Damon’s knuckles that had been littered with bruises due to the hard punches he had delivered, were now fully healed but blood still sticked to Damon like a second skin, almost completely changing the colour of his shirt to red. The funny thing was, none of that blood was his own… not even a single drop. Everything belonged to that giraffe-looking twat that laid his filthy hands on what wasn’t his and even dared to challenge him for a fight that he knew he couldn’t win.
Such brazenness had never met his eyes in years. He deserved all that he got and more, much more. How dare he?! If it weren’t for the alliance that they had forged a few weeks ago, he would’ve broken every single bone in his body and ripped through all his flesh until all he could see was blood wholly covering him.
Damon was angry. The horrid thoughts he was having, the grim look on his face and the violent rising of his veins made that very clear. Even though he had stowed away for a few hours after his battle, he still couldn’t relieve himself of the anger he had felt in that moment. Time couldn’t change a thing because nothing could soothe him more than Kevin’s face smashed to goo.
“It’s good to see you safe and sound, but after what happened years ago, I’m sure you know how much of a threat Sarah can be to you. How could you just leave her there?” Jason’s voice filled his ears, inciting his flaming hazel eyes to travel over to him as he rounded the corner.
“What did you say?” Damon clenched his jaw, rooting his feet into the ground as daggers left his eyes and targeted themselves directly at Jason’s stoic figure. Jason was always the jolly type and the fact that he was serious at this point in time, made Damon’s anger sky rocket. He had made it clear to him… no, he made it care to everyone who knew of his past, that they should never speak of it again… yet the person he least expected this from, was doing exactly that. It seemed as if everyone was becoming brazen all of a sudden.
“There are hundreds of people out there; both werewolves and humans, who would kill for such an opportunity.” Jason continued, stopping to look over at Damon when his feet was positioned inline with his. “Even a second is enough to get her killed… And if she ends up dying, you might not be as lucky as you were back then. You’ve already gotten a lot weaker as it is.”
Damon clenched his hands by his side and turned to loom over him, his teeth gritting together as a dangerous new surge of anger seeped through him, anger that was so transparent that even Jason lowered his head in submission.
“My apologies.” Jason surrendered under his sharp stare, “But you should consider my words if you want to stay safe. Maxim’s forces are getting stronger by the day and there’s also been some mini attacks lately. I’m sure he has something planned.” And with that, he continued on his way out.
Damon didn’t have to think much about his words in order to conclude that he was right, he already knew that very well. But he had been so hypnotized by that woman that he couldn’t help but run after. The fact that he hadn’t caught up to her gave him the idea that she was a werewolf, however now that his mind was somewhat level, he was pretty sure that he was mistaken despite that. Katie died ten years ago. The inexplicable pain that he felt at that time was proof of that. He must’ve lost his mind for a second to even make such a drastic mistake after all these years.
Leaving his thoughts, Damon walked off and went towards the area where Jason had came from. When he turned the corner, his orbs made contact with Sarah’s cold one. He was the one who was supposedly angry, but by the way she was looking at him, he felt as if she was penetrating his body with merely her stare. He couldn’t deny that for a second there, he was a little intimidated.
“What did you do that?” She asked, shifting her gaze so she could mope it around the room.
Damon’s eyes clouded over with resent. The first thing he expected her to inquire about was his health, yet the woman in front of him didn’t even seem like she cared. She wasn’t even looking at him. Sarah was always sensitive over everything and he could always easily read her emotions but to think she would suddenly look like this because of some stupid human.
“Isn’t it obvious?” He spat indignantly. “He touched what’s mine so I taught him a lesson. He shouldn’t have d-”
“I wasn’t talking about Kevin.” She cut him off, “I was asking why you left me there and went after that woman.”
Damon stiffened. That question was totally unexpected and not to mention the malice that dripped form her words. Could it be that she was angry that he left her at the mall unattended? She had no right to get angry when he didn’t even leave her in the middle of nowhere. And it wasn’t his intention anyway. If he hadn’t mistook that woman for somebody else, then he wouldn’t have left in the first place. But to explain that to her would be difficult.
“That isn’t the matter here.” He tried his best to deviate their conversation from that topic. He was already agitated as it was, speaking of it more deeply would only enhance it. “Why were you even talking to that Hunter?”
Sarah’s disappointment was evident but she didn’t press any further. If both him and Jason weren’t telling her anything, then she probably wouldn’t hear anything of it for now. But she undeniably hated how much they were trying to cover up his past with that woman. It was irritating, everything he said was irritating.
“I didn’t talk to him by choice. He was the one who approached me.” She sighed. “And you didn’t have to hurt him.”
Damon looked at her as if she had grown two horns. “Then did you think I’d just let him go? I’ve made sure that he won’t be touching anything for a while.”
“He didn’t do anything wrong.” Sarah licked her lips, knowing full well that that was a lie. He had done a lot of things wrong actually. Firstly, he assumed that she wanted to run off with him somewhere when she totally did not want to. And secondly, though he seemed to be genuinely worried, that didn’t change the fact that he did get way too aggressive. But despite concluding that Kevin was in the wrong, she would never give Damon the right. As long as he kept trying to avoid telling her anything, she’d continue to oppose him at all costs. “You shouldn’t have hurt him when he was only trying to help.”
“Help you?” Damon could hardly believe his ears. He was angry to the point where he suddenly felt a burst of energy surge through him that threatened to make him shift on spot. His palms stung from his elongated nails digging into them and his body seemed to tremble on spot as he struggled to contain himself. He should not have hurt him? How dare she tell him what to do?! “Who’s he to worry about you? You’re mine, Sarah. Not his!”
“I simply don’t appreciate you hurting my friend.”
Friend? Now Damon was surely regretting keeping that Hunter alive more than ever. He deserved to die… again and again.
His fist tightened and with his dark aura dissipating throughout the ambience, he took a step closer to her, that effortlessly intimidating movement immediately reminding Sarah of who he was and what exactly he was capable of. She reclined in her seat, her eyes finally moving over to him with hesitance…. but the furious look in his eyes, prompted her to look away from him the second her gaze met his.
“He is not your friend.” Damon declared resolutely, stopping at her feet with his body looming over her and his eyes set on her face. He unfurled his fingers and reached toward her, gripping her chin firmly in his grasp before lifting it. “From now on, don’t let anyone touch you, talk to you nor look at you. You’re mine. Only mine.” He then released her chin and turned on his heels. “And go take a bath. You reek of that stinking Hunter.”
After his final words left his lips, he stalked off towards the stairs and slammed the door shut when he entered his room.
