Another Bad Day

A few minutes later and they were close to completely searching every nook and cranny, except for this room of course. I remember even hearing furniture moving and glass breaking. Are they searching or destroying everything in their path?!
I chewed on my lip and kept silent up until they started to file out, the woman making it out before the others.
“It seems Alpha doesn’t trust that she-wolf.” Lucas said as I heard him gently plop down on to the bed. I turned to look at him and held back a smile as I watched him barely manage to keep his butt situated at the edge of the bed.
Does he think Kasan will kill him if he sits down?
“You can sit comfortably; Kasan isn’t even here.” I waved my hand back and forth in a gesture for him to move further up the bed. “By the way, do you know anything about this? Does she maybe…seem…” my lips pursed, hesitating to finish.
‘Does she maybe seem familiar?’ …Was what I wanted to say but couldn’t get it out.
I’d been holding onto the question for a bit. I wasn’t sure if it was a good idea to ask, considering that anything at all could trigger his memories…even if it’s only a little.
But then again, if getting his memories back helps to put the pieces together then…
“Are you alright? You’re looking pale again.”
“I’m fine.” I mumbled.
They said something about a woman named Terra and those who are somehow related to her. If Lucas has anything to do with her… then does that mean that the name on the necklace actually refers to that same person?
That can’t be a mere coincidence, that I’m sure of. What I need to know, is how and why Lucas is tangled in all this…
Kasan even said he’s some kind of ‘rare’ werewolf.
If that’s true, could my brother also have that ability? To turn humans to werewolves?!
“So, you asked if I remember anything about all this? Is that what you’re so worried about?”

I stiffened. Those mere words made my chest clench and my stomach churn in a way that made me want to vomit. I shifted so my body was completely facing him and glued my widened eyes to his figure as dread ran down my spine.
“W-What d-do you mean?”
“The woman…” He said, “…she’s saying she plans to turn humans to werewolves. Isn’t that what you’re worried about?”
…oh.
I nodded quickly, my cheeks heating up with embarrassment. “Yeah, I was just wondering…”
Get ahold of yourself for fucks sake!
“No, I don’t. Sorry but it’s useless to ask me.” He scratched the back of his head, “And they don’t really tell me anything aside from the basics, not that I mind. But the way they’re speaking, I just assumed they aren’t on good terms with eachother… which is why I said it seems like he doesn’t trust her.”
“Then…does that woman seem familiar? Maybe you saw her somewhere before?”
I said it all in one go, and felt my blood drain when he actually stopped to think. He tilted his head, eyes sweeping to the ceiling as his brows drooped in thought.
“No,” he finally answered, and I couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. I shouldn’t be relieved but I shamefully am.
“But I-”
“…still haven’t told me what you think of my plans. Are you interested?”
My head snapped towards the window the second the woman’s voice met my ears again. Both her and Kasan were out front again and by now, all her belongings had exited the house… the thug-looking guys who came with her that is.
“If you’re sure they won’t turn against you…then by all means.” Kasan shrugged, “I know better than anyone that humans are the masters of betrayal. Hopefully the last of you elders don’t die for chasing after these ludicrous dreams. As for my revenge, keep your nose out of my business if you don’t want me to regret not taking you hags out. I deal with things my own way.”
Leave it to the warmonger to provoke the enemy. I thought he said he’d rather things go smoothly? Tsk!
“And here I thought you’d join hands with us? We’re the oldest werewolves to this date, you think we don’t know how to control new pups? As a matter of fact, we even have our ways to put the defects back in their place. Anyone who doesn’t know when to kneel needs to die. In any case, it seems you have other things to worry about.” She smiled crookedly, her chin gesturing towards the house, “I’ll hurry to take my leave and let you deal with that. I’d rather not get mixed up with that nightwalker again. Boys, lets go!”
She spun on her heels, her white gown stirring in the wind as she walked through the paved path and towards the woods. She made leaving sound urgent, yet she was moving so daintily that it didn’t seem so urgent anymore.
What the fuck is she even talking about?
“Luna…”
Lucas’s voice suddenly sounded so frighteningly close that I jerked, my body quickly twisting around to look behind me.
For some reason, he was no longer sitting on the bed, but standing directly behind me close enough for me to feel his breath touching my skin. He seemed on high alert with his eyes frantically shifting between the two possible entrances to the room: the windows and the door.
His fingers then gripped my arm so suddenly that I flinched, but I didn’t yank it out of his grasp as much as my body itched to do so. From the panicked look in his eyes, I could tell there was now some kind of threat. I couldn’t see anything of the sort nor hear anything aside from a loud howl outside, but I could smell something…something pungent.
With one yank, he pulled me away from the window and stood in front of me, his body shielding mine.
“It’s wolfsbane. This could be an attack.” His voice sounded calm yet his eyes were slowly becoming red and veiny. “You don’t need to panic. It won’t harm you as long as you don’t inhale too much. I just need to get you out of here.”
I don’t need to panic?
My throat was already burning and not to mention how he looked right now! How can I not panic?!
“Is it werewolves?” I pressed my arm to my nose, my gaze following his own. I wasn’t even sure what I was searching for.
“No. Not werewolves… I’m sure. Its most likely the human who wants you dead.”
Ah…that fucking twat they sent to kill me?-
“My gun… Where did I put my gun?”
I quickly made the move to tug my arm out of his grasp, but to no avail. Rather than loosening as I wanted, his fingers only tightened on my skin, enough for it to start aching. I wanted to search for my gun and at least get a good shot at the punk who thought he could kill me, but the stern gaze that began to burn into my skin completely rooted my feet to the ground.
“The Alpha wants us to get out through the window, we should do as he says.”
Despite how weak my limps felt due to whatever they sprayed in the air, my mind still desperately wanted to object and even my hands were itching to smack his hands off me. But I found myself nodding without a single word.
Fuck!
He pulled me over to the window on slightly staggering feet and swiftly slid the curtains to the side before sticking his head out to look down. I glanced down as well but could hardly spot anything. My vision was becoming blurry and I could tell that Lucas wasn’t too quick on his feet either.
I don’t think he’s in any position to jump from this height…
“Alpha’s currently in the building, you need to leave…!” His eyes darted towards the door then back out the window. “Hold on to my neck, I’ll ju-”
A loud gunshot ripped through the air and the door simultaneously swung open, the metal knob falling to the floor. As my eyes slowly made out a blurry figure standing by the door, one of Lucas’s hands immediately found my waist while the other released my arm and shielded my head.
I could hardly breath with him so terrifyingly close, but the situation was too drastic to complain.
Whoever stood there was wearing all black with knives tucked in every corner of his suit and a black mask covering his face. The only portions of his body which was bare were the eyes and the little space between his collar and his mask. In short, I wouldn’t be able to see anything important even if my vision wasn’t blurred.
It didn’t take long for another gunshot to sound, piercing through the wall just beside the window. My fingers gripped Lucas’s shirt on impulse. I was probably more scared for him than myself. He didn’t just wake up from a coma for nothing! I swear if anything happens to him, this bitch would be so fucking dead! He’d better thank the heavens I don’t have my gun!
But that shot… was more like a warning. Why not just shoot for the kill?
“We’re jumping, hold on tight!”
Wait–what?!
Lucas moved quicker than even I could register, pressing one foot to the windowsill and lifting me off the floor bridal style. Then just before another gunshot sounded, he pushed off…
While the cool air whipped against my skin and we began to fall, I watched as the shooter turned on his feet. He wasted no time in running off whilst his hand grabbed the bottom of his mask, beginning to pull it off.
It was then that I happened to make out a small snake-looking tattoo at the side of his neck…
