Best Friends Don’t Keep Secrets

Book:The Witch And The Dragon Clan Published:2024-5-1

“To my long lost friend who I can’t remember…. To the memories I yearn for….
To the love and friendship that is lost…
What must I do to get you back….
What must I do to feel your true friendship once more.” Mrs Becky read from her book, *Poems recorded in historical ages* I don’t know why but there was something about this poem that called onto me, it felt like the poets was actually speaking to me.
“This particular poem was writing by the infamous Aria Stark in the year 15BC.” The teacher explains and now I get why the poem was calling onto me. Aria wrote the poem for me.
“According to Aria, she had this feeling deep down in her that there was a certain person out there in the word she couldn’t remember, but felt she had this perfect connection with the person, a true friendship. Maybe a dear friend from her childhood… or someone she had a short encounter with. She couldn’t tell. Her very good friend the queen, Freya the first shared In her sentiments. And maybe because of their each forgotten friendship, this was the reason they became best of friends.” Mrs Becky paused, wiped the board clean…. She wrote on the board *FORGOTTEN*
“More of Aria poems were on forgotten encounters and memories. You would be able to find books on Aria poems at the book stores. Buy it and read it. This will be the end of todays class.” Mrs Becky ended the class.
Students in the class wasted no time in getting up from their seats exiting the classroom, Britney and I inclusive.
“You know that is kind of messed up, remembering you once had a friend you shared a bond with but not actually remembering who the friend is. I don’t want to ever forget you Anastasia.” Britney pouts sadly.
It might be sad that Freya and Aria does not remember me, but I’m glad they do know of my presence. And I can’t believe all Aria’s poems were actually dedicated to me.
“You won’t ever forget me silly.” Pushing her head slightly backwards with my index finger.
“Ouch.” She frowns rubbing her forehead.
“Let’s go have lunch. My stomach is crying out for some food.” I said to her locking my locker, and together we walked to the cafeteria.
I brought a coke and a burger, while Britney brought French fries and also a bottle of coke. We sat down on our favorite seats in the cafeteria that’s really close to the cafeteria door, course we get to see new faces we have never seen before.
*If you want to meet with new people, I believe the cafeteria is your first option*
Britney and I sat down, I couldn’t help but be happy that I am back at the present time. I can’t believe I was actually considering leaving my best friend and technology for the past.
I can’t stop staring at my phone since I arrived to the present… which was yesterday. Living in the past made me realize phone is actually one of the best gadgets man ever made. Like why spend so much time searching for someone when I could just call that person on my phone and pass whatever information that needs to be passed on.
I remember Arkalis would have to wait for weeks… if not a month to get a reply in his letter it’s so frustrating. He was only able to send letters quicker, if he was sending it to his fellow witches/wizard like him.
“I have never seen you so addicted to your phone before.” Britney stared at me wide eye… I had to drop my phone immediately.
Staring at her makes me feel weird a little bit, cause she looks so much like Freya and maybe this is the reason why I didn’t really miss her so much. The only difference between her and Freya is the hair. Freya has a dark colored hair, while Britney is a brunette.
I unwrapped my burger then took a big bite from the burger. “Ohh my Goddddd, hmmmmm. This is so tasty. It’s been so long since I had a burger. Fuckkkkkk.” I moaned… the taste of the burger rolling simultaneously on my tongue. It’s so gooooooood.
“Why are you acting like you haven’t had a burger for like a month.” Britney raised an eyebrow… giving me a confused stare.
“Tell me about it. I haven’t had a single burger for the past three months. Three months Britney’s!!” I exclaimed, vigorously stuffing my mouth with the burger. It taste like heaven in my mouth, I’m definitely buying another one.
“You had burger last week.” She huffed and at that moment I realized myself.
“I know right, but it feels like three months, that is how much I have come to love and miss it. I’m getting another one.” I stood up from the chair I was sitting on.
“Wow I never knew you love burgers so much to the point of overreacting over it.” She shakes her head chuckling. Phew, I’m glad she didn’t think much of it. Well, is not like she was about thinking that I just returned from time traveling.
I actually do feel bad that I am hiding all this from her. The dragon clan didn’t instructs me to not tell anyone… so, why can’t I tell my best friend then.
I’m sure she would be excited to know that her friend is a real witch. I brought another burger then went back to my seat.
“You know your voice sounds different and you act different. When you saw me earlier today, you wouldn’t stop telling me of how you missed me so much and how glad you are to see me. If I didn’t know better I would have thought you went on a really long vacation. But that’s not possible since I just saw you about two days ago.” Britney said thoughtfully. I sighed, I should tell her the truth.
“Britney I have something that I really do have to share with you right now. Let’s go to our usual hangout.” I said to her standing up, my mind already made up to tell her everything.
She raised an eyebrow curiously but nevertheless stood up. I took hold of my burger and coke, then together we left the cafeteria to our school’s abandoned event’s hall. Since our dean built a new and improved event hall, no one remembered this hall still exits.
“What I’m about to tell you Britney is top secret, it should only be between the both of us. No outsider, no third party.” I warned strictly, staring at her dead serious.
“Cool. I love secrets.” She claps her hands together happily.  “And you should know that your secrets are always safe with me.” She added. I smiled gratefully.
“Umm… how do I say this…” I gulped scratching the back of my head. How do I break the news of my powers to my best friend.
“I’m waiting.” She pouted.
“Britney, I’m a witch.” I let it out refusing to think anymore. I released a huge breathe happy to finally get it off my mind. I really do hate keeping secrets from Britney.
“Ha! That’s so funny.” She breaks into a wild laughter, while holding onto her stomach.
I just stared at her as she laughed, my eyes twitching from her laughter. I can’t believe she think I’m cracking a joke.
She slowly stops laughing, wiping away her tears… “Okay I’m ready. Now tell me the secret.” I could literally see her ears standing up on attention. Her face void of any remnants of laughter, her eyes staring into mine… reflecting how serious she is.
“That was the secret.” I drawled, my anger increasing every seconds… I’m her best friend, so even if I tell her that I’m an alien, is her duty to believe me.
“Who are you? And what have you done to my best friend. The Anastasia I know is definitely not a sicko.” Wow, now she’s calling me a sicko. She is indirectly saying that I have lost my mind.
“Okay fine, I will prove it to you.” I glared at her.
She folds her hands below her boobs, “Then prove it. I’m waiting.”
I snickered, right before her very own eyes, I made a fireball… I made it float above my palm.
“Ohh my God. That’s a fire, and is floating above your hand. How are you doing that?” She points at me crazily, her eyes getting bigger with each passing seconds. She is finding it so hard to believe what she is seeing.
“Ohh you think this is shocking. I will show you something much more unbelievable.” I smirked with pride.
“What.. could be more… more shocking than you producing fire from your very own hands.” She stuttered.
I stretched my hands to the two glass window right next to us, then I broke it.. shattering it to pieces.
“Ahhhhhhh.” Britney yelled covering her ears. She stared at the broken glasses of the window fearfully… “What was that Anastasia. I know you are trying to get me to believe you, but this would definitely put us in trouble.”
So she’s scared of getting called in by the school authorities but not by me who is actually showing her my powers. I guess that is because she knows that I can never hurt her, and I’m glad she knows that.
“Did you really think that.. that was the magic I wanted to show you. If that is what you thought, then you are wrong.” I grinned from ear to ear.
“Then what is the magic?” She questioned confused.
“Watch.”
I chanted an amendment spell and then both windows repaired itself, leaving no sign of a broken glass.
“Oh my, oh my, oh my God. Those windows were broken to pieces. I saw it, they were broken… how could the windows be able to repair itself. No way, you are truly a witch. My friend is a witch!” She gasped covering her mouth, as the reality of my witchery sets in.
“Yes I am.” I gave a slight bow.
“Wow… I don’t even know what to say. What more can you do? Can you make real money? Can you cure all kinds of diseases? Can you make someone wealthy or poor? Can you bring a dead person back to life? Ohh… Can you…”
“Wow! For someone who doesn’t know what to sir. You sure do have a lot to ask.” I cut in before she could go on with her numerous questions.
“And no. I can’t do all of those things you asked, although I can cure diseases… depends on what kind. But as a good witch I can’t use my powers for personal things like money.”
“So… you can’t make a person wealthy?..” she drawls playing with her fingers.
“I can cast a spell for success and wealth, and if it’s in the person’s destiny to get wealthy or be successful, then the spell would work.” I answered sighing tiredly.
“Wow, that is nice. I want to be a witch.” She grumbled pouting. I could only shake my head, why am I not surprised?
“I’m sorry I called you a sicko.” She apologized, staring down at her foot. I chuckled.
“It’s okay. Apology accepted.”
“Thank you.” She hugs me really tightly.
As we separated from the hug she asked… “But how is all this possible? Have you always known about your witch powers since we were kids? And if the answer to this is *yes* then how could you hide it from me all this years?” I could tell she was already getting angry at my imaginary betrayal. She’s just too much, and I love her that way.
“I found out about it recently. So if you will seat down, I will tell you everything you need to know.” I pointed at a chair not too far away, and she goes on to seat on it. I dragged a chair close by to and kept it right in-front of her.
I went on to narrate everything to her, from my meeting with Christian to the moment I returned from the past.
“Wow. Everything you just told me.. sounds so unbelievable.” She stands up from the chair with a look of unbelief on her face.
“Mrs hardy story about half dragon half human is true, and she is actually part of the clan. And your parents are really dead, you have also met with your Aunty and uncle.” She paused… turns around and gave me bewildered look.
“Who would even believe that you are an offspring of a really great and powerful wizard, and as if that is not enough, you are the only one who could break the curse of the Dragon’s clan.” She throws her hands up in the air in exclamation.
Then she frowns… “But is also painful that you have someone with the most stupidest name ever *Terror* who is out there trying to kill you. Even in the past the terror of a person still tried to kill you. I hate this person already, and I wish I can kill this person.” She folds her hand into a fist.
“You won’t be able to, he is powerful.” I state.
“I know that.” She rolled her eyes, frowning.
“At least now I can understand your love for burger and your obsession with your phone. I won’t even be alone to survive a day in the past. What would I do without visiting my social media accounts. I can’t even bring myself to believe that you just returned from a three months journey just last night.” Britney shakes her head in disbelief, her words rushed. I knew she wasn’t done talking, so I stayed quiet.
“And as if your time travel isn’t shocking enough, The hot guy that dropped you off the other day is a part of this dragon clan. Now I have to wonder if any guy I come across in the street, is also part of the clan or maybe worse, he turns into a rat by day. Wait! What If that is possible?.” She gasped loudly.
“I don’t think it is.” I laughed at her wild imagination.
“We should head back to the school. We should be having a lecture right about now.” I said getting up from the chair. Britney also gets up and together we left the hall.
As we approached the class our lecture would be holding in, she whispered in my ear… “I’m glad to have a witch as a best friend. It makes me feel powerful and not afraid of any being. Be it a human or not.” She placed a kiss on my cheek and on my forehead, I couldn’t help but smile broadly.
“I’m glad to also have you as best friend.” I replied her, also placing a kiss on her cheek.
We held hands while walking into the lecture hall.
