Candace didn’t know what was happening. But she also started to cry as she saw her mommy was being sad.
Linford’s heart was wrenched by the scene, draping one arm around Cristelle’s shoulders, “It’s okay. Cody will be safe.”
Cristelle covered her mouth with one hand, preventing herself from making any sound.
“Mr. Bradley, we can’t give much detail about the case. It won’t do any good to our investigation. You guys should find a place to get some rest. The team has to act now.” The police officer said apologetically.
They couldn’t delay the action. The longer they waited, the more dangerous it became for the boy.
They didn’t have any time to lose.
“Cristelle, just go back and have some rest. You need to trust me,” Linford spoke softly, but his tone was firm. No one could ever doubt the words coming out of his mouth.
Cristelle nodded, holding Candace tightly in her arms.
Alfred booked three rooms at the hotel near the police station. Cristelle didn’t refuse his invitation this time and checked into one of the rooms.
Candace was fast asleep as Cristelle carried her into the room.
“We’ve got some clean clothes for you to change into. And here are some snacks for your daughter. Cristelle, don’t get too worried. Your son will be fine,” Alfred reassured her.
“Thank you,” Cristelle looked pale, but she still managed to pull out a smile.
“It’s okay. It’s not easy to be a single mom. You must be exhausted now. Just get some sleep. I’ll tell you once we get any news,” Alfred comforted her.
Cristelle nodded, “Please do inform me no matter what the news is.”
Alfred said yes as he left the room.
When Alfred walked into Linford’s room, he was standing by the French window, taking in the prime view of the city.
“What did she say?” He asked immediately when he saw Alfred.
Alfred thus repeated the conversation, “I just hope the boy will be fine. She looked devastated.”
Linford felt complicated, but he hid his emotion well, “Find out who owns that building. The building where Cristelle’s son got lost.”
Alfred looked confused, “Is there something wrong with that building?” Linford wasn’t keen to explain anything,
“Just go investigate it.”
Alfred stood straighter, “Yes, sir.”

Meanwhile, at the city harbor, Cody finally woke up. But he only found out that he had been tied up. He soon realized that he had been kidnapped.
He had tried so hard to fool Ingrid around in that building. He had tried to run, but he had drunk too much coke. He had gone to the bathroom to piss, but someone had just taken him away from the bathroom.
Cody could hear the sound of wind and water. The salty taste in the air makes him realize he is locked somewhere by the sea.
Mom’s uncle was living by the sea. Cody knew that a long time ago.
“Did you get the money?” A man’s voice rasped.
Cody listened carefully, trying to figure out what was happening right now.
“I’ve brought the boy out of the city. This is murder. You must add 10 million, or I’ll quit!”
Someone wanted to kill him?
Cody frowned. His Mom just brought him and his sister to this city. She had never offended anyone. Who would want to kill him?
That person must come after his Mom. Who was this person?
Thinking of his Mom and Candace, Cody knew he couldn’t die. He still needed to stay alive to protect his Mom and Candace. They needed him.
“If I get the money, I promise you will see this boy’s body floating on the sea the next morning.”
The man hung up the phone as he grabbed the sack as if he was gonna throw the boy into the sea.
Cody struggled, kicking at him in the sack.
“Stay still!” The man bellowed. He was waiting for the money right now. He would instantly throw this boy into the ocean when he got the message from his bank account.
Cody was still struggling.
“Damn you!” The man was so pissed when he found out the boy had just peed on him. He opened the sack, ready to teach the boy a lesson.
Cody was finally released from the sack. The man tore off the little bag on his head and pulled out a knife, pressing against the boy’s little neck, “See this, brat? I’ll cut you if you move again!”
Cody only stared at the man. He was wearing a black beanie and a black mask. There was a deep scar above his right eye.
The boy didn’t seem scared at all, making the kidnapper interested, “You do have some balls, kiddo.”
Cody only glared, humming against the tape on his mouth.
The kidnapper tore the tape off, laughing coldly, “You’re gonna be thrown into the ocean any moment now. What do you want to say?”
“My dad is the most powerful man in the city!” Cody shouted as soon as the tape was torn open.
“Hahaha! The most powerful man? Who is he then?” The kidnapper only took what he said as a joke.
Cody laughed coldly. “Didn’t my face remind you of anyone?”
“Who?” The kidnapper huffed, but he started to study Cody’s features as he heard what the boy had just mentioned.
He felt his heart was just caught in his throat as he paid attention.
Why did this boy look so much like that person?
Could he be…
“Are you a Bradley?” Bradley was the most powerful family in this country.
Cody only kept his silence, not agreeing or objecting.
“Answer me! I’m asking you!” The kidnapper went a bit panicked. If this boy were a Bradley, he would never get away with what he’d done. Those people would hunt him to the end of the world. Whoever dared to touch a Bradley had been eliminated. No one dared to offend Bradley. All the rich families in the city knew the rule.
Thinking of that, the kidnapper started to sweat.
“Marco! You’ve been surrounded! Release the boy right now!” The police shouted on their boat as they enclosed the kidnapper.
The kidnapper was hesitant. When he looked up again, his boat had been surrounded.
Marco wanted to use the boy as a hostage, but Cody reacted faster than him. He jumped off the boat as soon as he heard the police. The seawater was cold and salty. Cody didn’t even know how to swim, but he still jumped off anyway.
“Hurry! Save the boy!”
