CHAPTER FIFTY-NINE.
Jamal could not wait for the day to come and end already. Since Adele called him to report what Danielle and his mother did to her that afternoon, his mind had not been at ease and he knew it wouldn’t be until he spoke to them.
He was planning to deal with Danielle some other time, but for his mother, he could not wait to go home and give her the scolding of her life.
He was doing everything in his power to win back her love and trust. To get her to give him a second chance. But his mother and Danielle wanted to ruin everything for him.
He could only imagine the terrible things they said to her given how much they hated her. His mother had never said any kind words to Adele since the day she was brought home by grandma.
“This is too much, mother. You are going to get it hot from me when I get home.” He whispered to himself in the back seat of his car. He asked his driver to take him home because he was not in a stable state to drive himself.
Once the driver parked in the driveway, Jamal bolted out of the car and marched into the living room.
“Mother!” He scolded once he was in and the servants around scampered away when they sensed the danger in the air.
“Mother!” Jamal called yet again and his mother came running from the kitchen.
“Jamal, what’s wrong?” She asked, worried as she stood at a distance. Jamal quickly turned to face her and the moment his eyes landed on her, his stomach churned in anger.
“Mother.” He called yet again and this time around, his voice was calm. He did not want to be the one to start raising his voice .
“Here I am Jamal. What’s wrong?”
“What’s wrong?” He questioned, almost in a whisper as he took calm, calculated steps over to where his mother was standing.
“Yes, what’s wrong.”
“Adele called and told me what you did to her. That’s what’s wrong.” He calmly stated and Aliya let out a loud hysterical laughter.
“Oh that! Of course she told you we had a little chit-chat. What a cry baby.”
“Mother, I know you. What you had with her was no chit-chat! You clearly insulted her!”
“I did not insult her! All I asked her to do was to stay away from you, that’s all!”
“Stay away from me?” Jamal asked and scoffed hard. “Mother you really shouldn’t go around saying things you have no idea about!”
“And what the hell do you mean by that? I know exactly what is going on. She left you after a minor problem and now that she knows you are way richer and more powerful than you used to be, she wants to come back into your life. I won’t accept that. I won’t let that gold-digger come back to this house.”
“Mother!” Jamal scolded as he took a step closer to her. “Stop calling my wife names. My God! Is this what you said to her? Did you call her a gold-digger?” Jamal asked, worried.
“And what if I did?”
“Mother! I swear to God this is getting out of hand.”
“What’s going on here?” Mr. Dominick asked as he walked into the living room. “Jamal, why are you raising your voice at your mother?” He scolded and Jamal, who was standing between them, turned to look at him.
“Father, thank God you are here. I need you to tell mum to stop harassing my wife. To stop calling her names.”
“I did not call her names.” Aliya lied. “That girl is nothing but a blatant liar. She is trying to drag my name in the mud, she is planning to turn you against me!” She said crying, but Jamal wasn’t moved by her tears one bit. He just shook his head and focused his gaze on his father.
” She went over to Adele’s apartment and confronted her in the driveway. Father, you know your wife. you know the kind things she can say to someone she dislikes. Adele called me this afternoon to report the issue and she was in tears. Mother must have said all sorts of horrible things to her!”
“That still doesn’t give you the right to scold your mother as such. No matter what, she is still your mother and you have to respect her.”
“And what about my wife? Is she not supposed to respect her as well? Or am I not supposed to defend my wife when someone does something that makes her cry?” Jamal asked fiercely and his father went mute. “Answer me father!” Jamal demanded and his father looked up at him, totally short of words to say.
“You know what? I’m sick and tired of all this. Your days in this house are numbered.” He announced and Aliya’s eyes shot wide open in shock
“What?” She said almost in a whisper.
“Yes, you heard me right.” He said looking from his father to his mother. “The moment I win Adele over again. The moment I bring her back to this house, you both are going to leave since you have deliberately refused to accept her as your daughter-in-law and that is final!”
“Jamal!” His father called in a firm tone and he turned to look at him, but did not say a word. “Let’s talk in my office, right now!” He commanded and Jamal quietly followed him to his office upstairs in their chamber which was on the third floor.
“Have you lost your mind?” Mr. Dominick asked the moment they both walked into the office.
“I should be asking you that question, father.”
“How dare you vomit such an absurd thing? How dare you threaten to throw your mother and I out of this house.”
“Because it belongs to me now and the two of you refused to respect my wife who is now the rightful owner of the house as well. Father I can’t believe you took mother’s side down there even when you know what she did was wrong!”
“What was I supposed to do, take your side? Take Adele’s side?”
“You were supposed to handle the situation fairly, not take sides. My God, father, what is wrong with you?” He asked, agitated, but his father said nothing. He simply walked over to his office table, where he made himself comfortable on the chair and pointed to that which was opposite his table.
Jamal was not in the mood to talk with his father. He wanted to go back downstairs and continue scolding his mother, but he obeyed his father and sat down.
“Dad, I’m not in the mood for any Ted talks right now. All I want is to go down there and continue my conversation with mum. She has to know that what she did to my wife was wrong. Someone has to tell her and if you don’t want to be that person, then I will be the one to do so!” He firmly stated, his nostrils flaring in anger.
His father calmly placed both hands on the table and intertwined his fingers together while giving him an intense look.
“We will do that once we are done discussing what I want us to discuss.”
“And what do you want us to discuss?”
“How you found out.” Mr. Dominick vaguely stated and Jamal gave him a confused look.
“How I found out about what?”
“The fact that I had a hold on you.”
That’s when Jamal’s brain clicked. He was talking about the traps he had set for him in the past. The traps Danielle had helped him escape.
“Oh… you mean that?”
“Yeah.”
“How I found out is not important. The most important thing is that I found a way to break loose from your hold and now I’m free.”
“Aren’t you going to ask me why I did it?”
“Because I already know.” Said Jamal, as he shrugged his shoulders. “You saw how competent I was, how much I devoted my time to working for your conglomerate and you got jealous. You did want me to ever think of leaving so you made me sign documents that will implicate me if I thought of leaving your conglomerate. You wanted me to stay and work for you, forever. Isn’t that it?” He asked with raised brows and his father bowed his head down in guilt.
Jamal chuckled and rose from the chair he was seated on.
“When I found out what you had done, I promised myself I was going to break loose from your chains and I also promised myself that I was going to get everything you own away from you, including Dominick Co and right, that’s exactly what I have done. You have nothing in your name, you are at my mercy, just like I was one year ago. I didn’t do this for myself, I did it to avenge my dead son and broken marriage.”
“Jamal I…” Mr. Dominick started to talk, but Jamal cut him off.
“There’s nothing else for us to discuss about, father and don’t you worry, there’s never a day I’ll leave you or mother stranded, you both are my parents and I respect you a lot. I will take good care of you both till your last days on earth, but I just want you to know that as of now, I am in control. Make mother understand that for me. I have a flight to catch in thirty minutes.” He Said and left the office before his father could say anything.
