Third Person’s POV;
“Alpha King Cole and I were childhood sweethearts” She revealed the truth finally.
“WHAT!” Rose and Mark shouted in utter shock.
“At first, we were childhood best friends, living and training in the same pack, but we didn’t know when we crossed the boundary of friendship and developed feelings for each other” Mary said awkwardly as she added,
“He was the crown prince at that time and I was the Beta’s daughter. He was going to be the next King and he wanted me to be his Queen. Everyone thought we were perfect for each other as our strength and compatibility matched as well. We were going to marry after the coronation ceremony which was in a couple of months” Mary continued and all of them listened quietly like they were listening to a fairy tale.
Only Mike was frustrated to hear his wife talking so dreamily about another man so he added,
“Can we please fast forward to the night of the attack? I don’t want to hear that crap!” He said obviously annoyed by the whole scenario.
“Oh come on, uncle! Don’t be such a party pooper! Tell us more, Aunt” Eva said engrossed deeply in the story.
“Yes, tell us more” Nova added to Mike’s frustration.
“Shut it, both of you” Oliver gritted his teeth and they shut their mouth instantly.
“On the night of the wedding ball of Princess Luna Crystal and Alpha Luke, the man who was sitting right next to Alpha King Cole today, we heard that some of our pack members were attacked by hunters” Mary spoke that statement and immediately glared at the hunter brother Levi, William and then her own husband.
Mike avoided her eyes still guilty about the incident.
“What happened after that?” Olivia asked in anticipation.
“What else? We let the groom and bride wait in the wedding hall while the rest of us, especially the warriors came to protect our pack members” Mary waited after her statement.
“So, you attacked the hunters?” Mark asked wanting to know the rest of the story.
“No dear, our priority was to protect our people and take them to safety first. Their lives were more precious to us. It was always our code that ‘we protect before we take our revenge’. So, as usual we were working accordingly” Mary said looking lovingly at her son who nodded in understanding.
“What happened then?” Oliver asked urging her to continue.
“After that, when I was trying to protect Samuel, one of my pack members, I was shot by your Uncle Pete” Mary said reminiscing of the intense pain she felt as the bullet pierced her thigh.
“What?” It was this time, when Theodore spoke for the first time in a while.
“I was furious, raging with anger. I was going to attack your Uncle Pete when Uncle Levi threw wolfsbane water at me and then tied me with silver chains. My body was burning in agony, I was trying to untie myself but your Uncle Levi kept on attacking me with shovel. That is when I was distracted trying to defend myself, Uncle Pete shot me again and I fell on the floor ready to meet my end” Mary said the pain and hopelessness that she felt that day was obvious in her voice.
“Just by two bullets? Elijah was quite strong to fight after four bullets then” Rose commented proud of her strong mate. She glared at Levi and William again for hurting him and her mother.
“Told you so. The wolfsbane was spreading through my system in the speed of light, I didn’t had any hope of survival on that day” Mary said in a painful voice.
“What the hell! You must be in so much pain, mum!” Rose said holding her hand and caressing it lovingly.
“How do you know?” Mark asked in confusion.
“Have we already forgotten about the part that I am the one who saved Elijah?” Rose asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Roger that” Mark said giving her a thumbs-up.
“What happened then?” Nova asked annoyed by the constant interruption.
“Yes, tell us what happened next!” Eva asked as well.
“OMG! This is better than fantasy novels!” Olivia said in excitement.
“I was lying on the floor, bleeding and screaming in pain. Peter tried to grab the axe and tried to behead me but then…” Mary was cut again but this time by an elder.
“Then what? Then what?” Aunt Milly asked in anticipation.
“Mike stopped him” Mary said looking at her husband who was going through the past as well.
Every pair of eyes moved towards Mike standing next to his wife. Mary looked into Mike’s eyes and a smile curved on her lips. Mike smiled back at his wife.
“Really dad? You came forward like a knight in shining armor?” Rose asked in excitement, glad that they got their happy ending with each other.
“I had to. That was pure but strange kindness. I had no idea about your mother back then. In my scenario, my brother was beheading a she-wolf. They almost killed her and she was writhing in pain but that wasn’t enough for them. She was already suffering a lot. I couldn’t see such cruelty by my own blood, so out of pity, I grabbed the silver chains from her body and threw it away” Mike said but he really didn’t want to remember the state his wife was in when he saved her life.
“What happened next?” Mark asked eagerly.
“For some reason, my heart was beating like a horse galloping in the free wide field. I was feeling the pain that she was in; my heart was aching! At that time, I had no idea why was it happening. I looked at her shining emerald green eyes and I was bewitched by them. I noticed that she was changing into her human form and it was one of the coldest nights of January. So, I removed my jacket to cover her naked body” Mike said reliving the entire moment again.
“Awww, that was so sweet!” Aunt Milly said filling giddiness in her stomach like she is the one who experienced it.
“I am dying with cuteness!” Rose added in approval.
“Just in case you thought that his brother will show any mercy now that I was in human form, this bas*ard Levi said, ‘Don’t show kindness to that b*tch, she doesn’t deserve it” She said looking straight at Levi who was still looking back shamelessly. Then she turned towards Theodore as she added,
“and Peter said, ‘Let her die naked like a beast. Let her suffer in pain!'” Mary added and Theodore unlike Levi looked down in shame for the act he didn’t even commit.
Rose heard an angry groan leaving Oliver’s mouth.
“Same Oliver, same” Mary added with a sigh.
“What about Uncle William?” Rose asked wanting to know about the third evil eye of the house.
“Oh, he was lying unconscious somewhere like always” Mary said and Mike, and Stella chuckled.
“Don’t ruin my moment, tell me more” Eva added impatiently.
“Well, when I moved down to cover her body, the side of my little finger barely touched the skin of her bare shoulder and I felt the wave of electricity passing down my entire body and she felt the same. That’s when I heard her say, ‘Mate’ in barely a whisper” Mike said, and the similar moment that Rose experienced ran through her mind.
“What? You and Mom are mates?” Rose asked as she covered her mouth in shock.
“Yup, he is my mate. It’s not every day that you reject a future Alpha King for a hunter. You know, I couldn’t believe I had a hunter as a mate! The most handsome hunter I had ever seen in my life” Mary said in a dreamy tone with hearts in her eyes.
Mike gently pecks on her lips and both of them smiled while the rest of the youngsters cringed.
“Can we please go ahead with the story?” Olivia was dying with excitement.
“Okay, so I was scared. It was the first time, something like that happened to me. I had touched various werewolves before but that was the very first moment I felt that kind of heavenly sensation. My heart was racing against my chest so fast that I felt like it would break my ribcage and come out of my chest” Mike said gleefully.
“I felt your heartbeat that time” Mary added and Mike smiled at her before looking up.
“I retracted my hand back and stood up in an instant and followed my brothers” Mike said breaking the magic spell.
“What?” Olivia asked in shock
“What the hell!” Eva asked angrily.
“How dare you!”
