(Filippo Valentini)
“I’m coming, ragazza.” I warn as I wipe my hands on the flannel, I have finished washing the dishes for lunch.
“Are you going to meet your brothers?” She asks, coming closer.
“Yes.” I answer and button up the sleeves of my social shirt.
“Hum, about your cousin’s wedding, will you be there?” She asks as she fixes my tie.
“Yes.” I answer.
“I see.” She speaks and walks away. “Will I meet her one day?” She asks, leaning against the table.
“Yes.” I lie, if it were up to me, she would have no contact with any of my relatives.
“So, hum-hum.” She clears her throat. “Can I come with you to this wedding?”
I control myself not to snort with rage, damn Matteo and Vicenzo. The fact that I don’t want to take her as my date to this wedding is because I don’t know if I will run into Veronica and James, I don’t want to put her on enemy ground.
I can’t understand why I wanted to protect her, I started dating her because I wanted to kill my desire and know what it would be like to have my cock embraced by her soft virgin walls, but now, after tasting her several times, I’m hooked and I’m hesitating to leave her, it was never my plan to stay so long with only one woman, and being honest with myself, I’m not missing the entrance of other women, Renata’s leaves me much more than satiated, it’s like I need her and the more I eat, the hungrier I feel.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.” I speak slowly, hoping that she will accept without questioning me, I don’t know why, but I feel bad when I lie to her and her innocent bright eyes believing me, it’s strange, after I ask for the sparkle in her eye, the only people I cared about hurting her feelings were my mother and my brothers.
“Right.” She says, and at the same moment I feel relieved inside. “Tell them I said hello to your brothers.”
Without taking my eyes off her, I walk towards her and hold her waist and kiss her lips, but, as quickly as it started, Renata decides to end the kiss. I know she is suspicious and I don’t want her to question me anymore.
“See you later.” I say goodbye, but as I lower my head to kiss her forehead, Renata turns her face away from me.
“See you.” He says with his back turned.
“That’s cold.” I murmur.
As I leave the house, I pick up my cell phone and type the message:
Filippo:
I’ll be there in fifteen minutes.
Fratello Matteo:
Don’t be late.
I feel my mind racing, once again, I am surrounded by problems. What did Camily want by coming to my fucking house!
“Cazzo!” I curse and bang on the steering wheel as I get into the car.
I advanced the move with Renata so that she and my brothers would not meet, but… to my surprise, Matteo already knew who she was, and from my experience I know he gave a false explanation.
“What connection does Matteo have with Renata?” – I try to think of some hypothesis, but nothing comes to mind. I hate being left in the dark, I hate being lied to, and as much as I lie sometimes, I hate being lied to.
I stepped on the gas so hard that in less than fifteen minutes I was already out of the car in the garage of my real house.
“Punctual, as always.” Matteo speaks up as he sees me walking through the door.
“I want the truth.” I demand, sitting down in the armchair, facing him, who is sitting on the sofa holding a glass of whiskey in his hand.
Matteo says nothing, just looks at me, I know my brother, he is scheming and likes to manipulate people, I just don’t know what led him to put Renata in my path.
“It seems you liked my gift so much that you even put a house in her name.” She says and takes another sip of her drink.
I knew it!
“So all this time she was here under your orders.” I don’t ask, I affirm, but in my mouth I feel a bitter taste as I utter these words.
“She has no knowledge of me.” He says. “I just helped her get a job that would keep her safe, it’s not my fault that you took an interest in the girl.”
“Why does she need security?” I ask without understanding.
“She is someone who, let’s say, is important, but even she herself doesn’t know it. Yet.”
“Who is she?” I ask between my teeth.
I did a detailed investigation into her life. I know the data about her mother is strange, but in her life history I had nothing to connect her with my brother.
“When the time is right I’ll tell you.” He gets up.
“I want to know now!” I demand.
“I said: When the time is right, Filippo.” He repeats in a somber voice.
Matteo hates repeating himself and having someone challenge him. Shit!
“Giovanna’s wedding is tomorrow, don’t you dare arrive after the bride.” He warns me and leaves the room.
I don’t like to participate in mob weddings, I know that many women suffer from being dragged down the aisle by marrying a man who mistreats them. I’ve seen many cousins go through this, I’ve never been close to Giovanna, but I know she won’t be happy marrying one of those trash.
I come out of my reveries listening to my walkie-talkie, my head throbs again, I already feel sick just imagining hearing Camilly’s annoying voice.
“Listening.” I speak cold.
“Where are you?” She asks from the other side.
“That is none of your business.”
“Did you hear I was there?”
“Yes, what do you want?”
“Is it true that you are dating?”
“My private life is none of your business, boss.” I say, rolling my eyes.
“I have been trying to reach you for four days, why haven’t you answered my calls?”
“I was sick, the shot I got in the last operation left me unconscious for three days.” I answer. “Do you have a mission?”
“No, we are still investigating, I was worried about you, that’s why I called…”
I hang up the walkie-talkie before she finishes talking.
“Filippo?” I hear Vicenzo’s voice calling me.
“Yes?”
“Are you still going to the company today?”
“Yes, I need to check if the weapons are made as I ordered.”
“I want to go with you.”
“Okay, let’s go then.”
My brother and I got into the car and drove to the company.
**
I carefully open the bedroom door, it is already two in the morning, I have spent too much time with Vicenzo. He was stressed out for some reason and decided to relieve himself by beating me. No matter how hard I train, it seems that I will never be able to beat Vicenzo in a mano a mano fight. If it weren’t for his personality, Vicenzo would be even scarier than Matteo.
“What are you still doing?” I ask to see her sitting on the bed with her cell phone in her hand.
“I was talking to Amanda.” She answers without looking in my direction.
“Is she okay?” I ask, sitting up in bed, taking off my shoes.
“He is recovering.” He answers dry again.
I decided not to say anything more, she must still be angry with me.
I get out of bed and go to the bathroom, quickly shower, and when I get back to the bedroom, Renata is already lying down, all the lights are off, I join her on the bed, hold her waist, but before I can pull her up, Renata holds my hand.
“I’m hot.” He speaks without looking at me and takes my hand off his waist. “Sleep well, Filippo.”
“Why are you treating me so coldly?” He asked in agony.
Feeling her treating me like this is bothering me, I don’t want to receive this treatment, not from her.
“See you tomorrow, Filippo.”
“Renata?” I call her, but she doesn’t answer. I keep calling her for five more times, and I am ignored each time.
“Is she like this because I didn’t want to take her to the wedding?” – I think about that hypothesis.
“Do you want to go with me to the wedding? It will happen tomorrow.”
“It’s not a good idea for your relatives to meet me.” She answers coldly. “I don’t want to embarrass you in front of your relatives.”
“I am not ashamed of you.” I speak quickly.
“Please come with me, ragazza, forgive me for earlier.” I speak in an attempt to get her to be warm to me again, I don’t want to be in the same bed as her without smelling her near me.
I had never slept in the same bed as a woman before, but with Renata I feel at ease and now I’m even finding it strange not having her in my arms.
“Ragazza, please?” I ask once again.
