Kayden’s POV.
I had seen very clearly Lauren push Mantha towards mum and I could not understand why Mantha did not want to let it out that Lauren had pushed her instead she was there again, on the floor pleading.
Her already swollen forehead hitting against the floor, I could only imagine how much it would hurt a human to hit a swollen forehead against the hard tiled floor.
“Dad I would take responsibility,” I said, getting up from where I was seated, I pushed back the chair I was sitting on and looked up at Dad, he looked kind of surprised or would be shocked to fit his expression more.
I walked over to Mantha and stood beside her.
“Get up, I am going to get you punished myself for being careless,” I said to her in my usual cold manner and she slowly got up.
“I would be leaving now,” I said and have Lauren a look that told her I knew about what she did and I would be on the lookout for her, she simply lowered her head, perhaps in shame.
I headed over to the stairs and I could hear her footsteps following after me quickly. I could only imagine how scared she must have been by my dad.
I headed up the stairs and she followed behind till I got to my door, I opened it up and pushed the door open.
“Get in,” I said to her.
“Y… Yes sir,” she replied in a voice that seemed more distant, farther from me.
She took three steps forward into the room and I followed after her, shutting the door behind me.
I took my seat on the bed and watched her standing figure with dropped shoulders that seemed like one who had lost hope.
I sighed softly and grabbed a balm that was just on my bedside table.
“Here you go,” I said to her and she looked at my hand.
“W… What do I use it for sir Kayden?” She asked.
“You do not have an idea what a balm is being used for? You love your forehead being swollen?” I asked her and she slowly stretched her hands before suddenly retreating her hand.
“I am sorry Alpha Kayden but I cannot receive this precious thing from you,” she said.
“Have it and take care of your swollen forehead,” I replied her.
“I am sorry Alpha Kayden, I am a maid and I do not deserve such luxuries as things that are yours,” she replied.
“What do you mean?” I asked, dropping my outstretched hands.
“I dare not mean to annoy you Alpha Kayden but… But I cannot… I cannot receive this from you… It’s too precious for a maid to receive.” she replied.
“I am not giving you an option here, take it from me,” I ordered and she stretched her hand slowly and took it from me.
“You caused this to yourself, how could you have been so stupid to apologize on two different occasions?” I asked her and she kept mute.
“When I am talking to you, you reply,” I said to her and she nodded vigorously.
“Words Mantha.” I requested.
“Yes Alpha Kayden.” her voice came cracking.
“Why did you apologize on behalf of one who almost put you in trouble and another who deliberately pushed you? You could just have pointed out to her.”
“I… I am just a maid. I… Miss… Miss Lauren just have pushed me by mistake.” she replied and I groaned.
“Is this how you want to be bullied?” I asked.
“I am… I am. sorry Alpha Kayden,” she replied and I breathed in and out.
“Heads up,” I mumbled, glancing at my wristwatch.
“Yes Alpha Kayden,” she replied obediently and raised her head slowly, bringing her forehead into view.
It had gone totally red and there was a bit of blood oozing out from it, she quickly wiped away the blood from her head.
“Why can’t you just try to protect yourself before you protect others?!” I scolded her and she lowered her head again.
I sighed and brought out my phone from my pockets. I sent a message to a doctor.
“The doctor would soon be here, would you just wait here to receive the treatment?” I asked before I could realize how weird that question was.
“I… I would go to the quarters instead Alpha, I would not want to stay here for long so I do not annoy you Alpha Kayden,” she said and I waved my hand, telling her off.
“Thank you so much for the kindness Alpha Kayden,” she replied and headed out of the room.
I watched the door close after she and I shook my head, closing my eyes momentarily. The image of her swollen head came to my mind again.
“That isn’t good to look at,” I said to Jay.
“It really wasn’t, she should really stop being that way but then Kayden, what exactly are you doing about our mate?” Jay asked and I threw my head backwards.
“Not now Jay.” I groaned.
“When then? When you turn age 60?” He asked.
“We can talk about this issue later on,” I replied him.
“It has always been later on and I choose today, right now as my later on,” he replied.
“What do you think I should do to Lauren?” I asked, trying to change the topic and I was successful.
“That girl… I can hardly believe that is the once lovely Lauren.” he groaned.
“I know, she just came up with the topic of her liking me and the next thing, she was being obsessed and too clingy, I just have no idea what to do to get her off me,” I mumbled.
“And now, every one of us would be leaving home including old Granny, Lauren has been trying multiple times to get at Mantha, she would take this opportunity,” I added.
“That is the particular reason why she refused to follow you all to the vacation,” Jay said to me.
“A warning to her should be sufficient,” Jay said to me.
“You think that would be enough? Lauren knows that she has the support of the entire family especially mum.” I replied him.
“But then I have no other thing I can do right now other than that,” I mumbled and my mind linked with Lauren.
“To my room.”
