Linford’s eyes went soft when he thought about that woman. She was gentle and sweet. Boring parties like this probably didn’t suit her taste. He knew he needed to stop thinking about that woman now. So, Linford took a sip from his glass and changed the topic, “You finally found someone you really want? That’s rare, huh.”
“Yep,” Fritzi shrugged, “You know how picky I am. What can I say? That woman just got the game. Oh, by the way, Elle just told me that Cristelle used to be learning in Paris before. Did you know that already?”
Linford nodded.
“You investigated her?” Fritzi arched an eyebrow.
“Any problem with that?” Linford asked, furrowing his eyebrows.
“Absolutely no problem, boss,” Fritzi smiled, “It’s just rare for us to see you get so interested in someone.”
Linford knew what she was pouting at, but he didn’t want to explain it. A famous actress walked by. She pretended to slip and lurched, pouring her glass of wine on Linford’s suit.
“Ohmigod!!! Mr. Bradley… I’m so sorry…” The actress bowed a bit as she whined, showing her cleavage intentionally.
She reeked of heavy perfume. The scent made Linford frown. He didn’t like a woman obviously making a dirty move. She surely had a beautiful body and a pretty face, but he just wasn’t interested in this type. Her clumsy flirtation annoyed Linford deeply.
“Kick her out of this place,” Linford looked quite impatient, “I don’t care what kind of products she’s endorsing for our company. I don’t want to see her face ever again.”
The actress went pale, pleading with tearful eyes, “Please?!!! Please?!!! Mr. Bradley…. I didn’t mean to do that. Please forgive me!”
Linford didn’t even spare her a look as his bodyguards dragged her out of the hall.
Fritzi’s mouth fell open. She took a sip from her wine and changed the topic, “How are you gonna deal with Izzy this time?”
“Izzy, who?” Linford asked, “Oh, you mean that lair? I don’t care. I left her to Alfred. He will stick to the legal procedure.”
Izzy would lose all her opportunities in this business forever by copying and sabotaging colleagues.
And Linford didn’t even know why she tried so hard to move to the 20th floor.
After the party, Linford sent Alfred to Cristelle’s place. Alfred brought Cristelle’s prize as well. Right now, Cristelle has been officially assigned to Fritzi’s team. She would work under Linford’s watch from now on.
Cristelle was pretty surprised when she saw Alfred standing outside her door.
Alfred smiled, “Miss Friesley, congratulations on winning the competition. Now, you’re one of the major talents that the company intends to nurture for future development. Your prize money is in your bank account now. The company will also give some compensation for the accident. Mr. Bradley just assigned you a new house in this neighborhood. It’s not far from this apartment. I’m here to send you the key. You can take a look right now if you want.”
A house? Cristelle’s mouth fell open. She couldn’t believe what she had just heard. Did Linford Bradley just give her a house? This area was not cheap. A house here would at least cost millions. She knew millions wouldn’t be considered as big money for Linford Bradley.
But still…
“Cristelle, I can tell you’re probably feeling so much pressure right now. I know it must be quite difficult for you when you are on stage. You deserve this compensation. Please take this house. Our company values our workers. That’s why everyone wants to get in. Just take the key. You deserve a proper apology.”
Cristelle knew what Alfred was trying to say. This competition remained a stain on the company’s history. It was not weird that they wanted to compensate her.
“Thank you so much, Alfred. I will work harder to repay the kindness of Mr. Bradley,” Cristelle had so many questions, but she knew it was only appropriate to say thanks right now.
She would work harder for her babies. Having a better place to live was definitely good for the twins. She would never decline this huge compensation for her children’s sake.
Alfred nodded and left.
The babies woke up after the assistant walked away.
Cristelle went to help Candace to get dressed, telling the babies about her compensation. She was overjoyed, “The weather is pretty good outside. I think we should go out and take a look at our new house. What do you guys think?”
Cody frowned. Getting a new house was good, but the boy couldn’t help feeling something was quite off. That boss of his Mom was so weird. He didn’t trust him. He felt that man was planning something against them.
“We’ve got a new house now. Isn’t this wonderful?” Cristelle carried Candace in her arms as she stood up, “I’m gonna buy you guys so many toys since you both have your own room after we moved in!”
Mom looked so happy. As doubtful as Cody was, he decided to shut up for his mother and sister.
Candace was so excited as she saw their new house. She couldn’t stop running around from one room to another.
Cristelle was amazed by how delicately the house had been decorated. They’d even prepared a lot of toys for her babies. Even Cody left his doubt behind when he saw his new toy train. Cristelle checked out her brand-new kitchen and balcony. She couldn’t stop smiling. Cristelle had never felt so content in a long while.
“Honey, go play with your sister. Mommy’s gonna cook,” Cristelle still limped a bit when she walked, but standing there for a while was not a problem.
Cristelle’s eyes widened when she opened the door of her new refrigerator. The space was stuffed with all sorts of food and ingredients.
Cristelle stood there for a while and grabbed some fresh seafood. Her children loved seafood, but she couldn’t always afford it. She couldn’t believe how considerate those people were.
Cristelle went back to the counter and started to cook lobsters and crabs.
Cody ran over, asking curiously, “Mommy, is your boss nice to you?”
