Samantha’s POV
“Ouch, that hurts.” I winced.
“Isn’t this the brave and passionate lady who apologized on behalf of her enemy?” Cassie asked with a hint of sarcasm in her voice.
“C’mon, do not mock me.” I groaned as she massaged the spot.
“You are using too much pressure,” I grumbled to her.
“Pressure? Didn’t you use too much pressure to hit the floor?” she asked.
“You are still mocking me.”
“She has to massage it hard or else your forehead is going to get swollen, do not ruin this perfect face,” Cara said.
“Do not flatter me, Cara.”
“I am not, I am simply flattering myself,” she replied.
“Samantha, what do you think of Alpha Kayden’s reaction to you apologizing on her behalf?” Cassie asked and I sighed softly.
“I think he reacted the exact way expected from him, c’mon he is Alpha Kayden and who am I? A maid, I knew he wasn’t going to listen to me. Why would he change his decisions because of someone like me?” I asked no one in particular.
“But then he should have at least stopped you from hitting your forehead on the floor,” Cassie said and I say up on the bed.
“Who is this man we are talking about? Alpha Kayden, the fact that he did not include me in the punishment is enough grace for me.” I said to her.
“That’s right, no one dares to beg him except for his mother,” she replied.
“Now let’s stop talking about him, I do not want to get in his trouble,” I said and laid back on the bed while Cassie kept on massaging my forehead.
“Did you hear?”
“Alpha Kayden eventually let go of Kira.” a girl said gossiping about the girl who took the keys.
“Really? What could be the reason he eventually changed his mind? Could it…. could it be Samantha?”
“Of course not!” I yelled out.
“Of course, it’s not because of you, his mother, such a kind woman, she pleaded on Kira’s behalf but Kira has been sacked. how could Kira have even done that? Stealing Alpha Kayden’s keys! She is too brave and has a whole lot of guts.” the girl gossiped on.
“I want to have a short rest,” I said to Cassie and she nodded with a small smile before leaving my bed for her bed.
I closed my eyes and waited for the goddess of sleep to take me away and reduce the pains I felt on my forehead.
Hours passed before I was awoken by Cassie.
“Hey get up,” she said, shaking me up gently and I groaned lightly, standing up from where I was lying.
“Get up, we have to join in the kitchen today,” she said and my eyes widened, affecting my hurting forehead.
I rubbed it lightly in pain.
“it’s a bit swollen now,” Cassie noted out and I sighed.
“Forget about it,” I said, getting up from the bed
“I do not know how to cook… I… I have never cooked before.” I said to her.
All my life, I have been nothing but a slave, being served soup and bread all year round, how could I know how to cook delicacies?
“Of course, you are not going to cook, you are just going to serve the food, only the chefs cook, the maids handle some little things but as for me and you, we only have to serve the food,” she said.
“But then… I would have to see the entire family of Alpha Kayden?” I asked and she nodded her head.
“Oh no.” I gasped.
“Don’t be scared, you have seen the coldest of them all so why be afraid?” she asked and held my hands.
We walked hand in hand to the kitchen and the sweet aroma that wafted up to my nostrils was just too pleasing that it made me forget the pains on my forehead momentarily.
“Delicious food those are,” I mumbled.
“Do you expect lesser from the foods that are being served to the family of Alpha Kayden?” she asked and I slowly nodded.
“They deserve no less,” I replied and we set to work.
We began carrying the food to the dining room and laid it out, I was not good at serving the dishes but Cassie was there to help repeatedly.
Just as we laid down the last set of dishes, the family and Miss. Lauren, Alpha Kayden’s supposed best friend walked over to the dining room with Alpha Kayden being the last to take his seat.
I and Cassie stood there and I wondered if we would not go back to our quarters since we were done dishing but since Cassie stayed, I decided to do the same also.

Kayden’s POV
After the bath, I decided to go downstairs for my meal. If I am super fortunate, dad would not bring up the mating issue today or maybe he would not even come downstairs for dinner.
I dressed up casually, wore a flip flop and walked out of the room. Just as I alighted the stairs I caught sight of Mantha, she was looking in my direction but at once looked to the floor immediately she noticed my presence.
I licked my lips wet, and walked over to the dining table, her forehead was not clearly in sight but I could still catch a glimpse of it, it was a bit swollen.
I gulped at the sight, perhaps if I had let her know earlier that my decisions do not change, she would not have had to go through hitting her head on the floor.
“Why am I even feeling kind of guilty? She is the one who was stupid enough not to care about her forehead but instead considered it minimal in comparison to her enemy.” I mumbled underneath my breath.
“Hello” Lauren greeted but I merely ignored her.
Mantha moved towards my meal slowly with steady steps and opened up my meal.
“Here you go Alpha,” she said with a small bow as she opened up the other food.
“Samantha, how are you doing?” mum asked.
“Doing very fine ma’am,” she replied.
“Are you sure? How did you get a swollen forehead?” mum asked.
“Forget about her, she was just being stupid. Let’s eat.” I replied mum and grabbed my spoon.
“So Kayden.” Dad started and I sighed.
“Yeah, he should talk to you about your mate more,” Jay added.
“Jay.” I groaned.
“Our family vacation for this year is coming up in the next two days, you remember?” Dad asked and I was so damn grateful that he was talking about something different.
“I almost forgot about it but I do remember now,” I replied and just then my mind wanders off to Mantha, who was going to make sure she does not get bullied multiple times before I get back.
Well, there’s Granny to make sure of that.
“And this time around, we have decided to take Granny along with us.”
Hell!
