“You’re annoying, Celestine, I thought we’d be best friends here but you’re not telling me anything about Ervic.” I smugly scolded Celestine.
“Excuse me, the last time I checked you and Ervic were often together and not us.” I roll my eyes at Celestine. “You’re best friends, aren’t you?” To which she laughed.
“Crazy head.”
We are here today at the mansion because she visited me and I scolded her because the insane already knew the truth about Ervic. And his ideas before were not for me but for Ervic. To help him grab the chance with us.
“You are so blinded by Enrique that you see nothing but him. Even other men who show value and motives to you, you don’t notice because you are like a horse whose eyes are covered so that they can only look straight ahead.”
“Wow, is it still my fault now? I hope you say it so I would be aware.”
“What if you knew he had a chance?”
“No, but at least I avoided him and didn’t hurt him. It got worse because it took him a decade to hide his feelings for me. Then he got nothing.” I leaned back on the chair while sighing.
After I found out the truth about Enrique, I stopped calling Ervic. He didn’t make me feel anymore and Enrique told me that Ervic already knew that I knew the truth. He also said that he won’t be able to come to Ixora’s birthday because he doesn’t want to see me.
Maybe the right thing to do is to distance myself from him. I don’t really know the truth and I have no idea that it is. Even if I say that I am innocent, I still hurt him, so I still feel guilty.
If I used to be happy to be friends with him, now I feel sorry. I didn’t think that his hugs to me were malice and not just love as a friend.
I don’t know how to get back at him now. How I will deal with him in our next meetings? I hope-I hope that when we meet again, he will be free and able to move on so that I can face him without guilt.
“Feeling guilty?” My attention returned to Celestine and then made a face.
“Yeah.”
“Don’t be. It’s not your fault, you’re not at fault. It was his choice to love you secretly and you didn’t ask him to. You are not aware so you are not responsible. He wanted something then, not you. Unless you already have a hint but you still stay and let him.”
“Are you stupid? what do you think of me Heartbreaker?”
“So don’t feel guilty. Because you are innocent. It’s his fault because he knows you only want one but he’s still hanging around you. He hurt his feelings, not you.”
“I hope he can find love.”
“Well, I hope it was Amethyst who gave it then. Based on what I saw, there was something between those two.”
“Sorry to keep you waiting, Celestine.” Enrique came and sat beside me.
“It’s okay, I’ll talk to your wife while you’re gone.” Enrique looked at me so I smiled at him.
“About what?” he asked.
“Anything, then about Ixora’s birthday,” I answered.
“By the way, thank you for helping my wife, Celestine. These past few days I’ve been a bit busy. I can’t keep up with him and aside from that I can’t relate to the theme and other things.”
“Small thing, no problem.”
“So let’s proceed to the topic?”
“Go ahead.”
They were talking about business. Enrique just held my hand while his hand wrapped around my waist. Every now and then he squeezes my side and simply kisses my shoulder. My flirt friend even smiled because it was obvious that my husband was flirting with me.
I don’t understand anything about their topic. As long as I know about soil, crops, compost, and so on. When Enrique explains, Celestine listens and sometimes asks questions. Until I heard them say ‘That’s it, and it’s close.’
“I can’t believe I can work on agriculture, it’s fun, I swear,” Celestine said and drank her juice.
“Oh, excuse me, I will take something.” Enrique stood up and left us.
“Your husband is good, isn’t he? Is he also good in bed?”
“What?” But he laughed before answering.
“It’s obvious that every kiss with you has a chill. So anytime you can suddenly undress in front of me and eat.”
“You’re rude.” But she laughs.
“It’s just me, Daze.”
“Sorry.” But Enrique immediately returned and brought some food and then placed it in front of us. “Celestine, you can try this fermented mango salad with crushed peanuts. It is sealed for one month and Hailey and I plan to release it next month if approved by the taster. The mangoes produced by Sebastian’s farm and the peanut from Dylan’s farm.”
“Brother has a farm? / Dylan has a farm?” Celestine and I asked together.
“Yeah, he has a share in Sebastian’s farm. He owns the peanut plantation and has a share in the tomato plantation. They agree with Don Alejandro. I don’t know what the others are yet.”
“Really?” Celestine and I said together again.
“Try it,” Celestine approached and then opened the bowl. He took a bite and savored the mango. I was hungry when I saw him eat when Enrique suddenly took it and followed me. “Try it too.”
I ate the fermented and tasted the mango first, it was delicious because it had the sourness and sweetness. But my stomach suddenly turned upside down when I saw the peanuts. I held my mouth and immediately ran.
“Dande.” There was concern in Enrique’s voice but I ignored him. I went straight to the sink and vomited there.
“Daze, are you ok?” Celestine immediately came close to me and touched my back and rubbed it.
“Dande, tell me what’s wrong?” He was holding water and trying to hand it to me. “Celestine, does the food taste bad? Is there a smell? Is there something wrong?” he asked Celestine.
“No, nothing. It tastes good. It can be an appetizer, the sauce also.”
I wiped my face when I vomited everything. My knee felt like it was withered and wobbly so they helped me sit.
“Dande, what’s the problem?” I drank the water before answering.
“I don’t know, the mango is delicious but when I tasted the peanuts, my stomach suddenly turned upside down.”
“Huh, don’t you eat peanuts, before, only occasionally, but you don’t have a problem with that, do you?” Celestine asked.
“Yeah, I don’t know before, it seems to smell rotten to my sense of smell and—–I don’t know.”
“Does it smell rotten?” Enrique asked Celestine.
“No, it was oily when I bit it and it was good to bite because you tasted the taste of peanuts—–oh wait.” Enrique and I looked at Celestine together.
“Why?” Enrique waited for her to answer. Maybe Celestine also tasted something and only now remembered. “Does it taste bad?”
“No, Daze, when was the last time you had your period?” My eyes widened and then I looked at Enrique. Shit, it was delayed by two weeks.
“Fuck!” I just cursed and remained gaping as I stared at Enrique’s face.
“Dande.”
“Maybe I’m pregnant,” I said slowly and saw the wide smile of the panicked.
“Are you sure?”
“Not sure, but I’ve never been delayed, except when I got pregnant with Ixora.”
“Oh, another Locsin.” Celestine chuckles.
“Blessings.” And then Enrique came to me and kissed me on the forehead. “I love you.”
