They walked in.
It was Charlotte and Quentin.
“Sorry for being late,” Charlotte said with a smile towards everyone.
Several women showed disdain, tinged with a hint of jealousy. They hadn’t expected Charlotte, after enduring years of life’s hardships, to still be so beautiful and elegant. This made them jealous, feeling like ugly ducklings in front of Charlotte…
This feeling was too stifling.
So, none of them showed Charlotte any kindness.
Their gazes fell on Quentin standing beside, whose appearance was indeed sunny, tall and upright, with cold and stern features, sharp brows and bright eyes.
He did have a good-looking face.
However, the clothes he wore were obviously cheap, in stark contrast to the luxury brand Parker Collins. They were completely different levels.
“Charlotte, you finally made it,” Anna said affectionately, pulling Charlotte to sit beside her.
Quentin also approached to sit down, but Anna’s face slightly darkened, “Did I ask you to sit down?”
“Do you understand manners?”
Quentin was stunned for a moment, then chuckled lightly, “What’s wrong? Can’t I sit here?”
Was this woman deliberately targeting him?
“Anna-” Charlotte shook her arm with a look of embarrassment, “Can you two not quarrel today? Can we all sit down and have a nice meal?”
Parker Collins smiled faintly, “We won’t argue with him, but, Mr. Holland, it seems we didn’t invite you here today, did we?”
“You’re uninvited, which makes the atmosphere a bit awkward here. How about this, you toast to everyone present, then you can sit down.”
“I only toast to three types of people in my life, and obviously, you’re not among them,” Quentin said indifferently, shaking his head.
This arrogant remark made everyone present frowned.
“Who do you think you are?” Hugo Slater asked coldly.
Rosie Brown, dressed provocatively, gave Quentin a disdainful look. She found this poor man very annoying, “Who are you? How dare you talk back to Mr. Collins like that? What do you think you are?”
“Charlotte, your taste isn’t that good, huh? How could you find such a poor man so quickly?”
Charlotte looked embarrassed. She didn’t expect these classmates to be so disrespectful. She glanced apologetically at Quentin, but found that he didn’t care about what they said at all.
Anna sneered, “Stop mocking others. This is Charlotte’s child’s father and also the former young master of the Holland family.”
“At least he used to be rich.”
Hearing the sarcasm in Anna’s words, everyone present laughed.
Hugo Slater snorted, “What’s the use of being rich in the past? Now the Holland family is bankrupt. They’re just like stray dogs, pretending to be something.”
Quentin couldn’t be bothered to argue with such a clown.
Parker Collins waved his hand, “Forget about it, let’s not mention this matter. Let’s drink.”
Hugo Slater smiled ingratiatingly, “Mr. Collins is right, we won’t bother with people who have no class. Not everyone has the grace of Mr. Collins.”
This flattery made Parker Collins even more complacent.
Parker Collins smiled faintly and poured himself a glass of wine, then turned to Charlotte, “Charlotte, I toast to you to apologize for our rudeness the other day.”
“We were out of line that day. I’m really sorry.”
He looked sincere.
Anna sat aside and said, “Charlotte, Parker Collins has sincerely apologized. You should let bygones be bygones.”
As she spoke, she poured a glass of wine for Charlotte and said, “Here.”
Charlotte looked embarrassed, “I, I can’t drink much, so I’ll pass.”
Upon hearing this, Anna looked displeased, “You’re ruining the mood.”
Quentin said lightly, “She can’t drink, I’ll drink for her.”
He picked up the glass directly.
Anna raised her eyebrows, full of anger, “Mr. Collins is toasting Charlotte, what business do you, a poor bastard, have to intervene? Don’t you understand the rules?”
“If it weren’t for Charlotte’s face, I would have kicked you out directly!”
Parker Collins looked gloomy, “I propose a toast to Charlotte. You’re in no place to drink for her! Fine, if you like to drink so much, then you drink this bottle!”
“Drink it!”
Seeing the full bottle of wine, Charlotte looked worried, “Quentin, forget it…”
Quentin’s expression remained unchanged as he picked up the bottle.
He drank it all in one gulp, without changing his expression.
“Is this your method?”
He shook his head, showing a hint of disdain, and placed the bottle back on the table.
