“Good morning, Drew! You’re early!” Lemon greeted him as he saw him standing right outside their door. He’s the first member to arrive and it’s only eight in the morning.
“Good morning,” he responded in a flat tone. He probably didn’t expect that he’d be the first to arrive and it’s rather awkward since it’s just the two of them.
“Have you had breakfast?”
“I did before I left home,” he replied, then he excused himself and went out of the garage.
He has his phone in hand, maybe calling the rest of the band. Lemon suddenly felt like he didn’t want to be alone with her.
Since he was busy calling whoever it was, Lemon went upstairs to get her guitar. It was a gift from one of her close friends back in France.
When she came back, she pulled up a stool and sat there, then she started strumming. ‘If I give up on you, I give up on me.’
Before she could get to the chorus of the song, another voice joined in. Looking up, she saw Drew walking over, singing.
Lemon smiled at him as she continued to play the guitar. He, on the other hand, pulled another stool close to her and continued singing.
As they got engrossed with their duet, they didn’t notice they got company. Lemon and Drew were both surprised when someone clapped and saw Roj, Kip, Kellen, Kevz, and Homme watching them.
“Dude! That’s some next-level greatness!” Kevz overpraises as he gives him a high five. “I thought you didn’t like singing?”
“I just got carried away,” Drew replied.
“You got carried away because of Lemon?” Roj teased and Drew was quick to stand up and chase him.
Lemon noticed that Drew was blushing but she chose to ignore it. She just thought that maybe it was because it was starting to get hot and it was showing on his cheeks.
“I didn’t know you could play the guitar cuz! You tend to surprise me every day,” Kip commented.
She smiled as she passed the guitar to him, “I only know a few songs,” she grinned. He then started strumming and the song sounded familiar, so Lemon sang along.
‘Look at the stars ~ look how they shine for you.’
“Someone’s romantically excited~” Roj said out of nowhere after the song ended.
“Who?” Kellen pried, and Lemon’s forehead creased as she saw Kevz trying to stop himself from laughing, as well as Homme, who was now red as a tomato.
“Was it Drew?” Kip asked in a loud voice, then he started laughing when we saw the guy squeezing himself at the corner. “You got a powerful charm right there cuz!” he added, and she felt like she blushed.
And Lemon wasn’t wrong, “O-M-G cuz, why are you blushing?” Kellen squealed.
“It’s hot!” she quickly replied before turning to Kip, “And you guys should stop teasing Drew!” she scolded and she noticed him glancing at her.
“And Drew’s excitement heightened because of that!” Kevz yelled, followed by a hearty laugh. “Stop pretending to be shy Drew! Do you really need to hide? Since when did you learn how to be shy?”
Drew quickly walked towards him and hit the back of his head lightly. He wasn’t able to dodge it but it didn’t stop him from laughing too, while the rest of the guys joined in.
The chaos was interrupted when Rawbin spoke, “Sorry, I got stuck in traffic,” he said before turning to me. “Good morning Lemon!”
“Good morning, come in!” Then she stood up to offer the stool she was sitting on.
“We’re now complete. Should we start?” Kip asked and everyone nodded.
They then all went out to get the instruments from Kip’s car and started setting it up in their garage. After that, they did some testing while Rawbin and Lemon checked their playlist.
“When is our first gig, Kip?” Rawbin asked.
“When is it Roj?” Kip asked too, then he turned to them again, “Actually, Roj is in charge of our schedule,” he informed the two.
“We have one next month,” Roj said, and Rawbin and Lemon were both surprised.
“Already?” she asked, looking back and forth at Roj and Kip.
“Yeah, it’s our foundation day. We’re automatically part of the program. But I guess we can only perform three songs since two other bands will be performing too,” Roj explained.
Homme raised his hand to say something, “We might as well practice three to five songs, just in case,” he suggested, and everyone nodded in agreement.
“Are those all duets?” Kevz asked.
“We can do a duet and two solos, one for each,” Kip replied.
Kellen and Kale shrieked out of nowhere. They were sitting at the doorstep and were unable to hide their excitement when they heard about the duet. Lemon threw them a death glare and they were both quick to cover their mouths.
Rawbin and Lemon went back to checking the playlist, as they needed to pick their songs so they could start with practice. Lemon chose Don’t Speak and The Climb, while Rawbin opted for No Good in Goodbye and Secrets.
The duet song was all that was left. There are songs they like but they’re still undecided. In the end, it was Roj who picked the duet song and he suggested Say Something and Lucky.
So while they were still tuning their instruments, Rawbin and Lemon sat in one corner to listen to the songs they picked. They were busy practicing when they heard the group laughing.
“Dude, don’t be too obvious. Do you really have to break your drum?” Roj said to who knows who at first, but then he mentioned Drew, “I didn’t know you’re the jealous type, Drew! With the number of girls in your pocket, it wasn’t obvious!” he added.
“What’s going on?” Lemon asked when they got near them.
“Yeah, is something wrong?” Rawbin chimed in.
“Drew’s taking out his anger on his drums. He almost put a hole in it!” then Kevz burst into laughter.
Lemon felt a bit uncomfortable seeing how they were always picking on Drew, so she felt the urge to cut in. “Silly! Let’s start with practice, it’s already ten,” she suggested, so they’d stop with the teasing.
They were quick to get their instruments and get into position. They were about to start when someone’s phone suddenly started ringing.
She looked around to see whose it was when Homme spoke, “Your girls are calling too early, go ahead and answer it first!” Only then did she realize that he was talking to Drew.
“I don’t have girls!” he spat as he stood up and walked away from the group with his phone in hand.
“He wasn’t that defensive!” Kevz mocked. “I didn’t know it was like that when a playboy falls in love. He’s suddenly jealous and defensive.”
When Drew came back, he sat right behind his drum set without saying a word. He just kept glaring at their bandmates who were trying their best to keep quiet.
Kip also reminded everyone to put the phones in silent mode. Everyone checked theirs and when they were sure nothing would disturb them, the practice began.
