I know I just wanted to come learn magic, but I have come to love the past. For some reason I’m not ready to head back to the present. Maybe is because I have a family right here in the past, I have Freya and Aria, and also Arkalis who Is the father of my lineage. I have just never experienced much love in my life as I have experienced here.
I don’t think I can leave the past and just go into the present time, to worsen it all… They would not be able to remember me.
I smiled sadly at Arkalis, looking so helpless. I have no say in the matter, this is not where I belong.
“Don’t worry, I would try to keep your memory fresher in my head. I am glad that before I died I did not only meet my offspring from the future but was able to pass on my knowledge of magic to her.” He gave me a hug, taking me by surprised. I never thought Arkalis had the spirit of hugging in him.
“We should go and meet the others.” Arkalis walks over to the door and I stood up.
“Do I have to tell the others. You did say that time would fix itself, they would not remember me.” Maybe leaving without saying goodbye would be the best. Maybe I would feel better.
Arkalis turns around, “Well that is up to you to decide. You can either say goodbye or just leave. It won’t make a difference to them, but would you love the difference it would make for you.” He shrugged his shoulders and then walks out of the room, I did the same.
When we got to the dinning room, everyone was already seated, Arkalis and I joined them on the sinking table.
“Wow, this is a big feast.” I states staring at the widespread of food on the dinning table.
“Yes, to welcome both you and Christian back home. The both of you have gotten so thin, I need you guys to stuff your mouth with as much food as possible.” Aria said, dishing out food on Christian’s plate while Freya dishes out food for me.
I smiled happily and started eating.
“Ohh my goodness, this is so tasty. I love this.” I moaned out as the food hit my tongue.
“Glad you did. It’s your favorite.” Freya said, adding more food to my plate.
I suddenly broke down in tears, I tried to stop the tears…. But it wouldn’t just stop.
“What is wrong Anastasia.” Christian asked with worry, his hands on my shoulder.
I stared at the face of Freya and Aria. I shouldn’t say a thing to Christian while they are here, I have to leave without saying goodbye.
“I just feel so happy to be eating good food again.” I laughed in between my downpour of tears.
Freya laughed, Aria joined her.
“I’m glad we asked the chef to cook so much.” Freya said to Aria.
“Yeah, we should definitely do this again just to get her priceless reaction.” Aria let’s out laughing hysterically. And I could only smile sadly, how can I tell them… that we won’t be doing this again.
Christian and I ate to our satisfaction, till we couldn’t stomach anything more in our stomach. I thanked Aria and Freya for their nice decisions in making so much food, thanked Arkalis then left the dinning room, heading straight for my room.
A knock comes on my room door the minute I hit the bed, “Come in.” I yelled. Christian walks into my room, and I sat up on my bed wondering why he is here. Has Arkalis told him that we would be leaving.
“That was a really big outburst in the dinning room..” He states, sitting on the bed besides.
“Yeah, I guess so.” I replied shrugging. I guess Arkalis hasn’t told him yet then.
“You want to tell me what is all about?”
I sighed, opened my mouth to speak…. “And don’t you dare give a weak excuse saying is because of the food.” He countered, stopping me before I could say a thing. Although I wasn’t planning on lying to him.
“I was not planning on doing that. Arkalis gave this to me.” I brought out the wand from where I have kept it in my bedside drawer, and showed it to Christian.
“Okay, he gave you a wand. What about it?” He asked looking confused.
“It’s a farewell gift.” I said sadly.
“Wow. So our time is up already, we have to head back to the present time.” He stands up from the bed and paced around the room.
“Believe me, I have even forgotten we have to return back to the present.” He said.
“I thought I was the only one.” I sighed laying down back on my bed, staring at the ceiling.
“Is definitely going to be hard for Freya and Aria to part ways with you. When are you going to tell them?” He questioned, this time around he was seated back on the bed.
“I do not plan on telling them.” I replied, my gaze still directed to the ceiling.
“Why, you should give them a chance of knowing you would be leaving.” Without staring at him, I could tell he was frowning at my decision to leave quietly. I sat up.
“Arkalis said they won’t be able to remember me, time would fix itself the second we return back to the present.” I explained to him.
“So… they won’t have a single memory of us?”
“Yes.”
“Well that’s not nice. But i still think you should let them know. Do you think you’re going to be okay parting ways with people you have come to love and see as your friends without a proper goodbye. You would definitely regret it.” His words made sense to my hearing, maybe I should do it then.
“I will leave you to your decision making, while I go pack my stuffs.” He pats me on the leg and then exit the room.
If I’m to go back to the present time without a single goodbye to my friends, I might actually regret it… just like Christian had said. Even though they won’t be able to remember me, I guess I am enough to hold on to all the memories I have made here.
I stood up from the bed with agility, I should say goodbye before it’s too late.
I went in search of Aria first, told her to meet by the stream that I had to go look for Freya, and would be with her shortly. Then I went in search of Freya next, found her and then we went to the stream together.
“I was already getting tired waiting here, all by myself.” Aria said the minute she set eyes on us.
“Sorry, I was not able to find Freya so easily.” I apologized sitting down next to Aria on the ground, dipping my feet into the water.
“Apology accepted.” She replied all smiles.
“So what is it you want to tell us?” Freya questioned sitting next to me on the grass, also dipping her feet in the water.
“Well… I would be leaving tomorrow.” I stared at my hand not being able to look at them.
“To where? And when will you be coming back? And why are you just telling us?” Aria asked all at once in one breathe.
“Back to where I belong, I won’t be coming back. I would have told you guys if I knew I would be leaving since, I just found out.” I answered all her questions.
“Wait. Do you mean you are going back to the future.” Freya asked in shock, I nod my head slowly. Aria gasped, covering her mouth in shock.
“But why now. I didn’t think you would be going so soon, I don’t want you to leave just yet.” Freya hugs me as tears rolls down her eyelids.
“I don’t want to go either, but I have a whole clan waiting for my arrival and I can’t keep on avoiding my destiny.” I let out sadly, returning her hug.
“I have gotten so used to having you as a friend, and now I can’t believe I won’t be seeing your face around the house anymore.” Aria cried out joining in the hug.
“I’m so sorry girls.” I rubbed their back softly, as they shed more tears.
Freya lifts her head up, “You don’t have to apologize. I get it that you don’t belong here, so is alright for you to go back. I promise to cherish all the memories I had with you forever.”
I bit my lip at the last words she said… “About that..” I couldn’t find the right words on how to say it that they wouldn’t even be able to remember the time we spent together.
“About what?” Aria questioned raising her head.
I scratched the back of my head thinking of a better way to break it to them. “The both of you would lose all memories of my stay in the past once I’m gone.”
“What! Why? Why do we have to forget you. Would Arkalis give us something to drink or spell us unknowingly. Would he make us forget you.” Freya yelled hysterical.
“No Freya, he wouldn’t. That is far from the case…”
“Then if it isn’t Arkalis. Why do we have to forget you?” Aria chips in before I could explain to them on why they were going to forget me.
“Because time would repair itself, and since I don’t belong in this present time, once I leave… all memories of me would disappear.”
“Ohh my.” Freya covers her mouth, her eyes revealing how sad she is.
“So I won’t get to remember having you as a friend, as a sister, all the times we have had fun together. I won’t even remember that I was once possessed by an evil person and almost killed you. All this memories would vanish.” Aria mumbled hysterical, more tears rolling down her cheeks… I couldn’t bring myself to talk so I only nod my head in reply.
“Well… I had rather spend my last moments with you making new memories. Even though I end up forgetting them.” Aria said standing up.
“You are right Aria. Crying wouldn’t solve anything, this is beyond us. We should indeed spend out last moment happy. I wouldn’t want Anastasia remembering me as cry baby.” Freya wipes her tears, smiling at me as she stood up.
I smiled at them happily, also standing up on my feet.
“Last person to get the edge of the stream is a loser!!” Freya yelled pulling off her clothes and jumping into the river immediately.
I chuckled and pulled off mine too, Aria followed and together we jumped into the stream.
****************************************************************************************
“I am seriously going to miss you Anastasia.” Freya wailed loudly hugging me so tightly. I’m about leaving for the future.
“I will try my possible to not forget you.” Aria cried out.
“I’m also going to miss the both of you. And don’t worry, I will remember the memories we made for all of us.” I placed kisses on both their foreheads happy to have them as a friend.
“You are going to be a great queen Freya. And you Aria would become a great poet, history would always remember you. I am so happy to have made friends with such historical ladies. I love you both.” I said to them showing off my dentures through the tears.
“Can I please have the chance to talk to her.” Arkalis said, and they both separated from me.
“You are going to do so well at fulfilling your destiny. I know you would break the curse that I started.” He pats me on the shoulder and I nod tearfully.
“Let’s not forget, is time I give you what you truly need.” He took hold of both my hand, said some spell and then the next seconds were beyond anything I could describe. I can only say that I felt a surged of power flowing through my veins.
Because Arkalis dies without passing his magic, his magic remained with his body. His scepter did find me as the one noble to have his magic, and that is why he is able to share his magic with me. According to Arkalis this would help awaken the true magic in me the one that connected with his scepter… the true magic of Arkalis the wizard and then it would become mine. I hope the magic actually awakens before I face the terror.
“Thank you.” I said to him.
“You are welcome.”
“Well… goodbye guys.” I waved at freya and Aria.
“Goodbye Christian, goodbye Anastasia.” They both said.
I turned around, recited some spells and was able to create the portal. Without looking back I stepped into portal.
Everyone was at the hall in the same arrangements we had left them.
“I guess three months in the past, means only seconds in the future.” Christian said from behind me.
“I told you, it would be like you never left.” Christian’s mother says, having a welcoming smile on her face.
“Welcome back, and hopefully Anastasia, you got all the knowledge you need in breaking the curse.” Mr Grey said more like in a questioning way.
“Hopefully I do.” Came my only reply.
