Diego still thought Cristelle was the woman five years ago. Her reaction didn’t seem like she had any connections with Linford Bradley. What Linford had done was probably purely out of benefit. Diego thus got less worried.
“Cristelle, could you let Pamela go? Just name a price. I’ll give you the money no matter how much you want.”
Cristelle laughed coldly, “Okay. I want you to give me back everything you stole from my family.”
Diego froze. Cristelle’s father had been a criminal, but the Barnett House and the Lim House also had used that chance to steal Friesley’s property, forcing Cristelle and her sister into a corner.
“I know you will never forgive me, but things have passed,” Diego sounded apologetical as he looked at Cristelle, “I’m deeply sorry. But can we be reasonable? The two things are totally different. Cristelle, I’m deeply sorry. But can we be reasonable? The two things are totally different. Cristelle, I’m begging you to withdraw the charge. I swear that I’ll take care of you and your babies from today. Will you give me this chance?”
So, he only showed up to apologize when things had come to this stage?
“Diego, you disgust me. I let you in because I want you to know that your wife almost killed my son. I’ve got all the evidence I need, and I will make her pay,” Cristelle glared at him.
“But the way you deal with the whole thing will bring disasters to both parties. Linford helped you because of his business. He won’t protect you for the rest of your life,” the hidden meaning of Diego’s words was threatening.
Cristelle laughed, “So, you’re here holding the same purpose as your mom. You’re here to threaten me, right? I know your wife is important to you, but my son is my everything. He’s been hurt. And I won’t let that pass easily. You and your family have done enough. I won’t give up this time. Diego Barnett, I’m telling you right now. Don’t you ever show up by my doorstep because I won’t surrender this time no matter what you say or do?”
Diego sighed, “Cristelle, I’m not trying to threaten you. Linford is using you for his company. He won’t cast you an extra glance once you become useless to him. I know you are doing this because you’re still angry. But one day, you’ll find yourself helpless. Just give me a chance. I only want to protect you and your babies.”
Cristelle sighed, “Stop saying anything. I’m gonna throw up. You don’t want to protect us. You just defend your benefits. Diego, I’ve never expected you to be sinking so low. Just cut the crap and leave my house. I’ll call the police if you don’t leave right now.”
Diego looked shocked as he looked in the bedroom’s direction. Then, out of nowhere, he suddenly asked, “Cristelle, I have a question. Why did you get pregnant?”
Why?
Cristelle was so sick and tired of this. She regretted letting this clown in, “I won’t answer your questions. Just leave already, or I’ll call the police,” Saying that, she grabbed her phone and dialed 911. Diego didn’t expect her to really do that.
He stepped forth and grabbed Cristelle’s wrist, “Don’t.”
“What are you doing? Let me go!” Cristelle’s voice raised.
Diego didn’t let her go as he looked her in the eyes. This woman used to be the love of his life. She was still as beautiful as before. But the way she looked at him had changed.
He still couldn’t let her go. He still wanted to protect her.
“Let my mom go! You massive pervert!”
Cody kicked the door open as he dashed out with a toy gun in his hands. He pulled the trigger and hit Diego’s forehead with plastic bullets. Diego gasped as he clasped a hand on his forehead.
Cody had been observing through the door crack. Once he sensed the danger, he just ran out.
Cristelle extended an arm toward her boy, “Come over here, Cody!”
Cody hissed toward Diego, “I’ve called the police! Officer Charles will be here soon! You’ll be thrown in jail if you don’t leave right now!”
Officer Charles?
The leader of the police?
Diego didn’t expect them to be so familiar with the police officer. He looked closely at the boy, only to find that he looked extremely like Linford. An awful idea thus generated in his mind.
It was impossible!
He knew Cristelle. She would never have any connections with the Bradley family.
The doorbell started to ring again.
Linford and Charles arrived together.
Cody yelled, “Officer! Look! We’ve got a pervert here! He just tried to grab Mom’s hand!”
Things suddenly go extremely awkward after Cody says that.
Cristelle blushed, “Cody! Stop saying that!”
Cody’s eyes widened, “I’m not lying. He just grabbed your hand, and he refused to let you go!”
Cody was determined to throw that pervert in jail today.
Cristelle blushed even more furiously. She cast a glance at Linford, meeting his steady gaze.
Cristelle looked away. Would he think she was some sort of easy woman? Well…It was not like they were married, was it? She didn’t care what he thought about her.
Linford’s cold gaze fell on Diego.
This man was bold enough to harass his woman and his babies!
“Mr. Barnett? Why are you here?” Officer Charles looked shocked.
Diego cleared his throat, “I’m only here to talk to Cristelle. I didn’t expect things to turn out like this.”
He sounded vaguely angry.
Diego was a man who valued his pride. What just happened made him feel humiliated before Linford.
Cristelle’s voice was cold and clear, “Nothing really happened. It’s just a mistake. Mr. Barnett, please leave my house right now. I’ve said it, and I’ll say it again. It won’t happen, and I’ll never give up.”
“You….” Diego felt humiliated being kicked out in front of so many people. He wanted to say something more, but Linford was still here watching. So he left in the end, defeated.
“Wait!” Cody shouted behind his back as he threw the gifts at him, “You can take your things away. We don’t need them.”
Diego didn’t grab the things he took here, walking out of the apartment and slamming the door.
