“Mommy, I’m not feeling well.”
As she spoke, her little body fell directly into the arms of Xia Weiwei, which freaked her out. Until then did she notice that her daughter’s little face was red, lips pale, forehead sweaty, and she was gasping for breath.
Xia Weiwei immediately held her up and took a taxi to the hospital. She was extremely worried and distressed along the way and secretly hated herself for having ignored her daughter’s physical condition while she was too immersed in her old memories.
She had been quite feeble during her pregnancy and the parturition was very dangerous as well, which caused the congenital deficiency of Shengsheng. She had been carefully nursed and raised in the past few years abroad. Perhaps the unacclimatization triggered her discomfort.
“Shengsheng. My dear baby. Don’t be afraid. You’ll get well soon.”
Xia Weiwei took Shengsheng to the hospital where her mother had stayed years ago. The doctor examined Shengsheng and Xia comforted her gently by the side.
“Mommy, I don’t want to stay in the hospital!”
“Okay, we are not staying here. Mommy will take you home soon.” Xia Weiwei slightly patted Shengsheng on her back, and looking at the needle inserted into her little arm, she wished desperately that she could suffer the pain in her daughter’s stead.
“If you’re going to leave the hospital right away, please do take good care of her in the coming days”, the doctor reminded kindly.
After the transfusion, Xia Weiwei carried Shengsheng, who had already fallen asleep to the front desk to settle accounts, and in the meantime, she intended to make inquiries about what had happened to her mother before.
“Dr. Chen? He went abroad for further study five years ago.”
“May I have a look at the patient’s data and the surveillance footage of her ward at that time?”
“I’m sorry.” The nurse smiled politely and explained, “The information of our patients can only be checked with a kinship certificate and our dean’s consent. Our surveillance footage is strictly confidential. So, our dean’s approval is also necessary.”
Kinship certificate? Yan Shaoxuan helped her get a new identity abroad. Her household registration record at home must have been canceled when she “died”.
Xia Weiwei sighed in disappointment; it was indeed not easy, as she had expected. It seemed that no clues could be found from the hospital. As for the dean, she had to wait for Shaoxuan because he might get to something with the power of the Yan Family.
Xia Weiwei walked out of the hospital with Shengsheng in her arms and her mother’s death as well as her daughter’s illness on her mind, so she failed to notice an acquaintance who was standing three meters away, petrified instantly at the sight of her.
Chu Yu was forced by his old man to pay an inspection visit to their hospital. Now he looked like he had just witnessed a ghost.
What…what the hell did he see? Xia Weiwei?!
Wasn’t she dead? Was there something wrong with his eyes?
He closed his mouth after a long while and then went straight to the nurse that Xia Weiwei had just talked to.
“Young master?!”
Chu Yu was not in the mood to chat, so he asked her directly, “What did that lady say just now? The one with a child in her arms.”
“She took her child to see a doctor. Only that she asked about a patient named Bai Yan who had passed away six years ago. She also wanted to see the surveillance footage of that patient’s ward back then.”
Bai Yan? Xia Weiwei’s mother?
Furrowing his eyebrows, Chu Yu was sure now that it must have been Xia Weiwei. She was still alive! They had not heard of her for four years and all of a sudden, she showed up to investigate what had happened to her mother six years ago. There must have been something behind it.
Without thinking much about it, he immediately took out his mobile phone and called Luo Chejue.
His calls were hung up repeatedly, but he was not anxious at all and kept on dialing the number in a composed manner. He was really curious about the reaction of Luo Chejue when he heard Xia Weiwei was still alive.
The call finally got through. Before Luo Chejue could flare up, Chu Yu dropped the breaking news.
“I just saw Xia Weiwei at the hospital. She’s not dead.”
