Aris
“Fate lord, are you sure?” Aris was sure her superior was having a major mental crisis. She doesn’t know how more she could think politely of it.
“Aris, this is necessary,”
“You want me to make sure that a mortal meets the Lord of the Underworld!”
Lord of the Underworld was a twisted sweet. He is calm, collected, and unfeeling cursed -a totally empty shell.
“I can’t have anyone else have this task. If someone else did it, Lord Azrael would kill them. You know him,”
“Ha!” Aris laughed, and then her expression turned wary as the Fate Lord gave her a look.
“You are serious?!”
“You are the only one who interfered in his work on multiple occasions and came out alive,” he put a scroll on the white desk.
“This is the scroll of Natasha Kriska in the western world of modern times on the earth 456th. She was supposed to be dead 15 hours ago,” an hour in the celestial realm is approximately a year in many mortal realms. 15 years is way overboard.
That is quite strange. Lord of Death never misses a soul.
“Why he didn’t take her?” She picks up the scroll.
“He is in love with her,”
“Impossible!” Aris looks down at the scroll. Oh damn, she has been visiting the underworld almost all her life. It is so rare for a god to fall for a mortal, but…
“I thought he could not feel anything,”
“This is the reason he had not realized it. I need you to go and handle it,”
“I still don’t understand what I could do?”
“She is a soul heading for absolution because of his feelings. He is putting her existence in danger. If the shadow king finds out, I don’t need to explain what happens,”
“You want me to make him confront this and make sure she comes to the realm of light for absolution,” something about this doesn’t feel right. She is a love guardian; her job is to ensure the people who love each other come together. Not sending them to the opposite sides of the cosmos.
Fate Lord’s almond eyes looked at everything around them before he came around the desk and took her to the corner. So no other guardian could listen to them.
“You know of the Curse in the Underworld,”
Aris nodded during the war two thousand years ago. Lord of the underworld made a sacrifice that rendered him off Nine emotions. That led to an enormous catastrophe. Souls were left unattended for years. To ensure that the Lord Of the Underworld does not mess with the delicate balance of life. Adhiraj Namah- the First Ruler of the Cosmos, put a curse on the Lord of the Underworld. If he ever refuses to reap a soul, the fire of the underworld will consume him.
“Adhiraj had summoned me,”
“What? He is in the realm of Light!” Aris whispered-yell. This is no good news. She has never seen the reverend deity that everyone respect and fear, but what she has heard so far say this, Adhiraj Namah never enter the realm of Light until there is great Calamity about to befall the cosmos.
“Shh!” Fate Lord shut her up and again looked around warily. This time even Aris looked around as if something was about to jump at them any second.
“Don’t tell anyone; no one knows about it except me, Imperial Prince Shrinivas, and The Emperor,”
“Why did you tell me then?” Aris squirmed, and her hand shook involuntarily.
“You have to do what you always do, make Azrael realize how close he is about to lose his love,”
Huh? What else there is could she do? Either Lord of the Underworld will kill her or Adhiraj; either way, she is doomed.
“Okay,” She squeaked.
And left Book Of Fate manor.
