Chapter 35 Missing Her

MATEO’S P. O. V.
I spent the entire day combing through prisoners. We released them all back to their packs. Strict rules were placed on them ever entering our lands again, just in case. There were a few that were released from the raid a couple of years ago, only to find that their packs were gone. I asked if they would like to stay, but they refused and decided to find another pack to be a part of. Not that I really blame them after I imprisoned them. The rest of the prisoners were going to be turned over to the council. Lila would be proud. She is going to be proud when I show her.
Ash now has me out getting her a gift and buying clothes for Callum and I for this party. I decided for the gift that I would get her a leather bound journal. I found one with an inscription that said, “Mine for now and for Always.” I figured that suited us. Ash keeps saying he has a good feeling about the party. Here’s hoping.
“I think you would look good in navy blue.” Ash says as he looks over a suit that I hate.
“Maybe for Callum. I prefer black and you know it.” I eye the suit with distaste. Others may like a little color, but I never have.
He sighs. “I hope I can find my mate soon. I really need someone else to handle this shit for you.”
“Well, if what you say is correct then Lila will be the one shopping for my clothes. It will no longer be your problem.” I point out. I pray to the goddess that he is right. I missed her so much last night.
“Not just me, but Callum too.” He sits on this seat they set by the measuring station. Hopefully they can tailor them by tomorrow. I do want to look good for her, even if I feel like shit.
“Callum thinks a lot of things.” I try to brush it off, but it has become obvious to me that he knows what he is talking about. Even if he doesn’t talk.
“And he is right. Just accept it. You will have your Luna in your arms tomorrow at any rate. You will get to dance with her.” He loves that he is winning this argument. I can tell by his smug tone.
“Alright, you made your point. I just have to win her over enough to get her home. Shouldn’t be too hard right. Except the fact that she left me in the first place.” I am bitter that she left. Not that I would ever hold it against her. I just need her back.
“She loves you. She just needed some time to get herself in order. I am sure when you show up at that party she is going to throw herself in your arms.” Ever the sure one. “Besides, if I lose I have to pay Marko ten bucks. I am not losing to Marko.”
“Marko bet against his Luna coming back.”
“No, his bet is that she will wait until the end of the party to come back to you. Make you sweat.” He winks at me, we both know she would do that.
“So, who is betting that their Luna won’t come back?”
“No one. They all saw her fight, they know she belongs in this pack.”
“We shall see how tomorrow goes then.” I have a small smile. That many people are expecting her to come back, just maybe she will.
