We finish our lunch in silence. After taking the dishes into the sink, Mateo assured me that someone will be there to clean them. I have no idea who, but he doesn’t want me to clean them. We head back to the main lounge and Ash is waiting for us. “I got everything on the list and a few things that I was sure you might need at some point. Or rather the sales lady assured me that you would need it at some point. Not really sure about half of this stuff, but I didn’t want to do that again.”
I approach him and put my hand on his shoulder. “Thank you Ash.” I hear a growl from behind us. I turn and see Mateo glaring. “What was that for?”
He turns and grumbles. “Nothing.”
I turn back to Ash, “Well, can I get help taking this up to my room.”
Ash turns to Mateo, “What room is hers?”
He glares at Ash. “You know very well what room she is in.”
Ash grins and folds his arms over his chest. “No, why don’t you spell it out.”
“Ash.” He growls.
Ash laughs. “Alright, I’ll take them upstairs.”
Callum helps collect the bags and takes them upstairs. I think he is excited that I am here. Mateo turns to me. “Well, I guess you better get up there and get out of my clothes. Then I can show you around the compound.” He takes my hand again. Why I have no clue, he just directed me upstairs. “You know Callum isn’t the only one that likes having you around. You are good company.”
I smile. “You should try me when I am an actual guest and not a prisoner.” I pull away from him and head upstairs to the room I woke up in.
MATEO’S P. O. V.
Ash came down before her, thank the goddess. I am nervous enough without having to worry about her being attracted to Ash. I know he’s a good looking guy, plenty of she-wolves have made it clear. I just don’t want Lila to feel that way. He smiles at me as he comes down the stairs. “I think Callum is in love. He dotes on her.”
I smile. “He thinks we are mates too. He drew us last night. Only he drew us a year ago.”
Ash gets a confused look. “So, he drew what happened last night, a year ago?” Confusion clearly littered his face.
“Yes, I think he might be a clairvoyant. He has done some other drawings that have done that too. But the fact that he drew us, makes me think that maybe what I am feeling isn’t so out there.” I’m still pacing.
Ash leans on the banister. “And what exactly are you feeling?”
I roll my eyes, like I want to discuss my feelings. “Enough to be pretty sure she is my mate. I just have to wait until she is eighteen, that is Wednesday. I wasn’t invited to her birthday party, so I have to resort to this.”
“What makes you think that she isn’t going to reject you?” He gets a serious face. My reputation makes this a possibility.
“That is why I am doing all that I can right now to show her that isn’t me. I don’t think I could handle it if she rejected me. She is fucking perfect Ash.”
“Alpha blood I’m assuming.”
“You heard of the situation with Black Forest Pack right?”
“You mean where the first born is the stepchild of the Alpha?”
“That’s her.”
He shrugs. “Still Alpha blood, her mother is the Alpha, not her father. You can’t hold what her father did against her.”
“I’m not. It’s just her mother rejected her father, what if she rejects me?” Shit my worry is showing.
He looks thoughtful, “Didn’t her father cheat on her mother, after they were marked?”
“Yeah, but you know what they say about me.”
Ash shrugs, “She doesn’t seem to hate you.”
I laugh, “You didn’t see her smack me this morning.”
“Ok, so maybe she hates you a little. But I think you are growing on her. I am sure her seeing you with Callum helps. She can see you actually give a shit about something. Let’s be honest you’re not the most approachable Alpha.”
I tick my eyebrows at that. He’s right. “Speaking of which, it is time to let Alyssa go.”
He laughs. “Did she hit on you again?”
I cringe, “Not really, she flirted a little, but Callum doesn’t like her. He kept running away from her all day. I can’t have a nanny that he is always hiding from. I can deal with the flirting. But Callum has to like the nanny.”
“He likes Lila.” Yeah, point that out will ya.
“Yeah, but Lila is not his nanny. Will you just fire Alyssa?”
He gets serious. “Yes, Alpha. Any other orders or can I go about my other duties?”
“We are taking a tour of the compound. I don’t think I will need any other assistance.” I return to my pacing. Is that girl ready yet?
Ash leaves me in peace, but it takes another ten minutes before she comes down. Callum is holding her hand. She looks like absolute perfection. Lila has on this long sun dress that I picked out for her. It’s a royal blue color which I thought would go great with her skin, I was right. She radiates beauty. Her light brown hair cascades down her back in these touchable waves. She smiles at me. “Thanks for the clothes Mateo.”
Callum seems super happy to be with her. I can’t blame him, I am too. “They suit you.” I put my hand out to take hers. “Are you ready to see the rest of the compound?”
“Let the tour begin.” She smiles and takes my hand. As I lead her out of the house, I feel like a million bucks.
