With all this drama going around, a nice, unexpected kiss like this makes my mind go blank. The stress just seems to go away, and my focus completely averts to his warm lips pushing against mine.
Its calming.
The kiss was not intense nor needy. It was just a few passionate seconds between us, and that’s exactly how it was supposed to be… until Kasan made the not-so-innocent move to slither his hands under my shirt, fingers caressing the skin of my waist. His body gently guided mine towards the wall as the kiss deepened, lips molding together and skin becoming hotter and hotter the harder we pushed against each other.
I felt his teeth clamp down on my bottom lip lightly, then his hot tongue slipped out his mouth and flicked over my skin. A moan instantly fought its way through my lips.
That was my cue to finally turn my face away and slip my hands between us, pushing at his chest. As expected, my efforts went nowhere because he didn’t budge.
“K-Kasan, stop!” I whisper-shout, shivering as his tongue left my lips and found my neck, licking at that specific spot that made my knees go weak.
“Hmmm.” He hummed, completely ignoring me. “There’s plenty of vacant rooms here.”
“We’re absolutely NOT doing this here!” My fingers gripped his hair and was a second away from pulling out a handful of strands but when his teeth sunk into my skin, I found myself stupidly crooking my neck and pulling him impossibly closer.
Fuck…
“That f-feels…ah…” I felt my body shiver as his leg slipped between my thighs, rubbing against my nether region.
He smirked against my skin, invading hands creeping higher up my shirt. “What do you say we keep one of those rooms occupied for bit, babe?”
I should say no but…
“Oka-”
“Alpha…Luna…?”
…L-Lucas?!
My cheeks flushed a bright shade of red, gaze quickly snapping in the direction of the familiar voice. As I thought, a dumbfounded Lucas stood there, blue eyes staring wide over at us.
Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! This is the second time he’s made this happen!
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have seen that!” His eyes immediately averted when I looked over at him. “I was going out and I wasn’t positive that it was you both. I should have just walked by, I’m sorry! But did you come to see me…?” He babbled, looking anywhere but at us.
“…You fucking annoying mutt.” Kasan grumbled something along those lines, his head slowly raising from the crook of my neck. Then, I was surprised when he had enough decency to step away from me, an angry frown swallowing his features. Gently, he ruffled my hair before shoving his hands into his pockets and stalking off with his bird nest flying in all directions. Of course, he just had to shoot a glare in Lucas’s direction before he turned the corner.
I’m the one who should be angry. You sullied my brother’s eyes! What will he think of me now?!
As soon as he was out of sight, Lucas’s eyes finally met mine and his body seemed to loosen up quite a bit.
So, he was only scared of Kasan?
“Uh…Could you maybe erase that from your memory?” I leaned off the wall and fiddled with my fingers, still struck with embarrassment.
“Done.” He sent me a small, awkward smile. “If you came to see me, would you like to come inside? My room is down the hall.”
“Y-Yeah.”
Nodding, he gestured for me to follow and turned on his feet, walking back down the hall from where he came. I followed silently behind, and after walking a few doors down, we stepped into a pretty much empty room. The only stuff he had there were two chairs, a bed and a small table. That’s it.
I made sure to leave the door open behind me.
“So…You look like you’re doing perfectly fine. Are you still hurt anywhere?” I uttered, pulling one of the chairs to the side and hesitantly sitting down.
It wasn’t a surprise that I could feel myself gradually becoming nervous as soon as my butt hit the chair. Having the door open helped a bit, but I still felt uncomfortable with him. Why did I not think before coming?!
Now, I’m kind of regretting not bringing Kasan in with me. Then again, Kasan’s constant cussing would be pretty bad for Lucas’s mental health so it’s for the best, I guess.
“I’m basically as good as new, Jace said I could leave whenever.” He took ahold of the other chair and settled it a few feet in front of me before sitting down, hands clasped in his lap.
It’s good that he’s fine and doesn’t look the least bit like he got shot. Now that I’ve seen him, should I just leave? I didn’t really have to come here at all, it seems. But if I leave now, won’t I look weird?
I could use a few minutes to ask him about his mate, let’s just hope he doesn’t think I’m invading his personal life.
“I heard the sole woman here aside from me is your mate, that’s lucky if you ask me. Do you like her?”
His face immediately scrunched up at the question and I resisted the urge to laugh. He really doesn’t like her, does he?
“Maybe a little then? She’s your mate, I thought you gotta like her?”
“She doesn’t like me much either.”
“But she has the brains and she’s not too ugly. She even looked scared when she was talking to Kasan a bit ago yet she said everything she had on her mind. She’s a good one. Plus, I heard it’ll be bad if you don’t mate.”
Well, that was partly true.
“Yeah, I’ve heard bits about that.” His face remained impassive with not a single display of concern in the matter…almost as if it wasn’t his problem. “There’s a lot going on right now so I can’t pay attention to a mate, I just need to protect you.”
I felt my whole body jump at his words. Huh? That gave me a sudden feeling of deja vu and on the other hand, my skin was crawling. He’ll protect me? Did I hear that right?
“Did Kasan tell you to do that? If it’s because of what happened in the past, its fine. You don’t ha–”
“No.” He was quick to object despite not even letting me finish. “I want to because we’re family. We should protect each other.”
Family…? When was the last time I heard that from his mouth? I guess when you wake up from a coma with no memories, the only thing you can think about is family. But why hasn’t he asked me about mom and dad if he’s so devoted? Or maybe he asked Kasan? Did Kasan let them meet?
“Then why don’t you at least try to get along? She got hurt in the attack; won’t you check if she’s alright?”
He didn’t hide his displeasure but nodded anyway. “If you want me to.”
I scowled. Why am I getting the feeling he’d do anything I say…? I’m positive he knows that his past wasn’t a good one so…is it guilt?
“I’m meeting mom and dad in a few days…not sure when. Do you want to come, or have you met them already?”
He still didn’t show any interest despite the mention of his parents. Does he think I’m being inquisitive? I can’t tell what he’s thinking since his expression just stays the same.
“I haven’t… but I’ll give it a thought.”
“Okay…”
I sat awkwardly after that and the silence remained thick until I even started bobbing my head back and forth and staring down at my fingers. I don’t have anything else to say. And he probably doesn’t even want to talk to me but doesn’t have the guts to say it. Should I just leave?
“So…” He finally broke the silence. “Can I come with you tomorrow?”
“Huh?”
“Alpha said they’re leaving as soon as day breaks. They’ll be scattering the men in all sorts of places to find the nightwalker. I’m already healed so I can tag along with you as long as you permit it. You’d have to bring your gun since y–”
“Wait…With me? Kasan never takes me anywhere.” The ludicrousness of his words made me snicker. “If you want to go, I can ask him about that but Kasan definitely won’t take me. Who said I’m going?”
When did Kasan even get the chance to tell him that?
“The Alpha already said so…that you’re going with him.”
