She shook her head and continued going towards her, saying, “I can’t believe this is you, Ella,” as Ella’s cheeks burned and her eyes dropped to the ground in embarrassment.
“Thank you, My Queen.”
As Diana entered, the room’s attendants bowed and welcomed her, and she returned the greeting with a tolive.
“I can’t believe how stunning you are right now. I suggest you depart right now. I saw that the wagons were prepared and waiting. ”
“Okay”. They all got up and exited the room at the same time.
Ella was embarrassed to walk beside Diana and the servants because she realized that Diana was far more attractive and mature than she was.
There was a lot of walking involved as they made their way down the long corridor and out to where the carriage was waiting.
Each side of the carriage had three horses. For sure, they wanted to keep everyone safe from harm.
Ella’s anxiety increased when all of the guards turned to stare at her. She had never been subjected to so much scrutiny before.
After hearing Diana say, “The King is on his way,” Ella turned to see the king and his soldiers approaching the house.
His regal garb made him seem imposing and ancient, his eyes steely and lethal like those of a warrior preparing for battle. Having the guards supporting him also gave him an air of authority. Ella began to wonder how on earth she had managed to get through the night with him as she looked down at the floor in fear as he approached, saying,
“Greetings, My King,” to the king as Queen Diana stood by her side.
But Spenser said nothing, so Ella looked up, and wow….
she found his eyes on her.
Chills went down her spine as she saw the King staring at her, blankly;
with those eyes that seemed to have only known blood and violence.
Prince Jeremy was standing behind them and saw how the King stared at Ella as if he had something in mind.
Jeremy was the one that accompanied the King, albeit Viscar was there as well.
Spenser had only the night before informed him about it.
Spenser’s chilly voice came as Ella approached the carriage; with a look, she stepped inside. “Greetings, My King,” she said, realizing that this was likely the cause for his gazing.
“Get inside the carriage,” he said.
“Greetings to you too, Diana.” Six of the nearby guards, including Jeremy, whose horse was following closely behind the carriage, mounted up, prepared to go at the signal, and did so instantly.
Ella’s anxiety increased as she rode in the moving carriage with the King. She had been working as a maid at her father’s home only a week before, but now she was sitting next to the King, the all-Famous King.
Normally, the head of a pack would be referred to as “Alpha,” but Spenser insists that there must first be a “King.”
That was the one distinction between a pack Alpha and the ultimate Alpha. He was the King of everyone, and Ella could still sense the icy air about him.
Occasionally, she was compelled to peek up and see what he was up to, but she resisted the urge.
Queen Olivia stood at her window, peering down at King as he entered the carriage with Ella. She sat there nervously, her eyes fixed on her side of the quarter lamp. As she watched them both, a sick sensation began to rise in her throat.
she ought to do it, rather than some naive outsider. Why would Ella show up out of the blue!
To settle her anxiety, she took a big breath in. She would do everything it took to make sure Ella never had to go out with the King again.
Olivia saw that her servant was standing next to her, likewise staring out.
After finally mustering the courage to ask, Leena sighed pitifully. She said something to the effect of “It’s Viscar, My Queen,” and then she looked down.
Again, Olivia turned to the window and saw Viscar outside.
“And what about him? ”
She cast an almost comical expression at Leena as she inquired.
“I….. ‘I suppose he has a lover,’ she gasped. “Yesterday, he ordered a necklace-a necklace of the feminine kind, and it was painfully evident that he was planning to give it as a gift. Yes, we are both aware of…. It’s very evident that he intended the jewelry for someone else.”
Leena gave Olivia a pitiful look after she sneered at her. “Leena, please don’t lie to me about your feelings for that person. ”
When Leena said, “You know that’s the truth, My Queen,” the other woman cringed.
“Oh, stop being so dramatic, Leena. You are aware that Viscar is the King’s gamma. He has stronger ties to the King than his beta does. I don’t see why you believe he’d choose a maid who is also an Omega. “Leena felt a sharp pain in her heart at the words.
“Please hear me out, Leena; I really think you’re a good human being. Your being at my side indicates that you are. “While Leena was still sniffling, Olivia said, “But, I believe you need to keep your mind off Viscar so you don’t end up being sad.”
Ella was starting to feel lightheaded from the length of the journey. The king’s desire to depart so soon after his coronation makes sense. They were going to have a hard day of riding, and he knew it. The meeting wouldn’t likely last very long.
Spenser remained quiet, thinking over numerous things in his head. There were always too many issues for him to even try to live out.
