My hand clutched tightly to the chair the moment Olivia was out of my sight. My breath echoed through the silent walls of my room with my chest heaving painfully.
This pain hasn’t occurred in a while, I was wrong to think that the pain must’ve gone completely. My wolf groaned in pain and hissed loudly as he curled tighter into me
I tried moving from my position but with each step I took, the pain intensified, leaving me growling in torment.
Tiana, my mate, and I were poisoned three years ago by an unknown person. I still haven’t gotten a hold of the perpetrator.
The power of the poison instantly took her life while I survived but I now have to live in pain for the rest of my life given the fact that the cure has not been found.
For three years, I have been living with the pain of losing my mate while struggling to live. No one has been able to identify the kind of poison that was used on us even after proper examination.
The only person who knows how I can get out of this misery is the person who put me in it. I will make sure I get him by all means, even if it will take some time.
I will make sure he lives the rest of his life atoning for his sins, I will pluck out his eyes, cut off his legs and arms, and throw him inside a pit where he will wish to be rather dead than alive.
Whoever the person is, he will go through every pain I have experienced.
The sound of the door opening drew my attention to it, it was Luca. “Are you okay?” he asked, helping me to the bed.
I felt my intestine twisted and a pain in my chest
After making sure that I was seated, he searched through my drawer and brought out my herbal medicine which I took instantly without hesitation.
“Should I inform the doctor?” he asked and I waved my hand at him in disapproval. “No need” I replied with a hoarse voice.
The pain is manageable compared to the hell I have been through. Although it hurts, it is tolerable.
“What if you end up passing out again from the intensity?” he asked worriedly and I shook my head.
“I will be fine, I just need some rest. There’s nothing to fuse about” I grunted, helping myself to lay on the bed with the hope that when I wake up from sleep, I should be feeling better.
The herbs were enough to make me feel drowsy since it’s sleep-induced. “Have you found anything about him? Still nothing?” I managed to ask.
Luca shook his head, clasping his hands in front of him. “I am sorry Alpha, we are still in search of him. But we will get him soon” he affirmed.
It’s been three years since someone tried to take my life and that of my Luna but just one of us ended up dying and no one has been able to get a grasp of who did that.
I have searched everywhere, including other packs for a shadow of him to no avail. No matter what, I am never giving up on the search until I find him.
“It’s okay, thank you, Luca. You are going through a lot because of me” I felt guilty for making him work all the time on a case that has nothing to do with him.
But I do not trust anyone to do the job better than him. “It’s my pleasure, Alpha. I will leave you to rest” Without saying anything further, he bowed and left.
My mind drifted to Olivia and for odd reasons, I reminisced on the way I yelled at her and sent her out some minutes ago.
I almost took my anger out on her when she knew nothing. I also did not want her to see me in pain or find out that I have been ill for a long time now.
The only people who know about my predicament are Luca and Claire, no one aside from them knows that Tiana died from food poisoning.
The concerned look on Olivia’s face earlier flashed through my mind and my heart sank even more. I shouldn’t have screamed at her but I had no choice.
I wanted to do anything I could to get her out of my sight to avoid hurting her, I don’t know what I would do to her when I am not thinking straight.
I have had a lot of regrets in my life, enough to last me forever. I do not need to add any more.
My eyes began closing slowly and I found myself giving in to sleep as I got engulfed in darkness.

I woke up sweating profusely. Sitting up on the bed, I wiped the seat off my forehead and sighed. Nightmares have become part of my life.
I can’t have a proper sleep without waking up from one, even during that time.
I cleared my throat and stood up from the bed with my wolf groaning due to the slight headache I was feeling. He suffers it the most whenever I am hurt because he hates being in pain.
It is one of the reasons I don’t shift into my wolf form, I can handle it better than he does.
Grabbing a cup of water from the table, I gulped down everything and turned to check the time. It was already past 8 in the evening.
I must’ve slept for hours. I have to skip dinner, I don’t have an appetite to eat right now.
Just right when I was about to go to the window to feel the breeze of the evening fresh air, my door opened, revealing Claire.
“Good evening Alpha Damon” she greeted while I nodded my head in response. She had a beautiful smile on her face that could have calmed me down a while ago.
“How is Amy?” I asked, trying to initiate a conversation between us. “She came back this evening and demanded to see you but it’s already late, ” Claire responded.
With a raised eyebrow, I sat down on the bed. If she was going to come here, she could have done that with Amy.
“Why are you here? Is there anything you want? I will make the provision for you” I uttered. She chuckled sheepishly and shook her head.
“I don’t need anything, for now” she answered as I stared questionably at her. “I just want to spend the night here, with you” she dropped.
Coughing slightly, my eyes found hers. I love the company of Claire, she tends to make me feel relaxed when I am with her.
But right now, she is not the one I want to be with. “Next time Claire, you need to stay with Amy. She’s alone” I replied monotonously to avoid her getting hurt by my words.
“I will call you when I need you but for now, help me get Olivia here. I want to talk with her” I requested.
Claire smiled, I could see the disappointment on her face but I didn’t let it bother me. I can’t touch her the way I do to Olivia, their positions are different.
“Yes, Alpha” she stormed off before I could say anything else. Given her nature, she is going to sulk about this night and avoid me for days.
I don’t know how she is a grown up but still childish. Although, it’s one of the reasons why I like her.
About five minutes later, I heard a knock on the door, followed by a careful opening. I knew who it was immediately.
That’s Olivia’s signature entering, she always makes sure to knock before coming in. My eyes moved swiftly to the door as I took in her appearance.
She was changed into a short body-hugging gown that fitted her body perfectly as though it was initially made for her. The dress made her more beautiful, it also complimented her skin.
“Good evening, Alpha” she muttered, I had to strain my ears so I could hear her. “Are you going to keep standing by the door?” I questioned.
She moved towards me and stopped a few steps from me, holding both hands in front of her while bowing her head.
“Look at me” I commanded, still seated on the bed. I watched as she raised her head, her innocent eyes met mine and she bit her lips out of nervousness.
Is she still afraid of me? I would never physically hurt her. “Do you feel better now?” she stuttered which made me chuckle.
Why did she ask if she was going to stammer? For a few seconds, I was happy that she remembered that I was not feeling okay.
She also did not get mad at me for the way I treated her earlier.
“I am fine” I replied and stood up from the bed, circling her for a minute before stopping in front of her with a few distance between us.
“Olivia” I called calmly, she didn’t reply but looked at me. “I want you to strip, right now!”
