Mantha, what do you say if I tell you to hand over your phone to me?” She asked and I gulped knowing well that she was planning to take away the means with which I could contact Alpha Kayden.
“A… Alpha Kayden… He gave it… He gave it to me.” I stuttered.
“Oh, that means you can not give it to me, right?” She asked and from her voice, I could tell that she was smirking.
She must feel good, so good knowing that I was under her at the moment.
She raised her hand and I quickly shut my eyes tight, this is it! The beginning of another phase of suffering in my life!
A hand surprisingly patted my shoulder in sharp contrast to the slap I was expecting.
I looked up at Miss Lauren who was all smiles.
“Go in Mantha,” she said with a bigger smile that further confused me.
“Y… Yes, Miss Lauren.”I replied her.
“Good,” she mumbled as I ran off into the mansion.
I met Cassie in the living room, she was pretending to be cleaning the living room.
“Come over here,” she whispered in a way that normally I would not have heard what she said but this time around, I heard her clearly, it was like my ears got better.
“Yes,” I said on getting to her.
“You…” She was about talking when Miss. Lauren walked in interrupting her with the loud click of her heels.
“Mantha,” she called and I breathed in and out before turning to face her.
“Yes, Miss. Lauren.” I said and just then Miss. Melissa walked in, the fake smile that had become accustomed to her face was now gone and all I was seeing on her face was the sincere disgust for me.
In her hands was my phone, she had gotten it from the quarters where I dropped it at.
“Is this your phone Samantha?” She asked even though I was sure she already knew.
“Yes ma’am,” I replied, keeping my face looking at the floor.
Eye contact was disrespectful to these two people before me.
“Nice phone, what do you say when I smash it?” Miss. Lauren asked, taking the phone from Miss. Melissa.
“I… Alpha Kayden… He gave it to me Miss. Lauren.” I stuttered to her.
“During my stay here, I don’t want those unworthy lips of yours calling out the name of Kayden, okay?!” She roared and I nodded repeatedly.
“If only….. If only we were not picked as slaves, we would have been an Alpha, Lauren would have never had the chance to do what she is doing. ” Cara seethed angrily.
This time, she was not feeling much self-pity like me, a human would. She was furious like a full wolf would be… Maybe, just maybe my wolf form is on the way.
“Yes ma,” I replied Miss. Lauren.
“Good,” she mumbled and the next thing that went flying was my phone. I raised up my head sharply and rushed to the flying phone.
Luckily, I was fast enough to grab it just before it fell to the floor. But I wasn’t really interested in saving the phone, I knew it would be taken away from me and still be smashed but I needed to at least get the mobile number of Alpha Kayden, only then. Could I have a little bit of hope?
I quickly went to the contacts just as I heard Miss. Lauren stepped behind me, she was getting really close and in a few seconds, the phone was kicked out of my hands and her heels pressed into the phone, shattering the screen badly.
I gasped as I saw that but then that was what I was expecting, the only regret I had was that I was unable to memorize the last two digits of Alpha Kayden’s number.
“How dare you catch what I wanted to ruin? Is this an affront? You should very well know that I am the greatest authority in this home right now and you… are subject to my authority, so how dare you?” She seethed and her hands went straight into my hair, pulling me up by my hair.
It hurt me a lot but I managed to hold back.
“You cannot show your weakness to her, you are strong,” Cara said to me and that was what I did, my eyes were getting teary in pain but I managed not to let out a whimper, I was not going to give her the pleasure of me crying out loud.
“Nice, strong lady,” she smirked and slapped me hard in the face, a slap that sent me sprawling to the floor.
“I am not cruel and I am not wicked.” she started, stating what was all obvious lies.
“You just countered my authority by trying to save the phone and that is what I punished you for… Simple,” she added and I nodded repeatedly and frantically.
“I do understand your kindness ma’am.” I stuttered and even though I was on my knees and could not see her face, I could tell that there was a smirk on her face showing maximum satisfaction.
“Leave,” she ordered and I quickly scrambled to my feet.
Cassie threw her hands around my shoulders and the both of us headed to the quarters. We were about to exit the room when her cold voice stopped us.
“Cassie, come over here.”
