“By the way, where did all your weird friends go?” I asked, stretching my arms over my head as my bare feet trudged through the grass littering the ground. The house was pretty close to the forest so greenery was practically everywhere. Not sure why they chose to live in such a secluded area but I do like it here except for the fact that I feel like a caged animal.
“I’ve banned them from entering the main house. This place is larger than it looks. There’s more than five houses on the land. I told them to take the one farthest away.”
I sent him a happy thumbs up. “Good idea. That Kenley guy makes me wish I had a gun.”
Kasan grinned. His nicely styled raven hair was gradually ruined as the wind passed through the strands like storm. But as usual, he was still sexy… if not more than before. “Then…” He said. “–you’ll be happy to know that my favorite gun will be my second gift to you. Keep it close. We have alot of surprise attacks around here.” He left my side, his feet abruptly picking up it’s pace as he brimmed with newfound enthusiasm.
I rose a confused brow. “Second gift? What’s the first?”
“I bought you clothes. Did you forget?”
Slapping a slender tree branch out of my path, I bored holes into his shirtless back. He stopped a few steps into the forest and began ruffling through a pile of dried grass for what I assumed was his ‘favorite gun’. My short, useless legs took a while to finally catch up to him.
“These aren’t clothes, they’re trash.” I remarked bitterly, looking down at myself in sheer displeasure. “They barely hide anything.”
He momentarily paused what he was doing just to send a grin my way. I wrapped my hands around my chest when his intruding eyes travelled down to that particular spot.
“Stop staring!” I demanded whilst pulling my clothes upwards a bit to hide my slightly exposed breasts. “This is why I hate these clothes.”
His grin only widened in response. “You shouldn’t be hiding anything in the first place. You are mine, therefore I should be able to admire you whenever I want.”
“Whatever.” Frowning, I walked around him and craned my neck to see what he was doing. “I hope you’re not going to pull out a lame pistol. Fyi, I like big things.”
“I’ve noticed.” He laughed. “It’s a rifle that I’ve had for years. I’m sure you’ll like it.”
I immediately spiked with interest. A rifle? For some reason I was usually denied of anything except for pistols and the last time I even saw a rifle or shotgun for that matter, is back when dad had things going for him…. and that is a veryyy loooong time ago.
“Are you doing a remake under there? Hurry up will you? We don’t have all day.”
He rolled his eyes as he finally pulled his hand from under the pile of grass. “I have i-”
Before he could even finish his sentence, I bent down and swooped the rifle into my grasp.
“It looks so spotless even though it’s probably been buried for a while and you said you’ve had it for years right? Where did you find such a sexy babe? I haven’t touched one of these in years!” I gushed, looking over it with complete amazement and adoration.
“Wait.” I pulled my gaze away from the gun and glanced at him suspiciously. “Why are you gifting me such a dangerous weapon?” I dragged the word ‘dangerous’ with as much emphasis as possible. “Is this another stupid attempt at impressing me?”
“Yeah, you could say that.” He nodded without hesitance, folding his arms over his chest as he watched me with his lips turned up at one side.
“Thanks, I guess. But you wouldn’t mind me using it on you when I get the chance right?”
“Not at all.”
“You should drop that cocky attitude.” I scowled at his completely unfazed figure. “Once my parents are out of harm’s way, I will. Trust me on that.” My tone was solemn despite the fact that my brain didn’t agree with those words. The idea of killing him doesn’t seem very appealing anymore… perhaps not even to begin with. But he doesn’t need to know that, does he?
“Sure you will.” He chuckled, easing out of his relaxed position and walking over to me. Unfolding his arms, he grabbed me by the shoulder and spun me around so my back was pressed to him. “Look around and you’ll see a few targets surrounding you. Whoever has the best accuracy wins. If it makes you any more excited, remember that the loser gets to do whatever the other wants…. you can even shoot me, if you wish.”
“You’re giving me authority to kill you? What happens to my parents afterwards?”
“They die… I guess.” I felt him shrug from behind me.
“Then no thanks.” I reached up to pluck his fingers off my shoulders then turned around to face him. “Anyway, let’s get to it, shall we? I’ll go first.” Cocking the gun against my shoulder, I walked by him and headed to the center of the training ground. And with a confident grin, I called out to him. “Get ready to be amazed…”
He gestured for me to begin, but I continued to stare at him, expecting that he would get the hell out of my line of fire, however, even when I aimed my gun, he still didn’t move an inch. This guy has absolutely no fear whatsoever. If I was an amateur —which I’m not— and just happened to shoot him, what the hell would he do? You can’t exactly get back a life that’s already lost.
Sighing, I momentarily placed the gun between my thighs and moved my hands upwards, wrapping my hair up into a messy bun. “Since you don’t plan on moving, I’ll just get started.” With that, I resettled the gun in my grasp, formed my stance then proceeded to aim at the target closest to Kasan. As I did so, my eyes caught sight of the numerous claw marks that littered most of the trees, but I didn’t bother to question him about it, figuring that it was most likely an animal attack.
When I took my first shot, it was perfect…. right in the center. After having done this over and over, I wasn’t the least bit surprised, but I did feel a little excited to have him watch me. I don’t doubt that he’s amazed. I’m probably the best shooter he’s ever seen.
I didn’t waste anytime in going for the next target… then the other and the other. Within just a few seconds, I shot almost ten targets. And all that remained was one… a single one. I turned in its direction, pressed my finger lightly against the trigger and aimed… then—
“You look sexier than ever.” Kasan’s voice abruptly resounded through the forest. “I’m getting hard.”
Annnnd… there goes my perfect shot.
Dropping my hands to my side, I darted a glare over to him. “You threw me off!” I complained, pointing over to the wooden target. The bullet hole was merely around an inch away from the center. I would’ve hit it directly if it weren’t for him distracting me!
“I was just stating facts. I’m seriously hard.” Grinning, he moved from where he was standing and walked from tree to tree as he changed each target. “Anyway, it’s my turn, right? Better luck next time.”
“You should be worrying about yourself. Don’t forget that you’ll be eating from the toilet tonight.” Scowling, I threw the gun his way and stepped to the side with a huff.
He’s still so freaking mouthy despite having seen me in action and that irks me quite alot. And not to forget the fact that he’s not even shaken up one bit!
As I childishly huffed in the corner, a loud blast drew me away from my thoughts.
“First one down, princess.”
I blinked, snapping my gaze from the ground and over to him. He aimed and shot in less than two seconds? And right on fucking point!?
At first, I was sure he was just ‘lucky’…. but when his second, third and forth shots brought along the same kind of accuracy, I literally started running water like a river.
Flabbergasted, I stood there with sweat pooling along my skin, dreadfully watching as he hit the bullseye over and over again. Each shot was like a bullet to my pride. I’ve never felt so embarrassed in my whole fucking life.
When he shot the very last shot as perfect as ever, I couldn’t even find it in me to stare at him. Rocking back and forth, I geared my gaze towards my feet and fiddled with my fingers behind me.
“I’d say I did pretty well, don’t you think?”
I didn’t reply. I was too embarrassed to even look at him, so how the hell could I even bare to speak?
But in that moment of complete embarrassment, my savior thankfully chose to break me free. That someone happened to be Nate.
Our conversation got thrown out the window when out of nowhere, he came running through the forest and before he even reached to us, his lips spread across his face into a beaming grin and excitedly, he shouted from the distance. “Lucas is finally awake!”
I instantly stiffened at the sound of the name.
… L-Lucas?
