Rachelle’s POV
I was just finished with my training with Theodore and I was having fun with some of the children at the pack when I remembered that I was supposed to have a consultation with Crew and Hazel. I looked at the two little children holding on to my hand, Charles and Charity, and then I figured that I would not have enough time to play with them anymore if I had to meet up with Hazel and Crew just in time. Luckily, I saw their mother, Maggie just ahead. She was waving at me, probably to get my attention, and I waved back before bending to Charles and Charity’s level.
“Hey guys. Do you see your mummy?” I whispered as I pointed at Maggie. The twins began to giggle and Charles pointed at his mother.
“Hi mummy!” He shouted in the cutest voice ever. “I want to play with mummy, Rachelle.” He said as he turned to me.
Charity giggled, clapping her hands. “Let us catch mummy!”
“Alright then.” I said, blowing the stray hairs that escaped my pony tail out of my face. “When I say ‘Go!’ you start running fast, but do not let go of my hand, okay?”
“Okay.” The twins answered in unison.
“Okay. Ready, steady, go!” I shouted and I started running lightly as the kids started to run.
They giggled loudly as we ran across the grass and when we got to their mother, Charity collapsed on the floor, closing her eyes and Charles ran to his mother with happiness all over his face.
“Sorry Maggie, but I have to go now. Very important matters to attend to, so you would have to excuse me.” I said with a grin and Maggie nodded.
“There is no problem. Good luck with what you are going to do.” She smiled and waved.
“Bye Rachelle!” The kids said and I rushed out of the fields and into Everett’s house.
He had his own separate building where his friends preferred to lounge in- or live in, as that was where I saw them every time. Pack members who wanted to were allowed to live in their own separate buildings too, like the Paz pack, only that here at the crescent pack, they were bounded by positive emotions.
I rushed into his house and ran into his office to say ‘Hi’ to him briefly.
“Hello, alpha Everett!” I ran to him and gave him a kiss on his cheek before turning around.
“Sorry, I have got to go!”
He grabbed my arm before I could move. “And where does my future Luna think she is going to?”
I laughed. “Don’t tell me that you have forgotten. Crew and Hazel had invited a priest over for a consultation. He should be here by now.”
Everett gave a small pout. “Wait, so do you mean that I cannot spend any more time with you? Is that what you are trying to tell me?” He said in a whiny voice.
“I would be back anyway, so it’s alright.” I said, laughing. “Don’t be so dramatic, my love. I am just a few rooms away.”
“Oh yeah, that is true.” Everett said, suddenly standing up.
“Uh, what?” I asked him. “Why are you standing up now?”
“To follow you, of course. Let us go.” He said and tried to walk out from his office.
“Everett,” I began in a warming tone. “I like how protective and caring you are, and although I wish that I could give you more opportunities to treat me like an egg, but I cannot do that now. Unfortunately for me, that is.” I stopped and gestured at his table.
“You have a lot of things to sort out. Remember that you are an alpha first. I will be back in no time, and I would tell you about everything that happened, okay?” I squished his cheeks. Then he frowned, but nodded nonetheless.
“Make sure you are safe. Take care of yourself.” He said.
“I am just a room away, it is alright.” I grinned at him and made my way out of his home office.
Then I made my way to Crew’s room, where the consultation was going to take place.
Hazel dragged me down as soon as I made my appearance inside Crew’s room known.
“Where have you been all this while?” She hissed. “We were waiting for you!” She said.
Crew sat down on a piece of furniture drinking some juice from a plastic bottle. He waved the bottle at me in greeting.
I smiled and waved back. Then I turned and noticed the old man sitting on the ground, already looking at me.
“Um, hi.” I muttered, unsure of what to say.
“Rachelle, this is the priest we had told you about.” Then she turned to the priest with an apologetic smile.
“This is Rachelle. Sorry that she was a bit late.” She shrugged.
“Ah, it is okay. You young ones can always be like that. Nice to meet you, Rachelle.” He said with a smile. “I have heard some interesting things about you.”
“Oh…” I said, still unsure of what to say. “Um, it is nice to meet you too, priest.”
“This priest here is a half were, half warlock.” Hazel whispered to me, the excitement evident in her voice.
“But he knows a lot of things about us and the rest of the ‘supernatural’, as the humans like to call us.” She said with a roll of her eyes.
“Hmm, supernatural.” I said, letting it sink in. “I like it. It makes us sound powerful. But does Everett know that you brought a-” I brought my voice down to a whisper.
“- A warlock here? I don’t think that he would be very pleased.” I said. Hazel giggled.
“His hearing is very sharp. I am sure that he had heard what you said.”
“They call you supernatural because to the other humans, your kind is out of the ordinary. A lot of people do not even believe in your existence and the existence of other creatures that are not humans or animals they know of.” The priest said and paused.
“Oh, and yes, Everett is aware that I am in his home, it is okay.” The old man smiled and I could only nod sheepishly out f pure embarrassment.
“Speaking of the things and kinds that are out of the ordinary, Rachelle, I hear that you have a white wolf. Is that the truth?” The priest asked.
“Yes, actually. And no, at the same time? I am sure that Crew and Hazel must have filled you in on everything already so-” He cut me in.
“Oh yes. Your friends have told me all they know about you, but I still need to hear from the horse’s mouth, yes?” He grinned widely.
“Well, okay.” I blew our air through my mouth. “Well, I was an Omega, and my wolf was a fairly sized black and brown wolf. It was a light brown, please.” I said with a shudder.
“And then after I had got here, not long after, I mean, Theodore- the Beta, had offered to train me. He had offered to do so in both my human form, and in my wolf form. Then he had asked me to shift, which I was expecting. What I definitely was not expecting was to hear a gasp, or to see all the werewolves who were present that day have their eyes locked on my wolf form, as if in some sort of trance.” I paused. Hazel and Crew began to laugh.
“You must have felt so awkward! I cannot believe that they had actually done that. Did you run away crying?” Crew asked, still laughing hard and I glared at him, making him muffle his laughter with his hand.
“Well priest, I am glad to tell you that I did not run away. I began to look at myself to know if anything wrong had happened, or if I had another head growing out of my side. That was when I was almost blinded by the color of my fur. It was so white. The kind of white that is white enough to make one go blind. And it was the cleanest coat I had ever seen, and I had seen Kylie’s wolf come out after a long soak.” I paused and the priest chuckled.
“Even my nails were all shiny. There was something that looked like glitter all over it, and I became afraid, wondering if the wolf was mine, and if it was not, I wanted to know who had it before me. And even after that, not too long after, my white fur disappeared, and I suddenly went back to being a regular black and brown- light brown wolf. It was a scary experience for me. I could not just believe what had happened and immediately, I launched head on into full panic mode.” I stopped and sat on the bed, clasping my hands.
“Well,” The man said, “I do not need an oracle to tell me what I am about to tell you, but I would like to tell you about the history of white wolves.
The white were wolves were the most powerful ones to ever exist and they had always been the most pleasant looking ones. The first werewolf was like a daughter, and at the same time, a friend to the moon goddess. Eventually, she got bored up there and decided to descend to earth to live a normal life like the humans did. She had wanted to multiply, and live a life here on earth and with the humans since they had always fascinated her. She had seen them fall in love, and get married to be blessed with children later. She wanted that for herself too.” The old man paused and looked around, as if to make sure that the rest of us were still paying attention to his words.
We nodded, urging him to continue what he was telling us. And so, he did.
“She bade the moon goddess goodbye, after agreeing that humans and wolves would never mate. After a few years of being alone, a human stumbled into her while she was shifting from wolf to human form, and as a result, the moon goddess made him the first male were wolf. And also, he became her mate too immediately. They lived together, away from humans and they multiplied. Some other white werewolves came from the first were wolf, but they were all long gone. And all white were wolves were usually the bearer of the alpha and/or Luna title. They were also kings and queens too, in the places where monarchy was accepted. Are you sure that you were actually an Omega, Rachelle?” The priest asked me.
I nodded vehemently. “Why, of course. I have always been an Omega. Although I do remember the former alpha of my former lack telling me that I had a special wolf and that I should not shift to my wolf form in front of people, because they might have tried to take my life, or use me for terrible purposes.” I sighed.
“I wish I could go to him to ask him what he had meant at that time, but he is dead now. Rumors had it that it was his son, alpha Edward who killed him and reigned as alpha in his stead.” I shook my head.
“That is indeed a disappointment. But still, with time, more things would be uncovered. As for you, Rachelle, you may be quite surprised, or even elated to know that there is a possibility, a major possibility that you have come from a lineage of great, powerful were wolves who were the actual rulers of the were kingdom.”
I blinked continuously at the man, oblivious to the rest of my surroundings. This was a lot of- too much information to take in.
“Excuse me, I need some time to think.” I said, drawing in a shaky breath before standing to to quickly exit Crew’s room.
