When Nicola arrived, Patrick and Jennifer were still at an impasse. Harry secretly sent her a message, asking her to come over.
“Patrick!” she called out. “You need to calm down a bit.”
Patrick’s expression softened a little.
Nicola turned to Jennifer and said softly, “Aunt, you go in first. I’ll talk to you about this later. First, let Patrick go back and rest. They both look very tired.”
Jennifer’s face still didn’t look good. But Nicola’s attitude always made it hard for her to refuse. She wanted a daughter as lovely and understanding as Nicola, but she never got that chance.
In the end, she left angrily.
As Nicola passed by Patrick, she looked at him and said, “You should go back and rest too. Harry and I can handle things with Emma. After you go back, don’t continue to clash with Jennifer. It will make it difficult for Emma.”
Despite being an Alpha, for Patrick, Nicola was like his own sister. And as an Omega, very fragile, Patrick would still control his wolf.
Patrick looked at Emma, who was still next to Rory, and said harshly, “You should go home.”
Nicola walked towards Emma. “Why are you still covering your face with a scarf?”
Emma shook her head and remained silent.
Rory first looked at Emma, then spoke for her, “Half of her face has been injured.”
Patrick nervously stepped forward but was preempted by Nicola, who reached out and removed the scarf from around Emma’s neck. “It’s swollen,” she said.
Emma felt a sense of humiliation. Her weakness was being pitied by others. She turned away, not wanting to continue communicating with these people. “It’s not very painful.”
Harry sauntered over. “I thought she would have concealed it more.”
Patrick felt a deep pain. Even in his own home, he couldn’t protect Emma. But Emma actually told Rory about this matter and didn’t tell him. This feeling of not being trusted made him even more upset.
Rory sneered, “Hypocritical.”
“Rory!”
“Alright, I’m just stating the facts. You guys are a team, I’m an outsider, including Emma! I will take her away!”
Before Emma could react, Patrick and Rory were already grappling with each other.
“Patrick!”
Patrick had completely transformed into a wolf. His clothes were torn, and he pressed Rory to the ground, his sharp teeth biting into Rory.
Rory also transformed into a wolf and struggled with Patrick, but he was no match for an Alpha. Before long, he let out a whimper, unable to move on the ground.
No one dared to step forward to stop them. The strong Alpha pheromones made everyone kneel. Nicola was already unsteady, and Harry’s wolf also emerged, protecting Nicola and Emma.
Because Patrick had completely lost control, he would definitely kill foolish Rory. After all, he wouldn’t let anyone take Emma away. Rory had dared to challenge him!
This was the first time Emma saw Patrick’s wolf. To be honest, she hadn’t seen many wolves before, including her mother’s. Patrick’s wolf was very handsome. It was huge, pure black fur shimmering with a blue-purple light in the sunlight, and its eyes were a reddish-gold color, with a bloodthirsty glow.
But Emma felt a sense of strangeness and fear. She remembered Rory saying she didn’t understand the real Patrick, and she truly didn’t. This kind of Patrick was too dangerous. She couldn’t move, and next to her, Nicola was already crying out of fear.
In this place, no one could stop Patrick from killing Rory.
Rory continued to struggle in agony, constantly resisting Patrick’s overwhelming dominance.
“Emma, I know this isn’t fair, but it can only be you. Please go and reason with Patrick,” Harry’s voice woke Emma from her fear.
“I can’t.”
“Please, Nicola is almost breaking down. I can’t stop him. Although Rory deserves to die, we can’t let Patrick lose control.”
“I can’t… How can I stop him?”
“Emma,” Nicola forced herself to say, trembling, “please, don’t give up on Patrick.”
Emma wasn’t sure what she could do. But after a scream, she saw Rory lying on the ground, covered in mud and blood.
All because of her?! She couldn’t let Rory die because of her. She couldn’t live with that guilt for the rest of her life.
Harry cursed, then ran to the space between Rory and Patrick, attempting to stop Patrick from killing Rory further, but under the influence of the Alpha’s authority, he was simply outmatched.
Emma, with no idea where her courage came from, quickly ran towards Patrick. But when he turned and warned her with a snarl, she halted in her tracks.
“Patrick, I’m not here for Rory.”You need to calm down. I won’t go anywhere.” Emma gasped, feeling terrified, as though she might be torn apart the next second.
Patrick continued to growl lowly, his eyes fixed on Emma.
For some reason, Emma felt Patrick’s pain and distress. She sensed him as a lost, wild creature in need of soothing.
Swallowing hard, Emma approached, feeling Patrick’s hot breath almost spraying her face.
She was knocked down heavily, Patrick’s weight pressing on her, while everyone else was screaming. Emma felt her arms were almost breaking, the scent of blood was in the air, and she was injured.
Patrick’s massive wolf head was right in front of her, and Emma closed her eyes in fear, tears streaming down.
But she soon felt her wounds being licked by a rough tongue a sensation of itchiness, pain, and wetness.
The weight on her disappeared in an instant. She heard the sound of wind and running, and once she felt Patrick had left, Nicola almost crawled over to check on her.
“How are you feeling?” Nicola asked, worried.
Emma groaned. The sudden pounce by the Alpha had left her bones aching. Her clothes were torn, and there were bloodstains on her arms, but no visible wounds.
“He healed you,” Nicola noted.
“Rory!” Emma called out, staggering toward him.
Rory had reverted to his human form, his clothes torn. Harry stopped Emma. “Don’t go over there. He’s badly injured and needs medical attention. I’ll take him to the hospital.” He didn’t want to risk Patrick coming back and possibly attacking him if Emma saw Rory naked.
Emma couldn’t believe how things had turned out, and with Patrick having run away.
“What will happen to him?”
“I don’t know,” Harry said, covering Rory with his coat as he looked at Emma earnestly. “Listen, Patrick needs you right now. He can’t lose himself.”
“Me?”
“Yes. He needs you. His wolf returned because he sensed the power of the moon goddess, and I believe that’s related to you.”
“I feel that he’s in a lot of pain and confusion right now. A young Alpha like him is very dangerous, and he’s too young. He doesn’t have the guidance of the previous Alpha.”
“What happens without guidance?”
“He won’t come back. He’ll sleep in the depths, unaware of his mother, unaware of you. Our Pack will lose its Alpha.”
Emma didn’t dare to delve into the meaning of not coming back, which was different from her mother leaving. She just didn’t want any conflict between them, but her leaving had had such a big impact on Patrick.
“I’ll bring him back. Tell me, where did he go?” Emma said firmly.
“He just ran into the forest. You can wait for me to inform the other members of the Pack, and then we’ll go in together to find him.”
Emma nodded and stepped back, looking at Rory. “No need! Take good care of Rory for me!”
“Emma!” Nicola called out.
But Emma ran off into the forest without turning back.
