Chapter 20: She Must Be Truly Dumb

Linford only stepped off his car right now. He was wearing a long grey coat. No one would look in Diego’s direction when he stood there.
“It doesn’t matter. I’m here so my employees can have fun. I’m okay as long as they enjoy the day,” Linford said as if he didn’t even care.
After hearing what he said, Diego got his meaning right away. This Mr. Bradley was not someone who was easy to deal with. He asked him out for business. But Linford clearly didn’t have any intention of the cooperation.
“Cool. My employees also need to take a rest. Let them have fun then,” Diego found an excuse to make himself less awkward soon.
Cristelle just stood in the distance, staring as the conversation continued. She walked to walk away the minute she saw Diego, her nails sinking into her flesh.
“Cristelle? What’s wrong?” Fritzi asked, waving her hand before Cristelle’s eyes.
Cristelle only started to realize now, “I’m fine.”
The sound they made attracted other people’s attention. When Pamela saw Cristelle, she felt her body burning with jealousy. Giving her husband a quick look, she discovered Diego was staring at Cristelle without blinking. She was so pissed off.
Linford also noticed their eye contact, letting out a cold huff. If she still felt something for this man, she must be truly dumb.
“Mr. Bradley, do you want to play on the field?” Fritzi arched an eyebrow. She suddenly realized this man had another purpose by summoning her here today.
“I’m not in the mood. You guys have fun,” Linford answered dismissively.
“Cristelle also refused to play. This is going to be so boring,” Fritzi sighed.
Pamela suddenly thought, “Should we make this a competition, though? The loser will pay for the dinner.”
Diego agreed instantly, “That’s right. Why don’t we make this a competition? That will be so much fun, Mr. Bradley, I heard you’re pretty good at skiing. Why don’t you show us some skills?”
No matter who was the winner. They would become friends in the end. Linford knew he would look petty if he turned down Diego again. So he nodded, “What’s the rule?”
Pamela smiled brightly, “You will compete, Diego, Mr. Bradley. And the employees will compete with each other. The winner will be the first person who crosses the line.”
“That will be too much trouble. Let’s just compete with each other. Whoever crosses the line first will be the winner.”
Everyone agreed before they went back to change their clothes. Cristelle thought this competition was boring. She had no intention of being a part of this. But Alfred was sent to her by Linford, giving her a red ski coat, “Mr. Bradley said everyone needed to be on the field later. This is for you. Try this on.”
Cristelle forced out a smile, “I’m not quite good at skiing, actually.” But she still took the coat.
They prepared and got out of their cars. Linford looked extremely neat and handsome in his gear. Fritzi had seen enough models, but she still couldn’t help but exclaim, “Sheesh… Couldn’t you be my model just for one day, Mr. Bradley? I will even…”
“Don’t even think about it,” Linford turned her down before she could finish the sentence.
Fritzi rolled her eyes behind his back.
Cristelle’s new coat also suited her, making her look even more pretty under the sunlight. Diego was a bit lost as he stared at the beautiful woman.
Pamela approached Cristelle, standing by her side deliberately. Other people might not see the odds. Cristelle was the only one who heard her challenging voice, “You’re quite calculating, aren’t you? How did you hook up with Bradley?”
Cristelle let out a cold laugh, “How did you become a third wheel again?”
“It was because you’re too useless,” Pamela huffed, smugly smiling, “You’re his childhood friend. So what? He was only using you. He still chose me as his wife.”
Cristelle still felt hurt when Pamela brought up the old memories. So she sneered, “I don’t even care. That man is trash, anyway. You can take him back and treat him like your King. You two deserve each other, after all.”
“You bitch!” Pamela’s face went red. She didn’t expect Cristelle to change so much after these years. She used to be a puppet. But now, she just became less easy to mess with.
Cristelle didn’t care what Pamela thought about her. Now, she only wanted to raise her babies and keep them away from these trashy people.
“Do you wanna race me?” Pamela caught her up.
Cristelle looked away, “What for?”
Pamela sneered, “If I win, you need to disappear from the city and quit being a designer.”
Cristelle didn’t even want to waste her breath with this woman.
Pamela followed her up, “What? You’re scared?”
Cristelle couldn’t bear with her anymore, “Who do you think you are? Why should I even need to listen to what you said?”
Alfred shot the signal gun. Cristelle dashed out in a blurring red line.
Except for Alfred and another employee from Diego’s company, almost everyone was on the field. The two bosses were dashing on the front line, their employees struggling to follow up. Fritzi was ahead among the employees. However, Cristelle was on the group’s tail, taking her time.
She didn’t even care about winning or losing. Diego was the one who taught her how to ski. Thinking of that, she was in a worse mood even. Besides, she hurt her waist while giving birth to her babies. Violent sports like this would harm her. So she only moved with care.
Pamela was determined to make herself a clown before everyone. When Cristelle was not paying attention, Pamela dashed forward and pushed her. Looking back at Cristelle, the smile on Pamela’s face was evil.
Cristelle didn’t expect Pamela to be this vicious under everyone’s watch. She couldn’t even stand straight, lurching forward. She thought she would fall hard as a yelp escaped her mouth.
Except for other employees, there were still other skiers on the field. Cristelle realized that the one before her was a stranger. Both of them would be seriously injured if she ran into that person.
Before reaching that guy, however, a pair of strong hands suddenly held onto her waist.
