Perhaps no one would have expected that the highest-ranking figure in Stresall would be so respectful and humble towards Quentin.
“Well, I do have a favor to ask of you,” Quentin casually spoke.
“Mr. Holland, feel free to say it!” Zaid’s face turned serious.
Quentin narrowed his eyes, “You will participate in the Night City opening ceremony, right?”
“Yes, this project is being handled by the authorities,” Zaid replied. “On the day of the official ribbon-cutting, everyone in the Government House will be present.”
“My wife needs an admission pass.” Quentin straightforwardly made his request.
“Mr. Holland, I’ll do it perfectly. Even if you want a hundred, it won’t be difficult,” Zaid said. He wasn’t being a sycophant; he was stating a fact, considering Quentin’s status.
“One pass is enough. Also, no need to tell her I help her, understood?” Quentin said calmly. “Just deliver the invitation to her, and don’t mention anything that shouldn’t be said.”
“Understood!” Zaid nodded repeatedly.
Night fell. It was 10 p. m.
After putting the children to bed, Charlotte rubbed her eyes and wanted to wash up and go to sleep early.
At this moment, a series of knocks suddenly sounded on the door.
“Who is it?”
“Miss Pittman, I am a member of the Night City opening ceremony team,” a respectful voice came from outside the door.
A member of the Night City opening ceremony team?
What’s going on?
Charlotte hesitated for a moment but decided to open the door.
Standing outside was a man in a suit, smiling and bowing to her.
“Miss Pittman, hello.”
He was sent by the City Lord to give the invitation to Charlotte.
“Hello, hello!” Charlotte felt uneasy seeing the other person being so respectful.
“This is an invitation card for the Night City ribbon-cutting ceremony. Please accept it, Miss Pittman.”
“With this card, you can enter the Night City and attend the banquet.”
In an instant, a mixed feeling surged in Charlotte’s heart!
Invitation from Night City? What’s going on?
Suppressing her astonishment, she asked, “May I ask why I am being invited?”
She had no background, no connections and nothing special about her.
Why would she be personally invited to such a major official project?
Was her so lucky?
She could hardly believe that such a stroke of good fortune would fall into her lap.
“I’m sorry, Miss Pittman, but this is confidential,” the man in the suit replied. “I’m just following orders.”
The man smiled and continued, “But, Miss Pittman, since you have been invited, it means that you are extremely excellent. You don’t need to worry about anything else.”
“… Alright!”
Unable to figure it out, Charlotte didn’t bother dwelling on these thoughts. She accepted the invitation from the man and thanked him before turning back into her house.
“I can’t believe it! Night City actually invited me? Oh my goodness! It seems that after all the misfortune I’ve had, I finally have some luck!” She was overjoyed, immediately dialing Quentin’s number to share the surprising news with him.
“Really? Night City actually sent you an invitation? That’s fantastic.” Quentin deliberately feigned surprise and astonishment. “I told you that good things come to good people.”
“That’s right!” Charlotte was elated. “Well, I need to go to bed early tonight. I have to take our kids to school tomorrow. Goodnight!”
“Alright, I’ll pick you up tomorrow.”
Early the next morning, Charlotte woke up the two little kids, made them wash up and eat breakfast, and then sent them off to Sloburg Kindergarten.
“Daddy, mommy, is our new school nice?”
“Of course!” Quentin gently patted their heads with a tender smile.
“Um… Daddy, will the teachers in kindergarten still hit us?” Janessa raised her face, looking innocent and naive, blinking her dark eyes.
Quentin was taken aback.
Charlotte’s face stiffened, and she turned her gaze towards Quentin.
