“Clear everything up and keep this between you and me, we can’t risk the others teaming against me.” Strider nodded. Layton headed to Gemini’s room.
“I didn’t mean any of it.” Gemini rolled her eyes.
“You always say such things, am starting to believe what the rest tell me.” Layton sat by sides her.
“You killed your parents but for a pathetic reason.”
“Not for a pathetic reason, all they cared about was power and riches.” She turned to him.
“Then tell me what really happened.” Layton sighed the past did haunt him.
“My father was a great leader he was unstoppable and unbreakable. Unlike others, he used strategy and critical thinking that it made him unstoppable.” He paused for a second taking in the pain.
“He taught me everything he knew, I grew up with Jones by my side but we weren’t that related and my father taught him too.” Gemini grew impatient.
“So who killed who?”
“My father trusted me so much even when he knew he wasn’t supposed to, he thought I wouldn’t hurt him but he had something I also wanted and that was the throne.” Gemini instantly knew what he had done.
“He didn’t want to pass it on to me! His thoughts were on Jones and I did what any true heir would do, I killed my father. He told me I had to do whatever it took to be at the top.” Gemini gasped, she thought there would be a better reason.
“Why did you do that? He was your father.” Layton groaned.
“He never cared about family! He would have done the same to me!! He only kept me by his side so I don’t kill him one day.”
“How do you know that?! He never told you so!” She was greatly affected when her father died, she never thought one could be so heartless.
“I was told by him to never trust anyone no matter how close they were to you, he told me how he had to kill the ones he loved just for this position then why can’t I!” Layton yelled, at that moment he knew he never regretted his actions.
“I am supposed to be the alpha but my father wanted to give that position to someone else and everything I worked on could have been for nothing!! I was tortured and punished for this and he expected me to let it all go!!” The veins were visible on his forehead and arms, Gemini shivered at his words.
“Why didn’t you just leave as I did?” Layton laughed.
“I couldn’t and if I was caught trying to, I would be severely punished for it while Jones was taken as that perfect example. I hated all of them and I didn’t regret my actions!!” Gemini tries to cool him down but it was of no use.
“Layton please calm down, I know it’s painful to remember but you have to control your emotions.” She said in a calm voice begging him to relax.
“You know nothing so don’t tell me to calm down!! Alright, I am heartless but that’s how I was raised, I was raised to be heartless and cruel.” He got up.
“You wanted the truth now I’ve told you!” He stormed out. It was hard to understand who was wrong at that point. She made her way downstairs where she met Strider.
“What happened?” Strider asked meaning Layton.
“The past. I forced him to tell me.” Strider was disappointed in her.
“You shouldn’t have, he gets really emotional when he talks about it.” Gemini agreed, she now knew why he didn’t want to talk about it.
“I should go talk to him.”
“No, you’ll make of worse remember the full moon is drawing near and the effects are unpredictable, I will talk to him.” He advised her and left. He found him outside.
“I should have killed him too.” Strider chuckled.
“But you didn’t.”
“That was cause he ran away, he was always a coward, it’s so strange what my father saw in him.” Strider might have guessed. His father probably knew the type of person his son would turn out to be and Strider admired Layton’s father’s thinking but it was a shame what had happened.
Gemini stayed some time alone and she had been like this since Jacob’s death, ignoring the fact that she had almost gotten raped by the same guy she still cried for him. It was the day of the blood moon. Layton still took his medication and made sure he was fit and strong.
“Won’t you be there?” Strider asked Gemini buy she denied it.
“I don’t feel like it, I prefer to be alone.” She walked for a distance.
“If it’s about Jacob you have to get used to it nothing will change.” Gemini tore.
“How could you live like this. You all are heartless.”
“We aren’t…. it’s just that we have been through a lot that we all accepted reality. You just have you accept what happens Gemini, put yourself first before anything else.” She knew she was different from the rest, not only was she raised by humans but she was one too and she thought experiencing pain and feeling guilty was a human thing.
“We are just not the same, we’ve all been raised differently.” Gemini made her way to her room. She stayed there for some time as Strider walked to Layton.
