SLAP!
Before Pamela could finish the sentence, Diego suddenly slapped her across her face.
“Diego?! What the heck?” Pamela screamed, and her face was red. She dropped her phone as her eyes went watery. She stared at her husband in disbelief.
Diego’s hands were trembling as he pointed at the woman before him, “You have the audacity to ask me that! Look what you’ve done!”
“You’re protecting her?! You’re protecting this whore?! How could you do this to me? Are you still in love with her?” Pamela screeched, clawing at Cristelle’s face, “I’ll kill her today!!”
Before Pamela could get close, Diego suddenly grabbed her shoulders and threw her away, “Try to touch her once, and I’ll break your hands, witch! Now, fuck off!”
“I’ve called 911 before I came here. The police will be here soon. None of you can get away with what you’ve done today.” Cristelle struggled to stand up, observing the room of people coldly.
Pamela was sprawling across the floor, struggling to her feet, “Diego, did you hear that? This bitch still wants us in jail! Why did you protect her? Why?!”
Pamela was wailing like a ghost at this point. The two men she hired didn’t dare to say anything. They didn’t expect Mr. Barnett to be so ruthless for a third wheel.
That woman just said she had called the police. Would they be thrown in jail as well? Damn this, Pamela chick! This was all her fault!
“Diego, look at me. Do you know where my sister is or not? If you know where she is, just tell me, and I’ll withdraw the charge,” Cristelle forced herself to stay calm, “The police will be here soon. Pamela will be thrown in jail after what she has done to my son and me. Your house will be destroyed. Just think about it. Are you going to tell me or not?”
She had tried everything to get Claire’s information. Finally, she must know where she was.
“Cristelle… Why do you have to do this to yourself?” Diego felt his heart wrenched when he saw Cristelle like this.
“Are you gonna tell me or not?” Cristelle screamed, her eyes bloodshot.
Diego had been hiding her sister’s whereabouts from her all this time. She didn’t know about his purpose. Maybe he only wanted to save this piece of information and use it to exchange something more important in the future.
Cristelle felt cornered. She didn’t know what else they wanted from her.
Whatever it was, they wouldn’t get what they wanted!
Diego hated the situation, but he couldn’t stop feeling heartbroken when he saw Cristelle’s reaction. He was reluctant to give up the potential benefits. But if the police came, the loss of his company would be beyond calculating.
“DON’T TELL HER! Diego! She’s lying to you! She’s nothing but a cunning slut! Don’t listen to her, Diego! You need to trust me. Just this once,” Pamela stood up, wavering on her feet as she screamed. She was gonna get what she wanted. She was only one step away. No one could ruin it for her.
“Shut up!” Diego bellowed, scooping Cristelle in his arms, “Ssh… Cristelle, it’s okay. I’m sending you to the hospital now.”
Someone has already started to knock on the door right now. It was the police.
“This is your last chance, Diego,” Cristelle coldly said as she looked Diego in the eyes.
“Fine. I’ll tell you,” Diego finally whispered against Cristelle’s ear after weighing the whole thing up. Cristelle remembered what he said as she asked coldly, “Send the mail to my mailbox. I need to know the details.”
Diego could only say yes.
“Diego! How could you be so stupid? How could you tell her that?” Pamela started to cry. The door of the room was kicked open at this moment. Linford and Officer Charles burst in together.
That bitch really called the police!
A fine film of sweat covered Pamela’s head. Luckily, they didn’t continue with whatever they were gonna do.
But Mr. Bradley… Why was he here?
“Cristelle,” Linford went to take Cristelle away from Diego’s arms instantly.
“Inspect the whole room and cuff the suspects,” Officer Charles could tell from how Cristelle looked that she had been drugged.
Pamela ran toward Diego, hiding herself behind her husband’s back, “What are you doing? I… I didn’t do anything!”
Diego glared at Pamela. This stupid woman!
“Officer Charles, they don’t have anything to do with this. I came here voluntarily, and we just had a cup of drink. I think I’m only a bit drunk. So you don’t need to hold them responsible.” Before Cristelle could finish the sentence, she just fainted.
Linford’s handsome face was instantly clouded by anger. What did she just say?
He held Cristelle tighter in his arms before he stared at Diego, “Mr. Barnett, I’ll be expecting your explanation about this.”
With that, he turned away and walked out of the room. Cristelle needed to go to the hospital now.
“Drew? I was hoping you could arrive at Cristelle’s apartment in ten minutes. She was drugged. Bring whatever you need with you,” Linford hung up the phone and stomped against the gas.
This woman was too impulsive. How could she go to places like that all alone?
Had she even considered her babies?
****
Drew rushed to Cristelle’s apartment instantly after hearing what Linford had ordered him. Fritzi was the one who opened the door.
“Huh? Drew, what are you doing here?” Fritzi looked like she had no clue about what had just happened.
Drew entered the room, looking around, “Where’s Cristelle?”
Fritzi scrunched her nose, “She’s out. She hasn’t come back yet. What happened to you? You look awful.”
“Where’s Cody then?” Drew asked again.
Fritzi pointed at the little bedroom, “He’s in that room. I don’t know what he’s doing, though. He’s been acting all mysterious.”
Drew burst into the boy’s room. Cody was sitting before a computer, typing something on the keyboard.
Drew narrowed his eyes and saw a map on the screen.
“Cody, is your mom okay?” Drew hastily asked.
