Chapter 51: Meeting Her Biological Father

Book:A Farewell to Mr. Luo Published:2024-5-1

Xia Mo was sentenced to death while Xia Zhengyan was sentenced to life imprisonment. Luo Chejue told Xia Weiwei that Xia Zhengyan had lost his marbles, and instead of getting rid of him right now, it would be better to let him stay alive and spend the rest of his life to atone for his sins.
On the day of appearing before the court, Xia Mo went completely insane as well after hearing the verdict. She kept on yelling to die together with Xia Weiwei until she was taken away by force in the end, and Xia Zhengyan laughed wildly and stupidly all along. Both the father and the daughter ended up like this, making everyone there sigh.
When Chu Yu informed her that Yan Shaoxuan had come to, Xia Weiwei rushed over to the hospital immediately. She had to tell him her birth secret and the entanglement between her mother and the Yan family.
After hearing the story, Yan Shaoxuan smiled reluctantly and said, “Weiwei, did you make up this because you wanted to make me feel better when rejecting me?”
The minute he woke up, he was told that the person he loved the most was his half-sister. How could he accept this? Even if it were true, it was very difficult for him to buy it.
Xia Weiwei stopped talking, with the same complicated feelings on her mind. She knew perfectly well how much Shaoxuan loved her, and she could not accept it, let alone him.
Needless to say, Xia Weiwei knew that Yan Shaoxuan had believed it anyway.
“Weiwei, please go. Can you leave me alone for a while?” With weakness and fatigue on his bloodless face, Yan Shaoxuan shifted his gaze away from her and closed his eyes. No one knew what he was thinking.
In the following days, Xia Weiwei had never visited the hospital again, for she dared not to see Yan Shaoxuan’s injured look.
Unexpectedly, Yan Shaoxuan came to see her firstly, along with another man.
Completely dumbfounded at the door, Xia Weiwei stared at the middle-aged man with tough features, who was wearing a Chinese tunic suit. Unlike Xia Zhengyan’s refined temperament, he looked even colder.
It was Yan Ming and also her… biological father.
With her eyelashes quivering a little bit, Xia Weiwei avoided his reminiscent gaze.
“Weiwei, won’t you invite us in?” Yan Shaoxuan said to her with a smiling face and bright eyes, as if he had returned to his previous mild and genial state.
Without saying anything, Xia Weiwei led them into the living room for tea. The atmosphere was a little dull for a while. When Luo Chejue went downstairs and saw this scene, he raised his eyebrows before sitting next to Xia Weiwei and holding her hands, which were cold and shaking as expected.
“Could you tell me what bring Mr. Yan here today? Are you planning to acknowledge Weiwei as your daughter?”
As soon as Yan Ming learned from Yan Shaoxuan that Xia Weiwei turned out to be his daughter, he rushed over immediately although he had no idea what to say to her. He did not quite fancy Luo Chejue because he knew how much her daughter had suffered because of him in the past few years.
So, he just snorted and did not reply to him. On the contrary, Yan Shaoxuan started to talk, “Luo Chejue, no matter what, Weiwei is the daughter of my father. I escorted my dad here today to take a stand. Even if Weiwei wouldn’t accept her new identity for the time being, the Yan family is still her backup. As long as she said no to you, we would take her away at any time!”
“Is this a provocation?” Luo Chejue had always known how to go for the jugular. “It seems you adapted yourself quickly to your new identity as her brother.”
Yan Shaoxuan’s expression froze right away. Xia Weiwei couldn’t take it anymore and secretly pinched Luo Chejue before saying, “Shaoxuan, I know you’re doing this for my sake, and… Mr. Yan,” she continued after raising her head to cast him a glance and looking down again, “Jue and I are very good. As for the Yan family, I… I’m sorry…”
“Weiwei,” Yan Ming interrupted her and said, “I know it’s hard for you to accept this.
Today, I only want to tell you what happened between me and your mother.”
“We were in love back then, and the Yan and Bai families were pleased to see it happen. But later, your mother broke off with me because of some misunderstandings. Before she married Xia Zhengyan, I went to see her but she was too stubborn to listen to my explanation. So, we missed our opportunity to spend our lifetime together. I never contacted her after I learned about her pregnancy. I thought she was doing well these years. My one and only love in this life has always been your mother!”
“How dare Xia Zhengyan harm Yanyan! I can’t wait to crucify him!” A gleam of hatred flashed across Yan Ming’s eyes, and it took almost everything in him not to pound the table since he was afraid of scaring his daughter.
Xia Weiwei lowered her gaze. Yan Ming was actually a total stranger to her, while Xia Zhengyan had been the father figure for her all the way, although he was not her biological father.
Yan Ming realized her discomfort and said, “I just came here to have a look at you. Whether you would see me as your father or not, the Yan family will always stand by your side. Don’t try to reject it. How could I stand watching my daughter get bullied by this bloke of the Luo family!”
