“Hah! ”
Ella’s pulse was pounding so rapidly that she stifled a cry of terror and turned aside. Oh, no….
She felt like she was about to puke up from the intensity of her irritation. Her eyes darted to the Herbalist’s daughter as she took a long breath and turned away.
She seemed like she’d just come back from the woods, as she stood on the corner with some branches in her hands. She had been standing there starring at Ella, but as soon as Ella looked at her, she turned and left.
Shortly after seeing the woman round the corner, Ella’s fury subsided and she chased after her. When she arrived, she saw a woman in the rear chopping up some wood. The area has the feel of a backyard, complete with scattered trees, a water guard, and a fire pit.
Tonny was aware that Ella was lurking behind her, but she didn’t bother to glance up from the wood she was chopping. And after looking at her for a while, Ella stepped closer.
Almost inaudibly, she said, “Hi,” but Tonny didn’t look in her direction. She wore her animosity on her face.
“Are you a witch? ”
Ella mustered the courage to ask despite her limited availability.
“If I were a witch, the sisters of the red coven would’ve come for me a long time ago,” she mocked, pulling a splinter of wood from the one she had smashed. Only the ability to see into the future has been bestowed to me. She said as she glanced at Ella for an instant and then struck another piece of wood with her axe.
Thank goodness, Ella reassured herself, she does answer.
She paused and then said, “Excuse me, I need to ask a question. I agree with everything you said the day before. I can’t figure it out. Just what do you mean by “t?” Because, as best as I can tell, I was not born with jackal abilities.
Tonny snarled, “I do not know the answers to your inquiries,” as she slammed her axe down on the wood again. She pushed the piece she didn’t want aside and picked up another.
When Ella began, “But you…”, Tonny again slammed the wood, cutting her off. She went on, “But you seemed so confident.” Please let me know if there’s anything I should be aware of. ”
“Nothing, Your Majesty. “Tonny snapped back angrily, taking another puff: “You’re wasting your time. ”
Ella begged, “Please…” repeatedly. “To be able to see into the future is a gift you have, right? It ought to be transparent to you. ”
“This is the extent of my ability. Whenever a ghost wants me to see anything, that’s all I’ll see. “Also, “yesterday, I saw just what I was allowed to see of you,” she said.
A security officer arrived just then.
” your Majesty Queen Ella. “He said, “It’s time to leave,” and he went, leaving Ella with a lump in her throat.
“So…. Is there really nothing you can do? “Upon hearing this, Tonny paused her work and took a long breath as Ella questioned wistfully.
“Where is your mother,” she asked Ella, her dark eyes searching for an answer. “She’s…. “In response, Ella said, “She’s dead,” putting an end to her own curiosity.
“What about your dad?”
Inquired Tonny.
He’s still around; he’s hiding out in this mountain.
Once again, Tonny took a big breath in.
“The guy you call your father told you to go talk to him. “She picked up her ax and kept on hacking away at her task.
Elisa was taken aback. Who is her dad, exactly? Possibly he knows the key to unlocking her questions.
She groaned and turned to go, “thank.
She heard the woman’s voice scream out, “Queen,” and she turned quickly to see the woman looking at her while holding a bundle of wood. Surely she must have added something new to her earlier remarks.
“Hold fast to the King. “Softening her tone, Tonny remarked, “He needs you,” before leaving.
She kept hearing the woman’s remarks in her brain.
The things that she had said about her were the first obstacle she could not overcome. She had hoped to get some rest as soon as she got home, but it was clear that she needed to check up on her father immediately.
Yes, it was important for her to probe him with inquiries and understand the Herbalist’s daughter’s context.
“He needs you,”
but what does that even mean?
Exactly why does the King need her, if he does? How? Who could have been so cranky as to hardly give her a glance, much alone the side eye?
OUrgh! As they entered the palace, guards started bustling around in preparation to greet the King.
The horses stopped moving, and then the carriage came to a stop, and the curtains parted to reveal two guards.
They were on high alert when King Spenser stepped down from his chariot. After everyone had bowed their heads and said “Greetings, My King,”
Spenser took a moment to put his hands behind his back and start walking while Ella followed after.
Queen Olivia stood on the balcony with a broad grin on her face as she saw the king get down from his chariot.
She smiled broadly and prayed to whatever higher power was listening,
“Thank God, he’s okay. “When she saw Ella close behind him, however, her smile faded.
The little jerk! Knowing that she was the one who accompanied the King was very irritating. Natasha wouldn’t have anything to complain about if it were her.
However, the fact that it was that commoner who had shown up over the last week was really frustrating.
When Ella reached the doorway of her own bedroom, she stopped following the King. She set off down the corridor, while the monarch took a different route.
“Ella! ” Ella called out as Queen Diana ran towards her.
“Greetings, My Queen,” Diana replied.
“Oh! I don’t know how many times I have to tell you not to address me as “Queen” of Ella.
She was starting to worry that something terrible had transpired.
Diana squealed sweetly, putting her hands on her shoulders.
“Um… Yesterday, on the way home, we were assaulted. We had to rush the King to the doctor since he was injured. ”
“What??? ”
Fast, Diana let out a yell. “The King?? ”
“Yes. Ella reassured Diana that he was OK now, and the latter let out a great breath of relief. Although the King may not be the ideal loving spouse for her, she has tremendous respect for him.
“Let’s get on with this, then. ” It’s only natural that you’d feel exhausted. “Let’s go get cleaned up,” she said as she took Ella’s hand and proceeded to lead her away.
Though Ella was exhausted, she knew she couldn’t afford to relax just then because of the work she had to do.
Natasha’s baby had fallen asleep shortly after nursing, and she was covering her up when the door opened and Jeremy walked in.
“Jeremy! ”
As she sprang to her feet, she exclaimed in amazement.
“My love! “
