Linford had known her situation. But he still felt a bit weird as she brought up her babies. It made him uncomfortable to know that Cristelle was already someone’s mother.
“Well, you can go home if you insist. But it would be best if you also were very careful with your wounds. It would help if you took care of yourself when you go back,” The doctor had no choice but to say yes since Cristelle insisted on leaving.
Cristelle smiled apologetically, “Thank you, Doctor.”
After the doctor left, Cristelle reclined on her bed. Linford, however, stood by the window. He was extremely tall. And his body looked like a Greek God’s even under that suit.
Cristelle didn’t know what to say. The atmosphere suddenly got a bit awkward.
“Thank you…”
“I can…”
They opened their mouths simultaneously. And then, they fell silent at the same time. Cristelle went blushed.
“I can give you a ride later,” Linford cleared his throat.
“That’s so nice of you, Mr. Bradley,” Cristelle smiled politely.
“You’re welcome. You won the first prize in the competition. The prize will be sent to you very soon. I’m giving you a break to take a rest at home. Don’t overthink, and take care of yourself. You don’t need to come back to the company unless you feel you can freely walk around,” Linford said calmly.
“That’s so nice of you, Mr. Bradley,” Cristelle blushed even more evidently. With that huge amount of money, she could get a new apartment for her babies and could pay Candace’s treatment bills.
“Don’t thank me. You earned it,” Linford cleared his throat and looked out of the window.
It was snowing outside. Linford used a wheelchair to push Cristelle out of the hospital. When he finally got her in his car again, Linford asked for her address.
However, after driving Cristelle to her apartment, Linford fell silent. He couldn’t believe how bad Cristelle’s living condition was.
Cristelle noticed that look on Linford’s face. So she smiled awkwardly, “Thanks for sending me back, Mr. Bradley. You must be quite busy right now. Please go back.”
Linford was a bit pissed off. Most women would have begged him to go upstairs and have a cup of coffee, but this woman always tried to keep her distance from him as if he would eat her alive.
But Linford was a gentleman. He didn’t say anything as he nodded and went back to his car.
Cristelle maneuvered the wheelchair and went to her apartment. Now that she was sitting in a wheelchair, opening the door with her key suddenly became challenging.
However, before her hand could reach the keyhole, the door suddenly clicked from the inside and was pushed open. Cody was standing behind the door, pulling his chubby face, “Mom, who’s that man you just came back with? And what happened to your leg?”
Cristelle smiled weakly, “It’s actually a long story, sweetie.”
Candace was hiding behind her brother’s back. She instantly ran over to check on Cristelle as she noticed that she was sitting in a wheelchair.
Cristelle pulled her girl in and left a kiss on her cheek, “Don’t worry, sweetie. Mommy’s fine.”
Cody shook his head like a little man, “When can you learn to protect yourself? Cristelle Friesley?”
Cristelle laughed as she pulled Cody in as well. “Cristelle might be clumsy at protecting herself. But Cristelle just won a big prize today. Aren’t you proud of your mom?”
“I am!” Cody smiled brightly, “I’m so proud of you, and you’re always the best, Mom!”
Cody would only act like a normal five-year-old at the moment like this. Cristelle knew kids of this age should be sent to kindergartens. But Candace couldn’t go to kindergarten because of her condition. Cody thus decided to stay at home with his little sister.
Luckily, Cody was extremely smart. And he could basically teach himself everything, and Cristelle wasn’t that worried about his education.
Cristelle left kisses on her babies’ fluffy heads, “You guys are being good kids today. Mommy will cook your favorite dishes tonight. Let’s celebrate.”
Cody nodded before looking up again, his tone serious, “Mom, you haven’t told me who was that man sending you back.”
Cristelle sighed. Cody could be quite alert sometimes. It was probably because he and his sister grew up without their father. He always felt insecure when strange men showed up at Cristelle’s side.
Cristelle explained, “That man is Mommy’s boss, and he gives me money. We can never offend him, no matter what. Do you understand?”
I see. Was that man actually Mommy’s boss? Cody couldn’t believe what he had just heard.
It took his Mommy so much effort to finally get the job. If that man really was her boss, Cody knew he needed to be very polite.
“But that man doesn’t seem like a good person. You need to stay away from him as much as possible,” Cody tried to persuade his mom.
Cristelle laughed. She didn’t know why but the boy seemed weirdly hostile toward Linford Bradley. She didn’t know how that grudge rose in his heart, but her babies were the most important gifts she had in her life. Cristelle thus decided to listen to Cody’s opinions.

The company held a huge party that night. All the famous figures in the city were present.
The hall was splendid, and people were laughing and talking in their fancy dresses and suits. None of them seemed to remember the drama that happened earlier that day.
Fritzi was flocked by her employees and assistants. But she didn’t seem to be in the mood to talk to any of them. She looked across the hall and saw Linford standing alone by the floor-to-ceiling window. Whirling the glass in her hand, she sashayed toward her boss, “Why are you looking so defeated tonight, boss?”
Linford shot her a stern look, “Those people want to talk to you. Why are you here to bother me?”
Fritzi wanted to roll her eyes but managed to contain herself, “How is Cristelle?”
The look on Linford’s face softened at the mention of Cristelle’s name, “She’s fine. She only needs to take a couple of days’ break.”
“Good. I’ve got my eyes on her. She needs to work on my team after recovering, “Fritzi took a sip from her glass, “I’ve never seen any newbies possess such talents before. She should’ve been the center of attention tonight if she didn’t get hurt. What a pity.”
