Chapter 42 – Slowly Fixing Things… Not!

On the last weekend of their vacation, the group decided to go to Patron. It was Lemon’s first time visiting the place, and she was amazed by it.
It wasn’t all just hype.
The music playing from the speakers was eargasmic. The entire setup for the place was very cozy, and the drinks had low alcohol content.
The best part was they were all there. Everyone came as they all wanted to have a breather before school started. And so, when they arrived, the party began.
The group opted for the couch as it got low foot traffic. As soon as they were seated, the boys ordered vodka, while the girls, including Kale, went for the suggested drink – Zombie.
An hour in, Kevz started calling everyone to the dancefloor. Of course, Kale and Kellen gladly joined him. What everyone didn’t expect was for all the boys to join, except Drew.
And so, again, they were in an awkward situation, and Lemon could see Drew stealing glances at her. He looked like he wanted to talk to her but couldn’t find the courage.
Lemon reached for her glass but slipped, and tequila splashed on her skirt. She reached for the tissue box, but Drew beat her to it. He inched closer and passed on tissues to her as she kept wiping her leg and skirt.
Although they were both busy with the accident, Lemon could hear Drew talking. And since the music was too loud, she couldn’t figure out what he was saying.
He looked like he had said a lot, but Lemon leaned closer to hear him properly. And Drew generously repeated everything, but she still couldn’t understand anything.
And who knows that destiny will be playful in such a situation?
Their lips brushed against each other, and Lemon’s eyes widened in surprise. She slipped farther and signaled him to stop handing tissues.
Lemon mouth ‘thank you’ and Drew nodded in acknowledgment. But after that, he handed him his phone, and Lemon read ‘sorry’ written on the screen. She smiled faintly and wrote a reply, ‘It’s fine.’
Their exchange went on until they were both giggling. When Drew was about to pass the phone back to her, the group rejoined them.
He slid his phone into his pocket and grinned at Lemon, and Kevz didn’t miss that. “We just danced, and you suddenly became friends?” he teased.
“And why are you sitting there, Drew? That’s Kip’s seat!” Roj told him off.
“My drink spilled, and he helped me,” Lemon defended, looking around for Kellen and Kale. “Where are they?” she asked no one in particular.
“They went to the CR,” Homme replied.
Lemon excused herself to go after the two. But when she reached the restroom, they were already on their way out, so she had to push them back in. “I need your help on something,” she told them.
“What something?” Kellen asked, intrigued.
“And don’t whisper. The music outside’s too loud. No one will hear you,” Kale told her.
She sighed and pulled them far from the door. “Okay! I’m going to ask you something, but please keep this between the three of us,” and they nodded in unison.
“Is this something super serious that it can’t wait ’til we go home?” Kellen asked.
“Yes! So, here goes! What if someone you’re so distant with made your heart flutter? Does that mean anything?”
“What do you mean so distant?” Kellen asked.
“So distant that you can’t even say you’re friends. I mean, you do know each other, but you barely converse. The atmosphere’s more than awkward when it’s just you two. Things like that, do you get it?”
She was asking because her heart fluttered when she accidentally came in contact with Drew. She felt the same with Rawbin before. But Rawbin was her boyfriend then. With Drew, Lemon felt weird. Drew is Drew, and she couldn’t understand why she felt that towards him.
Kale and Kellen paused to process what she said, but they only got confused. Lemon sighed, frustrated as it seemed she wouldn’t get anything from them.
“Maybe you like him?” Kale was unsure of his reply.
“Hold up, cuz! To be clear, can you tell us who you’re referring to?” Kellen asked.
“Is it Drew?” Bingo! She slowly nodded in response to Kale, and the two started jumping and screaming.
“Hey! Calm down! You guys are overreacting!”
“Well cuz, I find Drew-” Kellen started, but Lemon had to stop her.
“Think of another name. Don’t mention HIS name!”
“Pol? Short for Apollo?” Kale suggested. Although it sounded cheesy, it wasn’t the time for Lemon to be picky, so she nodded in agreement. That would do.
“So yeah, I do find him weird. Most of the time, I can see him looking at you. No, he’s staring,” Kellen continued.
“And remember when you fought with Tanya? Wasn’t it him who saved you several times that day?” Kale added.
“I remember that. But Pol made it clear too that he didn’t do that to save me. He said he’s just saving the band’s reputation.” Lemon explained.
“Really?” Kellen pouted. “But he’s like that ever since. He’s always been distant. Back then, he was only close with Kevz. I’ve known them for a long time, but I’m still not close with him, unlike Roj and Kevz. Of course, except for Homme since there are feelings involved.”
“But why did you suddenly ask? What happened that made your heart flutter?” Kale pried, so Lemon generously told them what happened, and they started squealing again.
“You mean you got romantically excited because of that?” Kellen asked, and she nodded hesitantly.
“O-M-G, Lem! What if you’re not just crushing on him? What if your feelings are deeper?” Kale exclaimed.
She narrowed her eyes at him. ‘For real? Could it be I’m falling for him? But how is that even possible when we barely talk?’
“Well, this isn’t the time to think about that. I guess it’s best if we observe Pol. Then let’s see how things will go from there,” Kellen suggested, and they nodded at her.
After their meeting in the restroom, the trio rejoined the rest of the group. But Lemon was stopped on her track when she saw an irritatingly familiar face sitting beside Drew.
It was the girl who visited him at the studio. Seeing Drew so close to the girl, Lemon’s cheeks heated up. She was furious but too afraid to admit it.
Lemon knew she didn’t have the right and could only keep things to herself. Even after seeing the girl licking Drew’s neck and him enjoying it, she can only grit her teeth.
Taken over by jealousy and childishness, she made sure to step on Drew’s toes when she walked past him. She did the same for the girl, making sure she would feel the fury in Lemon’s heels.
The couple squirmed in pain, with the girl adding a horrendous scream to it, and as Lemon sat down, she covered her mouth and pretended it wasn’t intentional at all.
“I’m so sorry!” she gasped. “I couldn’t see properly in the dark. I’m so sorry!” she repeated exaggeratedly.
When Drew nodded to acknowledge Lemon’s apology, she turned around to hide her evil smirk. Meanwhile, Kellen couldn’t help but roll her eyes while Kale turned crimson as he stifled his laughter.
Still irritated, Lemon snatched the glass of vodka from Kip’s hand and downed it. Although he was surprised, Kip still asked for a refill.
As the group stayed longer at Patron, Lemon started to get dizzy as the drinks poured in. She couldn’t even recognize her voice, and she was already slurring.
To keep up, she engaged in random talks with Kale and Kellen. But just as they were having fun, she started feeling uncomfortable with the hand that kept hitting and caressing her waist.
As she was wearing a thin, fitted dress, she couldn’t help but feel the warmth of the palm because of the unintentional touches. She tried ignoring the first few, but shivers ran down her spine when the hand traced her curves and rested on her underboob.
Lemon quickly stood up to confront the culprit. “Can’t you two just go somewhere else?” she asked furiously, ensuring her voice was loud enough for them to hear.
In her peripheral view, she saw how she caught Roj and Homme’s attention as they started whispering while looking at her. On the other hand, Drew creased his forehead while the leech leaned on his shoulder.
“What’s your problem?” the girl asked in an annoyingly flirtatious tone.
“Be indecent somewhere else so your partner isn’t touching me, too!” she snapped.
