Lola’s pov,
Lola breathed in the rich forest air and sighed happily. The last couple of days had been amazing. Noah made her feel things she never knew existed. It was like she took off a blindfold and saw him for the first time since she accepted the mate bond. She hadn’t been out of the house much because they had spent every moment naked and entangled with each other. It was crazy how her whole body reacted with just a hint of his scent. She had to escape the house for a while because, to be honest, she was kind of worn out, but she knew that the moment she saw Noah her primal instincts would take over again.
And there she went again, her mind got filled with images of Noah’s naked body and she bit her lip thinking how his soft hands felt on her body. She was so lost in thought that she walked right into a tree. “Auch,” she said while rubbing her nose.
“You all right?” Fenna asked as she walked toward her from the field.
“Yeah, I am okay. My mind was just elsewhere.”
Fenna looked at her amused, “Mm I wonder where. Might it be at a certain alpha’s naked butt? I heard about your little spaghetti fest.”
Lola’s cheeks flushed, “Ow my god I am going to kill Laela. I certainly hope she didn’t tell the whole pack.”
Fenna laughed, “No worries. You don’t want to know all the crazy shit Tristan and I have been up to. The mate bond can be intense, especially in the beginning.”
Lola whistled, “Tell me about it.”
She put her arm through Fenna’s and together they walked back to the village.
“We are having another Fire Wolf remembrance party tonight. You want to come?” Fenna asked.
Lola thought the Fire Wolves were intriguing and she had been dying to find out more since she heard about Agnitus.
“I would love to! Could you do me one favor though?”
Fenna stopped, “Sure, what is it?”
“Invite Peter. I think he would really love to make some friends and he could use a bit of cheering up after the kidnapping and all,” Lola said.
Fenna stared at her for a little while, “You know for someone who acts all tough you are a marshmallow from the inside.”
Lola stuck out her tongue, “I will see you tonight then.”
When she came back Noah was gone, and he did not come home until it was already dark. He came in and immediately cupped her face with his hands before leaning in to kiss her. She wrapped her arms around his waist and pulled him close. The soft sensation of his lips immediately started a fire in her body, but she had no time to rip off his clothes and do some dirty business. With resistance, she pulled away. Noah growled, “Where do you think you’re going?”
Lola smiled, “As tempting as it is to stay in your arms all night I have somewhere to be.”
Noah raised his eyebrow, “Ow where are you going?”
Lola bit her lip unsure whether she should make up an excuse or tell him the truth.
Noah softly stroked her cheek, “You can tell me anything you know that right?”
The warm look in his eyes pushed over the edge and she said, “So there are these meetings where a bunch of people remember the Fire Wolves and tell stories about them. It is like a secret society, but they do nothing harmful.”
Noah chuckled, “That’s what you were nervous about telling me? I have known about that group for a while. I don’t mind.”
Lola looked at him stunned, “You knew?”
“I would be a shitty alpha if I didn’t know what was going on in my pack,” he said cockily before he kissed her forehead and continued, “It’s totally fine. Go have fun. Just don’t stay too long because I have my own activities in mind when you come back.”
Lola shook her head in amazement as she walked out of the door. That man kept surprising her. Fenna was already waiting for her and together they walked into the forest again. She didn’t tell her that Noah knew because she didn’t want to take away the fun of the “secret” meetings.
The bonfire was already burning brightly again, and Lola smiled when she noticed Peter talking enthusiastically with 2 women. It seemed like she made a good guess that this was exactly what he needed. She filled a mug with hot chocolate milk before she sat down at the fire. She listened to the crackling of the flames as the heat warmed her face. She loved fire, it made her feel warm and safe. She closed her eyes for a moment enjoying herself until she heard Tristan’s voice.
“To the new people Welcome. Today it will be my turn to tell a story and I thought it would be fitting to tell a love story because love is definitely in the air at the moment.”
He gave Lola a meaningful stare before he continued, “So today I will tell the best love story of them all. The story of how Agnitus met Venus.”
Lola stared into the flame and visualized every word that came out of Tristan’s mouth.
“Agnitus saved the werewolves from mankind, but he did not believe all humans were bad. He was in fact greatly intrigued by them. He visited different cities in human form to study humans and try to understand their behavior. On one of his journeys, he went to a festival. The festival was in honor of the daughter of the richest family in the village. They were celebrating that she came of age and was ready for marriage proposals. The moment Agnitus saw Venus he knew she was his mate. With her ivory skin, blue eyes, and long blond hair she was exactly what he imagined an angel would look like. At the festival, suiters could perform for Venus to let her know they were interested. Some knights demonstrated combat, nobility with gifts, and many more but Venus was bored by them all. Agnitus went to the stage and sang to her about a world of wonders, werewolves, and magic but none were as magical as the woman in front of him. Taken by his intriguing serenade Venus told her parents she wanted to marry Agnitus. Her parents however had no intention to marry her off to a stranger without titles or money. Venus refused to marry anyone else, and her parents decided to lock her away in a tower somewhere far away until she would come to her senses. Venus had no time to say goodbye, but she left Agnitus a note that said wherever she was she would wait for him. She would light a candle at her window every day in the hope that he would find her. Agnitus never gave up looking and traveled the world until finally he picked up her scent months later. When he arrived at the tower at night a candle was lit and Agnitus knew his love waited for him. He poured all his burning love out and the flame destroyed everything in his path except Venus. She was waiting for him with open arms, ready for him to take her away and never look back.”
Lola held her breath from wonder as she listened to the story. She envisioned Agnitus walking through the flames to his lover. Tristan’s voice disappeared into the background and it seemed like the flames came to life. Lola blinked several times and crawled backward when a big wolf walked out toward her.
“FROM THE ASHES WE SHALL RISE,” It howled
Lola screamed when the big flaming wolf jumped and leaped straight at her!
