The minute Xia Weiwei returned to the villa, she saw Luo Chejue waiting there with a gloomy look. He then questioned her, “Where have you been?”
After meeting with Yan Shaoxuan, Xia Weiwei had been pondering on all the things he had done for her while, on the contrary, she hurt him time after time because of Luo Chejue. So, she did not want to see Luo Chejue now and ignored his question.
“Did you meet Yan Shaoxuan? What did he tell you? Was he still that over-confident and coveting something that wasn’t his?”
Xia Weiwei replied to him in an even colder tone than Luo Chejue did, “It’s none of your business! You have no right to accuse him!”
Seeing her standing up for Yan Shaoxuan like that, Luo Chejue’s face turned ghastly pale.
He could stand her indifference but could not bear her arguing with him for the sake of another man, especially when that man was Yan Shaoxuan.
“Are you in love with him?”
Xia Weiwei was not in the slightest bit afraid of his infuriation and retorted, “Yes! Why? Can’t I love him? I would have been dead long before if it weren’t for him! He has sacrificed all he had for me! My sufferings from you were healed by Shaoxuan little by little! I’ve promised to marry him!”
“How dare you! I could destroy the Yans before, so can I kill him right away!”
“Luo Chejue! What else can you do but coerce me?”
She could not allow Shaoxuan to be harmed again because of her! She had owed him too much!
“I won’t touch him as long as you stay obedient.”
“Luo Chejue,” Xia Weiwei became disheartened and continued in resignation, “Jue, there’s no going back for both of us. Please let me go! I might have been mistaken about what happened before, but those miseries had already exhausted me. I don’t want to love anymore. If I were forced to stay by your side, it would only remind me of those painful memories. How about we get a divorce and call it even? You’re Shengsheng’s biological father, and I promise not to stand in the way of your reunion. How does that sound?”
“What if I say I love you?” Luo Chejue fixed his gaze on her.
She sighed and looked him in the eye. “Unrequited love can only lead to unfortunate endings. Wasn’t my former self the best example? What’s gone is gone.”
“So, you still love me, right? Only, you just can’t make peace with or let go of what happened four years ago. Weiwei, you can’t deceive me. If you didn’t love me, you wouldn’t have given birth to Shengsheng, let alone bring closure to our relationship on the pretext of what happened back then.”
Luo Chejue went straight to the heart of the matter. Xia Weiwei couldn’t refute his argument.
Yes, she loved Luo Chejue. If he had loved her back four years ago, how could he watch their baby die cold-heartedly? Why didn’t he stop Xia Mo and her father? Why did he force her to divorce him? Shouldn’t people in love be honest with each other and face everything together?
Shifting her gaze, Xia Weiwei evaded the crucial point and said to him, “All in all, I won’t stay here anymore no matter what you say.”
“I’ve fixed the house registration records of you and Shengsheng. She has already gone to school today.”
What he did cut off all her retreats. With the prestige of the Luo’s family in Jincheng, Xia Weiwei could not leave on her own unless she sought help from Yan Shaoxuan. But Luo Chejue was also fully aware of this, so he had arranged for his henchmen to keep an eye on the Yan’s. As long as Yan Shaoxuan dared to step in, he wouldn’t go easy on him!
“If you want to ask Yan Shaoxuan for help, be my guest. Besides, I haven’t gotten even with him for stealing you from me before!”
Xia Weiwei did not know what to do with his overbearing acts but surely dared not to contact Yan Shaoxuan again.
