– Hannah Mae’s POV –
I could feel glances from everyone in the room while we are doing our group activity. Everyone might seem to be busy with the activity but I could vaguely hear gossips about me and King. Like hello? It’s none of their business. Why are they butting their noses?
“De Vera, are you done with the task 5?” One of my group mates asked me. They probably notice that I am completely far away from this world.
“Uh… Yeah…” I answered out of senses. I immediately opened my book and look for a piece of ¼ sheet of paper where I wrote my answer.
I hand it over to our team leader, Clarisse, and she takes it from me. I catch King looking at me from the corner of my eye. I immediately turn to him and meet his gaze but by the moment I lay eyes at him, he is already looking away.
Everything feels awkward after he woke up from a few minutes of maybe shock after I kissed him. We all sat in a circular form and he sat across me. He was poking his pen in his paper while looking away. I wanted to sit next to him but he chose to sit next to Clarisse, which is across me.
Finally, the bell rang to end our class in Science without our teacher. She only left as an activity to do. My classmates stand and arrange their chairs. Clarisse stands to collect all our papers and she goes to the other groups to collect their papers. The moment Clarisse left, I take my Science textbook as I stand and go to sit next to King. I know that he notices my presence considering that his eyes lightly moved to me. I put my book on my lap and lean closer to him.
“Hey…” My voice was low and it was almost a whisper, “Talk to me, please. I feel uncomfortable when you’re not talking to me.”
He smirk but his lips are obviously trembling, “I-I can’t… I-I can’t even look at you.”
I press my lips as I glance down and peered at his eyes, “Calm down, okay. Everything will be alright.”
He turned to look at me and I froze when our noses touch. He is so close to me that I could feel his breath. I palms started to sweat and I could hear my heart pounding. My lips parted as I stared at his serious face.
“I hope it would be that easy.” His voice was deep and his face stayed serious when he said it.
We stayed that close for a few minutes. It feels like only me and him are in there and no one else. I can’t get my eyes off him. It feels so magical and I wanted to go closer to him and rest at his arms.
“Arrange your chairs and go back to your proper sits.”
I moved back when I heard a voice. I was pretty sure it was Mr. Rosales. I wanted to stay like that but we still have classes.
I grab my book on my lap as I stood. Before I could walk back to my chair, he grabs my arm and in that instant I froze. His warm hand went down to my nerves that made my heart race. I peek him from the corner of my eyes and saw him stands as he moves closer to me. So close that I could feel his breath on my neck and cheeks. It sends sparks to me which I enjoy that feeling.
“I’ll sit next to you.” He whispered. His voice was thick and manly. It brings butterflies in my stomach and I wanted to shout how much I like that voice of him.
My body froze but I was widely grinning. He takes the book from my hand and softly push my back to walk.
I take slow steps towards my chair and I could feel him behind me. I covered my mouth with my hand as I sat. He also sat next to me.
His deep voice continued to echoed in my head. I wanted to shake it away from my mind but I love the feeling of how it makes me smile. Without my realization, I chuckled and I catch a glimpse of him that he turned to look at me.
“What’s funny?” He asked, surpassing his smile.
I put down my hand as I snap my lips, “I just feel like smiling.”
He softly chuckled, “I like that.”
His voice and his smile is something that I can’t resist from staring and smiling. It has an effect in me and I love that feeling.
“Are you ready for your performance for tomorrow in PE?” I heard Mr. Rosales announced in the middle of the noisy class. My classmate are chatting and talking to each other, even though they are already on their sits.
I distract myself from this overwhelming feeling through focusing my attention to our teacher. But I can still see a glimpse of him staring at me.
His expression seems to change. He still has his captivating smile, but it looks more like a sad one. His eyes starting to get wet and he blink to surpass the tears from forming.
I didn’t hold back to turn at him. My curiosity is killing me. I stared at him and examine his expression. Later, he looks away as he rubs his hand against his face.
“Are you… alright, King?” I was hesitant to ask him. But it feels like my heart is being shattered when I see him like that. That I don’t know why he acts like that.
“Don’t mind it.” He replied and he sounded like he was uncomfortable.
I glance at his hand that was resting on his lap and I secretly reach for it. I gently inserted my fingers between his fingers and pressed my palm against his. His head turned and look at our hands.
He didn’t hold back my hand. Instead, he grab my book as he stood and walked back to his proper sit.
I was left stunned while staring on the sit where he sat. What’s with him all of a sudden? Did I made something wrong towards him? Or is it about the kiss? I don’t get it. My thoughts are turning upside down and its making me crazy.
– Daniel King’s POV –
Guilty conscience is slowly killing me. I don’t know if it’s true or not but considering that it is a fact is sending me to hell alive. I breath out as I close my eyes. Why it had to be her? Of all girls in the world?
I felt someone shakes my shoulder. It makes my eyes open. I swivel my head and find my seatmate Martinez looking at me, with his hand on my shoulder.
“Man, do you want to be in detention?” He mocked with a smirk, “Sir is trying to talk to you.”
“Oh,” I instantly push away the thought that bothers me and pulled myself together as I look to Sir Rosales, “I’m sorry sir for not paying attention.” I paused as I clear my throat, “What was it again, sir?”
Sir Rosales smirked, “Where have you been, Carnillo?”
My mind suddenly freeze for a moment. I was hesitating if it’s a serious question or sir is just mocking me. Will I give him a proper answer?
“At the moment where I asked her a question that she would probably say yes?” The last word sounded like a question. I didn’t think about those words. It just came out without my call.
Sir chuckled and the whole class joined him. Can’t this day get any worst? It seems like I’m the one who is making myself embarrassed.
“Who is ‘she’?” Sir asked the whole class with a wide grin.
Oh no. I’m in trouble.
“It’s De Vera, sir.” I heard Alvarez’s voice.
All heads turned to her and even sir looked at her. I can’t resist myself and I turned to look at her. She was covering her face with her hands and was hiding behind Vanessa. While Vanessa and Clarisse are giggling.
“Enough.” Sir tried to stop their laughter while he is also surpassing a laugh.
Everyone was calming themselves but they were still grinning. Some are still looking at her. Before Hannah could caught me looking at her, I turned my head back to the front with eyes at the ground.
Sir cleared his throat, “Carnillo and De Vera, your relationship is none of my business but I am concern with your grades.” He paused as he glanced at me and perhaps, at her, “I hope…” He paused again and look at me, “Carnillo, maintain your good grades and De Vera…” He paused again and look at her, “treat Carnillo as your inspiration to improve your grades.” Sir glanced at us with a genuine smile.
I turned my head halfway to her, enough to see her covering her mouth with her hand and her cheeks flushed. And without my control, I grinned from ear to ear as I looked back at the front.
“Class listen.” Sir approached everyone who was so busy chatting, “Since tomorrow will be your performance, I’ll let you use my time to have your final practice.” Sir paused as he glanced at the entire class who stood right after he paused, while waiting for him to give a signal, “You can go to your groups now.”
Everyone sprinted to their groupmates and my groupmates also started to gather at my sit. Good thing that Hannah and I are not groupmates or I won’t be able to get my mind work.
