Soon, Cody woke up, and it was already night. He went downstairs and saw Cristelle crouching on the sofa, and sadness filled her beautiful face.
Cody hastily walked to her and hummed, “Mommy, I’ll protect you and Candace.”
Cristelle raised her face and smiled, “I know. Cody is always the best.”
She knew what had happened earlier was a huge blow to the boy. She knew Cody was sad, but he still accepted Linford as his sister. Cristelle sighed, “Cody, you know I love you and Candace the best. I only hope you and Candace can grow up happily.”
Cody nodded slowly, “I know. And we will be together with you forever.”
Cristelle lowered her body and left a kiss on his head, “Go wake up, Candace. It’s time for dinner.”
“Okay,” Cody went back to the bedroom.

Meanwhile, in Barnett’s mansion, Mrs. Barnett almost cried when she saw his son, “Diego, I think I made a huge mistake today.”
Diego was still busy with Pamela’s case. He hurried to ask as he heard his mom say, “What’s wrong? What happened?”
“… I ran into Mr. Bradley today when I went to visit Cristelle,” Mrs. Barnett seemed like she was still in big shock.
“It doesn’t matter. The whole thing is up to Cristelle anyway. Linford doesn’t have a say, I can change my business partner as long as I can get Pamela out of this.”
Mrs. Barnett thought of what had happened this morning, shaking her head subconsciously, “I don’t think it will work. That man seems extremely protective over Cristelle. Cristelle must have also found that. Or she wouldn’t be so tough in front of us.”
Diego arched an eyebrow. Did Cristelle and Linford really…
“What if they refused to negotiate? What are we gonna do about Pamela? She could be thrown back in jail at any time. I read the news on my way back. Those journalists have started to report the whole thing.” Mrs. Barnett seemed worried so much.
Diego seemed less concerned, “It’s okay. Linford only wants money. We can give their company more benefits, and they will just give Pamela’s freedom back.”
“Pamela is so stupid! She should’ve talked about this with me beforehand. What she did bring disasters to our company. She ruined everything!” Mrs. Barnett started to hate Pamela.
Outside of the door, Pamela clapped a hand against her mouth.
She was also regretting it deeply right now. To be honest, Mrs. Barnett had been treating her really well. She also didn’t know what to do after making a huge mistake. Cristelle was such a whore! It was all her fault!
Why couldn’t she just get rid of her? “Mom, stop worrying. I’ll go talk with them and make them drop the charge.” Diego decided to go by himself.
Mrs. Barnett was worried, “Okay. Just make sure to stay sane. Don’t give in too much.”
She was worried her son still had feelings for Cristelle.
Diego nodded, but he still felt bitter, “I know. Just take a rest. We can talk about this tomorrow.”
Pamela dashed into the bedroom when she heard Diego’s footfalls.
But Diego didn’t even come to their bedroom. He stayed in the guest room again.
Pamela thus hated Cristelle even more. When Diego left the next morning, Pamela followed.
Pamela knew she shouldn’t walk around in her current state, but she couldn’t help it. She shuddered at the idea that Diego and Cristelle had made up with each other again.
When the doorbell rang, Cristelle played puzzles with her babies. Cody dashed toward the door and stood on a little stool, peeping out of the hole before he turned around to look at Cristelle, “Mom, it’s an unfamiliar man. Should we let him in?”
Cristelle went to the door and peeped out of the hole. With one look, her face went pale, “Mommy doesn’t know this guy. Don’t let him in.”
“Oh… Okay. Should we call the police?” Cody asked.
Cristelle took a pause, “It’s okay, baby. You go play with Candace first.”
Cody soon realized something, “Mom, do you actually know this guy?”
Cristelle didn’t say anything, admitting it silently.
Cody blinked, “Do you want me to call the security guards then? This is harassing if he’s an unwanted guest.”
“Good idea,” Cristelle dialed the number and summoned the guards. Soon, that man just disappeared.
Cristelle let out a breath and kept playing with the babies. But the doorbell started to ring again.
Cristelle thought a pause, deciding to see him at least once. She wondered why he came here.
Diego looked apologetic when Cristelle opened the door, bringing many gifts with him, “Cristelle, can we talk?”
“Come in,” Cristelle said coldly.
Diego got in the house. He looked around, finding the small apartment to be warm and cozy.
Cody tipped his chip up as he regarded the man in the grey suit. The boy was a bit uncomfortable. He didn’t think this man was a good man, “Mom, who is he?” The boy sounded alert.
Cristelle said, “He was someone I know. You go play with Candace in the bedroom. Lunch will be ready soon. I need to talk to this person.”
She didn’t want to get the babies involved again.
“Fine. Just call me if you need me, okay?” Cody seemed worried.
“Okay,” Cristelle smiled at her boy. Cody thus took his little sister into the bedroom,
Diego looked at the babies as they walked away. They both looked cute. Deep down, he was a bit jealous, but he managed to pull out a rueful smile in the end.
“Cristelle, how is it going lately?” Diego asked gently.
Cristelle pulled a face, “You and your family finally have mercy, so I’ve been living a peaceful life. Why are you here? I’m not up for chitchat. Stop beating around the bush.”
Diego put the gifts down, “I want to know what’s your relationship with Linford. I need to remind you, Cristelle. That guy is not a normal man. His family holds high expectations of him. He won’t be with an ordinary woman.”
Was he here to warn her? Did he think she was a social climber?
“It’s really none of your business, is it? If that is all you want to tell me, you can go. I really have nothing to say to you,” Cristelle frowned, feeling disgusted. He had the audacity to show up here!
