TWENTY-THREE

Book:Daze's Obsession ( ENGLISH VERSION ) Published:2024-5-1

I’ve been walking around in my room for a while now. I’m having a problem now because the wedding is coming, and the gay animal has gone. Enrique is downstairs talking to my parents as well as my brother Dylan to inform them that Ervic is gone and no trace of where he is. I tried to contact him too but his phone was off.
Only one week left and it’s the wedding date. The invitation is just waiting to be handed out. I follow what brother Dylan said that it was great even though I don’t want to because he said it was the best day of my life. Besides, I realized that I only get married once so I should cherish it.
But damn, I think it’s going to get worse because the gay disappears now that the wedding is near. The animal was still choosing a cake design and then ran away from me. It’s nice if I drown him in the icing and tie the veil of the gown around his neck. Dimwit!
“Fuck you, Ervic.” I throw my phone on the bed. I’m fed up and I don’t know what to do. This gay who I thought would help me ran away from me.
Because I couldn’t think of anything sensible, I went to the visiting room where they were talking. I don’t want to get involved with them, but I also won’t let them fight my loves because of me and Ervic’s stupidity. Even if he doesn’t like me, I still have to defend him because he doesn’t know anything about this nonsense.
Ervic and I have planned this and then they will fight my brothers? Nah, I have to be there. Besides, this is my issue so I should be there.
“So what now? Is that all? Your brother left without saying anything?” I heard brother Dylan’s question.
Enrique is silent. Apparently, how can he handle the four Dy men in front of him and brother Wallace is also with them? Also, he probably doesn’t know what to say or do. This is what I mean, I don’t want them to fight Enrique alone.
“Excuse me.” They looked at me at the same time.
“Sit here.” Brother Dave commanded so I sat beside him and brother Dale was on my left, Dad sat at the end, opposite Enrique and brother Wallace. While dad and brother Dylan sit opposite each other too and brother Wallace is on brother Dylan’s left side so Enrique and I are opposite each other.
“My apologies, Dylan. I didn’t expect it to happen. I don’t have any idea where he is and I can’t contact him. He didn’t even say that he was leaving and I don’t know his reason.”
“Apology not accepted, Enrique. I think your brother underestimated our family too much. After he got my sister pregnant and the marriage was acknowledged, he will suddenly disappear like a bubble. Fuck and run.”
“Words, Dylan,” Dad said.
“We don’t want to pressure you, Enrique.” Brother Dave said. “But everything is settled, everything has been fixed and our acquaintances already know that Daze will marry a Locsin— one of the sons of the late Salvo. This is not about money but the dignity of my sister.”
“Agree, you know the status of our family, especially dad,” brother Dale seconded. “This is a different conversation when it comes to our youngest. She can’t be aggrieved by this.”
“This is not a threat, Enrique. But to warn you that no one dares to mess with us. Now, when it comes to Daze, I will cross the border or pass beyond the limit, just don’t let my sister be offended,” Brother Dylan said that not everyone opposed. “Let your brother out so this can be over and we won’t end up in a big mess,” he added.
“Fuck,” Enrique hissed accompanied by a heavy sigh, especially at the last thing brother Dylan said. Dad remained quiet and looked at them. It is like his waiting for the right time. He let my brothers talk to Enrique.
“So what now?” Kuya Dylan asks and everyone remains silent. “No married, is that so?” he seconded. God, why do I feel nervous as the conversation goes on? I am also afraid of those here.
“Chill, Dy.” Brother Wallace scolded. “Let him answer first.”
“I am waiting for that fucking answer.”
“Brother, don’t pressure him. He doesn’t know where Ervic is. He is here to fix it and find a way, not you to scare him and threaten,” I said and looked at Enrique.
“It’s not accepted. The only way is for the marriage to continue to end this conversation. You have to marry Locsin as agreed because everyone knows that. And Locsin is the father of your child.”
“I seconded with Dylan,” brother Dave said.
“But how? How can Ervic and I get married without him? Who should I marry? Enrique? That’s a big joke when it happens.”
“I will replace my brother’s place.” I stared at Enrique because of what he said. He looked at me too, and our eyes met. Then he looked again at brother Dylan and then at daddy. “I will stand up for your daughter.”
“What the hell are you saying?” I asked with a frown.
Is he stupid or is he really stupid? What is he saying he will stand up.
“What do you mean?” dad asked.
“I don’t know where my brother is, and I don’t want to put our family’s name in shame. Also, Dandelion is carry Locsin’s blood, our flesh, and our next generation. My brother’s baby, that means I am responsible for both of them too.”
“Why you?” Brother Dylan asked. “Why you are the one who will stand when you can let your brother out? Are you playing with our youngest siblings? You’re making us fool? You rejected her, then your brother got her pregnant and left. Now, in the end, you will marry her? You’re making us dumb.”
“No.” Prompt defense by Enrique. “We are not like that. I have my reason why I rejected her, but our issue is different from theirs. I will marry her because I don’t know where he is. I am clueless. I tried to find him but there is no trace of him. I don’t want to break my promise to you that a Locsin will stand up for Dandelion’s baby. I also don’t want to embarrass her because what happened to her and the loss of my brother is not his fault. Now if you allow me, I will marry your daughter on behalf of my brother.”
“I disagree,” Everyone looks at me.
‘Is he dumb? The way he insulted me it’s not enough for him to tell me to my face that he’d rather die than marry me.’
“What does it mean, Daze?” dad asks.
“I will not agree to marry Enrique, dad, brothers. Nope, there is no wedding.”
“And why?” Brother Dale asks.
“Why, brother? He is not the father, and besides, Enrique doesn’t like me. The way he insults me and throws bad words at me is unacceptable and it’s a snap he marries me? Nah, Nevah!”
“So what do you do what’s going to happen? No marriage will happen?” Brother Dave asks.
“I would rather be a single mother than marry Enrique. I’d rather be a single mom than have my child raised by someone.”
“Daze.” Brother Dave and brother Dale reprimanded at the same time.
“He is not anybody.” Kuya Dylan said while staring at me. ‘Oh God forsake me and save me from brother Dylan’s wrath.’ I could swallow because of the way he looked at me and I knew he knew the truth. ‘Please Lord, forgive me for my sin.’
“B-brother, I-I, I am—”
“Your opinion is not important,” brother Dylan added. “Enrique is right, and I think his option is the best solution for you, and for everyone.”
“B-but, Brother.”
“No buts, whether you like it or not, you will marry Enrique if he will stand on you, not unless Ervic comes out before the wedding and makes you responsible.”
“Brother.”
“You’re going to marry Enrique.”
“This is my life, my choice, I have the right to refuse.”
“That is not your only life but your child’s too, another thing is don’t argue with me if you can’t stand on your own. You chose this, so you have no choice but to follow.”
“Why do you make it a big deal, brother Dylan? Sister Dane also got pregnant and gave birth out of wedlock, right?” Then I looked at brother Wallace. “Sorry, brother Wallace, no offense.”
“Even though Dane is not married, everyone knows that her child has a father and will stand up for her. She’s just this stupid who doesn’t know that everyone already knows who the father of her child is.” Brother Dylan looked at brother Wallace. “My sister is smart, it’s like she became a little stupid because of you.” He explained and looked at me.
“Even though, I still don’t want to marry Enrique.”
“I agree with your brother,” dad said so we all focused on him.
“Dad?”
“This is the only way to save you.”
“But dad, are you going to tie Enrique to me? He has his own life and freedom to find the woman he wants when the time comes.”
“Well, he can annul you, as long as he marries you now.”
“As easy as that brother Dylan?”
“I won’t mind.” Enrique interrupted. “I prefer to marry you than to lose Locsin’s pride in front of your dad,” Enrique said so I glared at him. I would have been thrilled because I was annoyed with him.
“Dignity, pride, it’s fine! Then who will suffer? Me?” Then I faced Enrique and stood up. “Didn’t you say you don’t like me? Didn’t you say you would rather marry a prostitute than me?”
“I said it and I mean it,” he answered.
“Well, stand by that, back out, and leave.”
“But the case now is different. You’re carrying Locsin’s child. And I also won’t allow my nephew to not carry our last name. We are not as rich as your family, but the child that you bear is the next Locsin’s generation. The heir or the heiress. Our bloodline.”
I want to slap Enrique left and right. I was disgusted by what he said but I was even more disgusted by his face. The thickness of his face says that he is their heir, while if he makes me cry because he doesn’t like me, it’s just like that. Then now he will claim what is not——-wait—-it is actually his. He just doesn’t know.
But even so. I still don’t want to. He has no right to my baby. What did he think of me as fragile as sister Dane who was given immediately? Of course not, maybe brother Dylan’s first love is my idol, sister is still as hard as a rock—–”
“I think we’re done here,” Dad spoke and got up.
“It’s the final decision Daze, us against you, and we won.” Big brother Dave tapped my shoulder and followed dad.
“Wait, dad, brother Dave!” But they didn’t listen to me. “Brother Dale,” I begged to mention my brother Dale while I was crying.
“Sorry, youngest, I am on your side, but I know we can’t win. So just enjoy it, Locsin will still stand by your daughter and what you are still chasing. That’s a win-win for you.” And so does brother Dale follow them too.
“Brother Wallace,” I call him as if wanted to cry.
“I have no rights, even if I side with you, we will not win. But to be fair, ok, I am on your side. Let’s take sides even if nothing happens.” Kuya Wallace said.
“You two just cry.” Brother Dylan stood followed by brother Wallace. “Gotta go. We have something else to attend to. The two of you need to talk about your future child because you are the one getting married. Hahaha.” Kuya Dylan also left with Kuya Wallace, so only Enrique and I were left.
Silence enveloped the visiting room. I’m annoyed and I don’t know why. I really don’t want to tell him that he is the father and then later on he will still be the one who will stand as the father both on paper and in real life. Dimwit! There is no difference except that he does not know the truth.
“I think I need to go.”
“You’re not leaving.” He clenched his fist and then turned to face him. I feel like I’m going to burst into tears anytime. I feel betrayed by my own family. I want to cry out loud because of resentment.
“Are you ok?”
“Don’t act as if you care.” I saw him bend down and then heaved a sigh before lifting his head and looking at me.
“Hey, can you relax? Whatever emotion you have can affect the baby.”
“So? It’s my baby, so what do you care? You don’t really care about me, do you?”
“Listen, Dandelion. I don’t care about you and that’s true. But I care about your baby.”
“That’s why you don’t need to marry me. The baby is Locsin period and I will still give you the right to him—–but married—– to you? Nah! I will not agree to marry you.”
“And I also won’t allow you not to marry me.”
“What?”
“Until my brother comes out to stand up for you, I will stand up for you and your baby. I won’t let the baby grow up without a father because he or she is a Locsin. Your baby needs to carry our last name and needs a father’s guidance. So I will do it if my brother can’t stand it.”
“I don’t want to marry you.”
“I don’t want to be your husband either. But I don’t want my nephew to be a broken family.”
“Back out, stop this wedding.”
“You have no choice, us against you. Your opinion is not counted. We close the deal, I am on your family’s side and so are they.”
“I hate you, Enrique.”
“Hate me as long as you can. But there’s nothing you can do.”
“Tell me what you want me to do to stop this fucking wedding with you. Tell me and I will do it, just don’t agree to marry me.”
“Find my brother and marry him. That’s your only option. Now, if you can’t find him, just keep quiet.”
“Dimwit!” But he just smirked at me. “Fuck you!”
“Stop your immaturity, you’re going to be a mother. And this is not the time to let yourself be a brat. Think about your child and stop being selfish.” And he left me. I gave him a bad look as he walked out the door.
You’re stupid, Enrique, even if you stand up for my baby, you still won’t know that he’s yours.
