To my surprise, Zhang Yue picked up the phone and admitted it.
She was as indifferent as usual and even took it for granted not to pay for my brother’s treatment for avoiding unnecessary expenses.
What she said almost drove me crazy. Unwilling to hear her go on, I hung up in rage.
I squatted in the corridor for a while with the phone in my hand until my grief was replaced by a surge of rage.
Since I was the immediate family of their patient as well, I wondered why these doctors kept it from me when Zhang Yue discontinued his treatment.
I had made it clear to them that they should keep me informed if anything happened to my brother!
It made me feel both disappointed and confused. At the thought of this, I was filled with indignation for this hospital.
Needless to say, I wouldn’t spare Zhang Yue either.
Actually, I had been used to this cold fish’s indifference.
However, it was totally unforgivable that she should have done such a thing!
I rushed to my parents’ house like a gust of wind.
When I arrived, only Zhang Yue was at home by herself.
I slapped her in the face heavily without saying anything.
“You machine!” She froze for a while before realizing what was happening.
She began rushing towards me before her voice died away. But before she could fight back, my hand had landed on her face again without mercy.
Two slaps was far from enough to dispel my deep hatred of her!
I kept on slapping her in the face and didn’t stop even when my hand had gone numb.
In the end, her red and swollen face showed an expression of horror.
I also saw my bloodshot eyes and ferocious look in her pupils which were filled with anger and horror.
I could hardly recognize myself!
While I was watching my reflection in her eyes in a daze, Zhang Yue broke free and suddenly pushed me to the ground. She then picked up the lamp next to her and kept on pounding at me with it.
My scalp was split open and started bleeding at once, making me feel dizzy.
“Bitch! It was I who discontinued your brother’s treatment, and so what?! He deserves to die, just like you!”
Zhang Yue was obviously worn out, but she still held the damaged lamp with a hand while squeezing my throat with another one.
Finally, maybe because she was disgusted at the sight of the blood stains on my face, after giving me a few more blows, she let go of me and began to smooth her clothes.
Her words aroused the intense hatred in me. Ignoring my wound, I suddenly jumped up and knocked her down before I punched her with my fists as if pouring rain on her.
“You can do whatever you want to me, but if you dare to hurt my brother, I’ll kill you even at the cost of my life!”
After a short while, Zhang Yue began to beg for mercy while screaming with pain.
I didn’t want to waste more time on her, so I kicked her away with a sneer. After wiping the blood off my forehead, I rose to my feet.
I shivered with pain, but I didn’t want to look weak in front of Zhang Yue, so l managed to stand upright before leaving without even looking back.
Thankfully, as there were few people in the street at night, my discomfited appearance didn’t attract much attention.
After returning to the hospital, I treated my wound briefly before heading straight for Doctor Li’s office.
“Doctor Li, I want to transfer my brother to another hospital. Please help me with the formalities.” I was mad at him for not informing me of my brother’s condition in time, but after all, he managed to save his life, so I had a neutral attitude towards him.
Looking at my poker face, he didn’t seem to be surprised. He nodded in agreement with a long sigh. “Wait a moment, please.”
