Rachelle’s pov
The all lovey-dovey period ended and now it was time for another business much to my dismay. One would think after that super lovely and romantic moment I had with Everett this morning, we’d be on a cruise ship, basking away in the Don Massimo Torricelli and Laura Biel kind of way but no, here we are in the cresent moon pack, him gloving me up while I prep for my fight lessons…. not like I’m complaining though.
Well, I was pretty sure both Everett and Violet conspired to kill me because only they could come up with such an idea.
Theodore, oh sweet Theodore. He would never be involved in such brutality.
Yeah, I said I wanted to train but this was fifteen levels ahead of what was supposed to be a beginner class. After Violet told me everything that happened between Everett and Agatha, it dawned on me that there was no befriending. She was a low-key sworn enemy and I have no problem with that. My issue was with the fact that she always paired with me whenever we trained.
And I feared because she had nothing to lose. The girl legit doubled me both in size and height. She effortlessly towered over me with her snarky attitude and always frowning face. I won’t pretend to understand what that girl was thinking, all I have to do is train my ass off to beat her.
Today was our skills testing day and as suspected Agatha had chosen to fight with me. And my friends, Violet and Theodore, and my darling Alpha boyfriend of mine decided to groom me a little before the fight.
“Faster Rachelle” Theodore howled as I tried to lodge his blows, gulping in air as my lung burnt in protest. “Agatha was fast as fuck. You are going to have to wear her down before you go on the attack ” he growled as he swiped my belly.
“Not too hard punches, Theodore” Everett wailed and I smiled. He’s been a lot possessive these days.
“Get the hell out if you can’t handle it, lover boy” Violet retorted and we all laughed.
Before I could regain from my little moment, a not so gentle kick landed on my back and I huffed in frustration from the impact. I marched towards him and shoved him, catching him off guard as he landed on his butt. He scowled at me before pushing himself back up.
“Don’t get mad at me. I’m doing this because I want you to win.” Theodore started. “So get your fucking head into it. Victory doesn’t come on a silver platter. Bring it on, girl” Theodore wailed and Everett took two long strides towards me. Shooting an apologetic smile at Theodore. Even though I’m hot and drenched in sweat, the sight of him still gave me the chills.
“He is right sweetness. Agatha is fast and methodological. She relies but she relies too heavily on her brute strength. Keep calm and put your head in the game” Everett pointed out and advised.
“Yeah! She is overly easily frustrated. I can use that against her” I mused and all three pairs of eyes looked at my pride.
“What?” I asked with a smirk.
“My little wolf,” Violet cooed.
“My girl is all grown up. She can read mental stance” Theodore said with a proud smile.
“Your girl?” Everett asked, pretending to be annoyed but we all saw right through his facade and laughed.
“But seriously, though. I think I’m gonna cry” Violet wailed and threw herself in Theodore’s arm while fake crying and he effortlessly caught her. I cracked up at the sight until my abdomen became sore and I fell to the ground.
“It feels so good down here. Maybe I’ll just remain here”
“Not so fast sweetness, you’ve got more training to do,” Theodore said, addressing me by Everett’s nickname for me.
I groaned and stuck out my arm to him and he smiled before pulling me up.
Four hours later, after a nerve-wracking practice, a two-hour sleep, and an early lunch, I stood on the ring on the open training ground warming up as I took on my opponent. While I was dressed in a grey with white workout shorts and a matching sporty bra, gloves, and shoes and my hair packed in a ponytail, Agatha dressed in what seemed like a regalia, in the fourth shade of the color purple, with streaks of bangles in her upper arm and a small golden crown, Theodoregling on her head.
Just as she was about to climb the ring, she undid the knot of the regalia and it fell off her body to reveal a set of all-pink attire. She also removed bangles and every other thing that wasn’t supposed to be on her before she mounted the stage.
We were both warmed up and then the referee signaled, asking if we were ready and we both nodded our heads-more like I nodded my head because Agatha only smiled.
The referee blew the whistle and gestured with his hand that we should start.
Without a moment’s pause, Agatha pounced, plunging her fist right at my face, I quickly stepped to the side and landed a faint punch on her arm as I stepped back from her. Her face whipped around in surprise but quickly contorted to anger at the contact. She turned and lunged at me, but I blocked her and scooted back again. All the while I felt Everett’s burning gaze at the back of my neck but I didn’t dare look back. However, my attention whipped between Theodore who was at my side, shouting and cheerleading at the same time being my coach.
Again, Agatha turned and lunged at me but I blocked her and scooted back. This time she grunted and charged, stepping to my left. I countered to the right and was stunned when she quickly shifted position, her first connecting to the side of my face. She smirked and followed it with a kick to my side and a heavy blow to my stomach, all at the same time. A loud cheering sound was heard from company money.
I groaned and crotched down which made the referee pause the fight and Theodore ran to my side. He touched my hair and said “hey…. Are you okay?” And I nodded. “This is what you should do, when she draws you offsides, she opens up to attacks, instead of countering your weight, go straight for her. They kick her legs and then pin her. You will get her straight and easily after that” Theodore lowly whispered in my ear. The referee called back the continuation of the fight. Theodore roughly but quickly ran his fingers down my hair before he said, “go get ’em”.
I nodded and went back to the ring. Immediately after, the referee called the shotgun, Agatha charged again, this time coming straight for me. I shifted out of her way and landed a quick punch to her side but she turned and licked at my face which I ducked and her leg came swinging over my head. Before the leg could drop though, I dived and grabbed the other leg and she fell to the ground. I quickly got on top of her and ran down a series of punches down her but the referee came and pulled me away.
She got back up and the anger on her face was palpable. She was seething. She charged again but before she could lunge on me, I planted my feet and batted her leg down before launching my leg into her stomach.
She staggered back and immediately turned to charge once more. I could see that she was frustrated that I was putting up much more of a fight than she had planned or hoped. She growled and pounced again, this time trying to get me off-center. This time I took Theodore’s advice and immediately stepped up to plant a heavy punch square in her face. She reeled backward and without wasting time, I did the once-for-three- times – smack before pouncing on her and shoving her to the ground -finally. I shoved my arm around her neck and pinned her wrist in my hand, locking my legs around her waist. After harsh elbows and snarls, she finally tapped to be released.
As she did, the crowd erupted in a loud cheer. All chanting my name as I held her to a complete still on the ground. A bell rang seven times and that was it. I had won the first phase of the fighting test
I loosened my grip and she shoved me off of her before popping to her feet. I hopped off from the ring and caught a proud smirk from Everett while Violet openly squealed. ” you did momma a lot of proud baby girl”
“I never knew you could fight like that. That was awesome, you did well” a brunette with matching honey brown eyes, cooed immediately the match was over and I was on the sidelines getting compliments and greetings from people.
“Thanks a lot” I answered, then I felt a hard shove against the back of my shoulder and I snapped around to see what it was. It was Agatha.
“Oops, did I bump you?” She asked sardonically, flipping her glowing raven hair over her pink-padded shoulders.
“Not at all since the touch was as light as a blowing leather in the air” I retorted and small annoying belly laughter erupted from around us. She snapped her head around and when she saw that it was the brunette, myself Violet, Theodore and Everett she humped before aggressively storming her leg on the ground and walked away, not bothering to pick her regalia.
Everett came and picked me up from The ground as his figure swallowed me whole in a bone-crushing hug, planting a series of slurry wet kisses all over my face. He finally lets me down and planted a full-blown out kiss on my lips. After we break apart I turned back and I discovered the brunette from earlier was gone and so was the warmth on Theodore’s face. He suddenly looked bothered.
Theodore’s pov
“Who could have ever imagined that our boy could ever get this love-up,” I asked Violet who was tapping away in sync to the stereo playing from the radar in the packhouse living room.
“You” she briskly replied before turning back to her song.
“Me?” I asked bewildered.
“Yes, you. You’ve always seen the brighter side of people’s lives and have so much believed in the light at the end of the tunnel anthology and theories that even after not finding his mate for so many years and we all were on the verge of believing he wouldn’t ever have a mate, you maintained he certainly would” She said in one breath. “Not to mention when things were bad between them, you were there as the love doctor and relationship coach for Everett so why would it be a shock to see him this loved-up when in fact, you played a major role in it all”
“I see”
“Mm-mm”
“I guess I’d have to continue believing in my light at the end of the tunnel theory,” I said and heaved a sigh.
“What makes you say that?” Violet asked, giving me her signature once over. The one she had always used to detect when I have something bothering me. I mean, the girl knows me too much.
“Because just like your little brother, as you often used to call him, I too would love to find a mate that would love me as much as I love her and that would complete…. That one female other than you that I’d simp with on all issues” I finished with a large smile on my face, only to frown it off with Violet’s next sentence.
“Now, that’s all boring. I’d rather have a mate with whom I’ll share a different perspective. Do you know? I’d rather argue with him about things than not. I’d like to hear him rant on and on about why his views are better than mine and later fight with him because he dared think less of my views” Violet mused and I fought the urge to not scream ‘women and their complicated desires. Like how would you intentionally want to have a fight with your mate over an issue of such?
Sighs… women, oh women!
“What?” She started.
“Tell me what qualities you’d like to find in your mate”
“Not like it’s any of your business, but for the sheer fact that you are my best friend, I’ll tell you” she mused.
“Thank you….”
“I’d like that my mate is kind. Of course, I wouldn’t be with a brutal man and secondly, he should be smart and intelligent, because of the sheer fact that I don’t want my kids to grow up and become like you in the future” she stuck out her tongue at the last part and I giggled “but more importantly, he should be possessive and hot as fuck… Stellan is hot and charming, I only hope he is of her things too; kind, intelligent, brave, and possessive.” Violet bemusedly ran through the last part. A sign that she was indeed aching to be in the space of her mate.
I should probably have a word about Stellan with Everett. Hopefully, he agrees to let him live with us in the crescent moon pack.
“Later bestie, I have to check on Rachelle”
“Should I be jealous?”
“Nope, your place in my heart is sealed forever” she planted a quick peck on my cheek before trotting away.
