Chapter 44

Book:Save Me Mate Published:2024-5-1

Samantha’s POV.
“What did he say?” Cassie asked.
“I… I need to go to his room.” I replied and stood up, still holding my phone in my hand.
“I’ll drop this here,” I mumbled quite inaudibly and dropped the phone on my bed.
I walked out of the maid’s quarters into the living room where some other maids like me were doing the cleaning.
I rushed up the stairs, hoping to at least get to him as soon as possible to avoid him getting angrier. As I walked hurriedly to his room, I tried to think of what exactly I did to offend him but I could not remember a single thing that I did.
I knocked on his four with nervous hands.
“In,” he uttered his usual welcome word.
I pushed opened the door and walked into his room.
“I am sorry Alpha Kayden.” I apologized quickly. That was what I eventually decided upon, even though I had no idea of what I had done, I figured out that it would still be just good for me to start apologising and see if I can appease him.
“Sorry?” He questioned and I nodded my head repeatedly.
“I am sorry Alpha Kayden.”
“Now, yourself… I want you to tell me what you did,” he demanded and I pressed my lips into a thin line.
“I… I have no idea what I did wrong.” I replied him.
“Tell me now what you did wrong,” he demanded again.
“I… I have no idea.” I responded.
“You have no idea? So you want to believe that you were apologizing to me for nothing?” He asked.
“You… Your voice over the phone Alpha… It sounded… It sounds so cold so.. so I thought I had annoyed you… In whatever way I annoyed you, forgive me Alpha Kayden.” I replied and bowed deeply.
He went quiet for a moment.
“Did I tell you to leave my room when you are done packing?” He asked.
“I… I am sorry Alpha Kayden. It would never happen again.”
“Yeah, it would never,” he replied in a tone that made me gasp slightly.
Was he going to send me out of his house or just kill me immediately?
“Pick my bag, it’s time for me to leave,” he said heading towards the door and I rushed to his bag, picking it up in my hands.
Immediately I stepped out of the room, he locked the door, glanced at me and walked away while I walked behind him, admiring his back view.
He was wearing a random wear today, not like his usual office code and he seemed even more breathtaking. I get a lot of ladies wherever he is going for a vacation would fall for his perfect body and shape but still yet like every other lady, his coldness would repel them.
We were starting to walk down the stairs when my eyes caught sight of Miss. Lauren was dressed up beautifully and she had a huge smile on her face but this smile disappeared as soon as she saw me.
She seemed to realize that I was coming from Alpha Kayden’s room and she hated me for that.
Kayden’s POV
When she apologized back in my room, I had thought that she had done something, something that could tell me what the mystery behind her was and that was why I tried to play along to see what information I could get from her but then she was simply apologizing just in case she annoyed me.
I heard her footsteps pause and I turned back slightly to see her staring at Lauren, Lauren however returned the stares with definitely hateful glares that made me feel reluctant once more to leave her in the hands of Lauren.
I mentally shrugged it off and walked on, Mantha following after me.
I took my seat on the sofa.
“Good morning Alpha Kayden.” Lauren greeted me, tucking her hair behind her ears.
I gave no response. Mantha walked to my side and stood by me holding my bag in her hands.
“Good morning Miss Lauren.” she greeted but Lauren just have her a cheeky smile, a smile that I very well knew to be fake.
“Mantha, drop the bag,” I ordered.
“Yes Alpha,” she replied, dropping the bag at her feet.
“Nice name but… Why do you call her Mantha when everyone calls her Samantha?” Lauren asked and I turned my head to look at her.
” I call whoever whatever name I wish to,” I replied to her and she nodded repeatedly.
“I… I was just trying to know,” she said but I gave no response to her.
“Good morning.” mum said, climbing down the stairs with Dad in her usual cheerful state.
“Hey Samantha, you are looking tired, were you stressed too much by Kayden?” Mum asked in a way that naughtiness dripped from her words.
“No… Not at all, ma’am.” Mantha replied, definitely not getting a grab of what mum meant.
“Kayden can be demanding.” mum laughed and I shook my head slightly.
“It is time to leave,” Dad said, passing onto Mantha seemingly hateful glares.
He was still pissed about her spilling water on mum, I guess.
“Mantha, hand over the bag to me, I would escort them,” Lauren said to Mantha with outstretched hands but a glare from me was enough for her to withdraw her hands.
“No one calls her Mantha apart from me,” I said to Lauren and faced forward once more.
“Mantha, follow me,” I said and led the way, moving to the car garage.
We all got there and I collected the bag from Mantha and threw it into the backseat of the already opened car.
“I would escort you to the airport, is that fine Alpha Kayden?” Lauren asked.
“Not fine, Mantha follow instead.”
“Mantha won’t go as long as Lauren is not going.” dad interceded and I gritted my teeth.
I got into the car and watched Mantha’s sad eyes, her eyes carried an amount of sadness that could hardly be quantified.
“G… Goodbye Alpha Kayden,” she mumbled with a bow and when she raised her head there was a slight trace of tears in her eyes.
“Call me if anything goes wrong,” I mumbled as the car slowly moved away.
