Charlotte felt a bit nervous when she saw her call with Jaeden ended abruptly.
From Jaeden’s demeanor, it seemed like he wasn’t very inclined to cooperate, which was concerning, but she didn’t have many options.
It seemed like Bella had beaten her to the punch, but that was okay; she still had a chance.
Business negotiations weren’t solely based on timing; as long as the contract hadn’t been signed, there was still an opportunity.
After some thought, she formulated a more detailed plan. She decided to schedule another meeting with Jaeden in a couple of days to discuss her conditions and negotiate with him to see what he wanted.
As the end of the workday approached, Quentin once again personally came to pick up Charlotte. Charlotte waited by the roadside and saw the black Maybach slowly approaching.
She waved, and the car stopped in front of her. Charlotte skillfully opened the door and sat in the passenger seat, fastening her seatbelt.
“It seems like you’re a bit early today,” Quentin teased as he spoke.
“I took on a new client, so my working hours are relatively flexible lately. But, this client seems a bit difficult to deal with, and there’s also competition from within our company. It’s a headache!” Charlotte furrowed her brows slightly, not hiding anything from Quentin.
Quentin chuckled, “Well, competition is not necessarily a bad thing. It gives us motivation.”
“Oh, by the way, is that matter resolved today? I’ve had someone send the surveillance footage over,” Quentin asked.
At this mention, Charlotte suddenly remembered something. How did Quentin know the top management of Spicurity Group, and how did he arrange to have the surveillance footage sent to her?
“How did you manage that?” Charlotte looked puzzled.
Quentin chuckled, “How I did it isn’t important. What’s important… isn’t it your reward?”
With a teasing look in his eyes, he met Charlotte’s gaze. She blushed, “Stop imagining things! I never agreed to anything!”
“And, Quentin, I’ll tell you, I’m not a frivolous woman. Although we have children together, you know that Theo and Janessa were just unexpected pregnancies.”
“Now, I’m not your wife yet. We’re both unmarried, and if you want to marry me, you’ll have to show your sincerity.”
“Of course…” Charlotte raised her chin slightly, “It also depends on whether I’m willing!”
Before she could finish her sentence, she felt her chin being held. In that moment of surprise, a faint smell of tobacco and a strong masculine scent rushed into her nostrils…
Dominant, lingering…
After a kiss, Charlotte’s breathing became erratic and her cheeks flushed with a strong blush, her heartbeat accelerating several times over!
Quentin gazed at her affectionately, his tone firm, “I, Quentin, swear that I will give you a grand ceremony, make you the happiest bride in the world, and allow you to marry me without any regrets.”
“If I can’t fulfill that, if you’re not satisfied, then I’ll wait, wait until the day you’re willing!”
“Charlotte…” Quentin held her soft hand, “We don’t need to rush into anything. I know you may not be fully prepared mentally, and I won’t force you to do anything you’re not willing to do.”
Seeing Quentin’s deep and sincere gaze, the softest part of Charlotte’s heart seemed to be touched. For the first time, she felt how charming this man was when he spoke so seriously, giving her an inexplicable sense of security.
She felt her body heat up, a wave of heat spreading through her body from Quentin’s hand. She quickly withdrew her hand, her cheeks blushing, and stammered, “It’s too early for us to talk about this now.”
“It’s okay,” Quentin patted her shoulder reassuringly, “I have the patience for this.”
“No matter what, I’ll protect you and our children for a lifetime.”
