DIANA
I shrugged off the disturbing thoughts of Sylvester trying to harm me, I have a pocket knife and that alone should give me confidence to face him.
“I found drugs in Branden’s study cabinet, I don’t know what that means” I replied.
“What’s bad in having drugs? He is probably sick or something” Sylvester smirked. It’s so hard to keep up with him, why doesn’t he know when to quit.
“I’m not talking about medicine, I’m talking about hard drugs. Rusty lethal drugs in his cabinet”
“And why does that bother you?” He picked up his cup of coffee and took a sip.
“He is my man and I live in his house, If I find harmful substances where I live. Don’t you think I have the right to know what they are doing there?” I scowled his reply.
He sighed and went mute for while, I could see that he was feeling reluctant to speak up. There is definitely something he knows that I don’t.
After all, Branden is his brother so he should be aware of his brother’s affairs.
“Look Diana, I don’t think you should be meddling in Braden’s business, stop investigating about Branden” He warned mildly.
“And why is that? I have the right to know” my tone grew harsh. Why the hell won’t he tell me?
“You want to know so bad? Ok fine…. Branden was a drug lord years ago, he was into selling and buying of hard and dangerous drugs” Sylvester whispered irrespective of the fact that no one else was around.
My mouth fell to the ground. Branden? A drug lord? He looks nothing like a drug dealer. It was just too difficult to believe.
“Don’t speak about this to anyone, not even your closest friend. I was warned by Branden never to speak about this” He added.
If anyone had told me that Sylvester was the drug lord and Branden was never into it, I’d believe.
“Why did he stop drugs?” I inquired.
“He got into trouble with the police and after years in Jail, he abandoned drugs” Sylvester spilled the beans.
It was too hard to process such a disturbing information, Branden spent years in jail? He has never spoken about all this.
“Are you sure about what you’re saying?” I questioned in disbelief.
“It’s your choice to believe or not” he rolled his eyes and took another sip of his coffee.
“Do you know this people?” I pulled up my parent’s picture and handed it over to Sylvester. He glared at it for a while before returning it back to me.
“I don’t know them” he replied. Could he be lying? That wasn’t my concern, all I cared about was digging out the truth. I don’t have the strength to battle anyone.
“Ok thank you” I stood to my feet and walked over to door when Sylvester’s words froze me on the spot.
“We’ll be together someday” he said. I turned back to see that same maniac smile plastered on his face. I ignored his advances and left the house, Sylvester and I will never be together. No matter what happens.
I stepped into my car, ignited the engine and took off. I’ve gotten one deep dark secret about Branden that suddenly refuses to leave my head.
Why didn’t he say something about this to me? What made him spend years in jail? This must be one of Braden’s darkest secrets.
I’d never judge him for that but the basis of my investigation was about my parent’s picture in his study.
It doesn’t seem like much of a big deal but something is pushing me to keep digging in, I know it’s his privacy but if I’m going to be staying with him for the rest of my life then I must find out the whole truth.
While controlling the steering, an idea hit me. And that takes me to another point of my investigation, my parents were detectives and somehow I have those attributes.
I always loved to get more information on cases, irrespective of the fact that it wasn’t my field of study or career.
I have the resources to know more, so why not go deeper?
My next stop is Jaden; my tech savvy.
Jaden has always been of help when it came to delivering information from confidential sites and hacking into government based secret websites.
There was so much secret the government hid from the people, only Jaden and probably few geeks like him had the ability to get the information. Although the government has succeeded in adding extra security.
I need to somehow fish out the relationship between Branden and my parents, if it required hacking into a locked website, I trust Jaden to hack it.
I never thought I’d need his help again but here I am, following the coordinates to his house.
My phone beeped and I glanced it.
It was a direct message from Branden, what does he want? Does he know where I went to?
“Come home we need to discuss” Branden’s text caused jitters to run down my spine, his text was too straight forward, which is very unusual.
Am I in some sort of trouble? Oh shit! He must have figured out that I saw and took my parent’s picture from his study.
I know how angry Branden gets when I dig into his personal things, no wonder he always changed the topic or acted nonchalant when I asked him about his past.
But I never bothered to inquire more or disturb him because I saw nothing that triggered me to.
But right now, I am more than triggered but can’t ask him, if I do I’d just dent his relationship with Sylvester again.
As much as i hated Sylvester, I don’t want to reignite the hate they already have for eachother.
Another beep caught me off guard, it was a message from unknown number. I opened it and glanced at the message.
“I know what you are looking for, meet me at the old Bailey’s factory tonight, 10pm sharp….. I’ll give be you all the details”
Wait, What? Who the hell is this? Someone is watching me. Fuck! How am I going meetup with this person if Branden is going to keep me home tonight. How does this person know what I’m up to.
I’ll have to look for a way to escape the house to tonight
Someone is tracking and I must find out who this person is, additionally I’d finally get the full information I need about Branden and my parents.
Were they related or something? Did they meet in the past? This mystery was about to be unveiled and I can’t wait to see the truth behind everything.
