apologize

Book:Mated To The Ruthless Alpha King Published:2024-6-5

Damon released one of his hand from their hold on her waist and ran it through his hair. He wasn’t planning on making it known that he had taken control yet… but he managed to let it slip within just a few measly seconds. Why did he have to mention anything about Liam when he didn’t even want to? The words just fired out of his mouth without even asking for his permission first. He had no control over it. But what’s done is done. All he had to do now was to lessen the blow at his pride by getting ahold of himself quickly. An alpha King couldn’t be acting up over something so trivial.
Who cared what she did anyway? Whatever she and Liam does in their time was their business. With that being said, why did he feel so angry about it all? Why was he so angry that she treated him indifferently but was so fond of Liam that she even allowed him to touch her while knowing full well what she was doing?
“Yeah, I’m Damon so what?” He raised his voice defensively, brows angrily risen as he stared at her.
Sarah’s heart stopped. ‘How long has he been in control?’… was the first question that came to her mind. All along she had thought that she was with Liam, and now, she happens to find out that Damon’s the one in control. How could she not have seen when they shifted control?… or could it be that Liam was not present to begin with?
As soon as that thought drifted into her head, Sarah slapped her hand over her mouth and immediately shuffled out of his lap, her eyes frantic with surprise and agitation. If Liam was never in control then that would mean that the person she said those embarrassing things to yesterday…. was Damon?
“Have y-you—Have y-you been in c-control from the s-start?” Her lips barely parted to mumble out soft words as she was too embarrassed to even speak properly. “Is t-that the r-reason why y-you kept t-talking about Damo–I mean y-yourself?”
“Is that what you’re worried about? Even though I wasn’t the one in control I can hear and see everything anyway.” He rolled his eyes when he saw her eyes widen drastically. “Serves you right. You shouldn’t have preferences when that mutt and I live in the same body.”
“But s-still, the day i-isn’t over yet.” Sarah couldn’t keep her hand still due to the uneasiness that planted itself within her. “You s-said you’d let h-him have control for t-two days!”
At first, it seemed as if he had nothing to say in response to that, but then a few seconds later, his face hardened. “I took back control when Liam decided to step out of his bounds. He should know when to stop, don’t you think? My life has nothing to do with him nor you… so you shouldn’t poke your nose in my business if you want to live a long life.”
Sarah was completely taken aback by his words. ‘… if you want to live along life’ What exactly did he mean by that? And what was so ‘confidential’ that he had to resort to threatening her?
She pursed her lips. Back when he said he would give her anything, a small part of her wished that he actually meant that, that he sincerely wanted to reconcile, that he actually felt some sort of guilt…. But that obviously wasn’t the case. Because despite finding out that she wasn’t working with that rogue, his behaviour towards her didn’t change. He didn’t care about her life… he didn’t care about her. And that was why he could easily say something like that with such an impassive face.
“It’s not like I WANTED to know anything about you.” Sarah murmured, her voice strangely devoid of emotion. “Your business is your business and my business is my business.” And with that, she spun around and walked out, slamming the wooden door behind her.

Sarah paced back and forth in her room. She totally didn’t regret what she said nor walking out on Damon, but she couldn’t stop herself from worrying since she had no idea what he’d do the next time he spots her. If he was angry then she’d definitely be doomed. No questions asked.
But was he? He didn’t look angry when she walked out, he seemed rather surprised. And it wasn’t much different for her, in fact, she was even more surprised than him. Yes, she knew what she was saying, but she never thought she had the guts to say it aloud. Anger definitely makes you do things that you’d never actually do.
Sarah sighed, halting her steps and falling back against her soft mattress. Ever since their little disagreement, Damon hadn’t even bothered to check if she’s dead or alive. A few moments ago, he stormed pass her room and went in the direction of Trixie and Haguy’s room. And now it’s been over fifteen minutes since they’ve been in there. Did she even have to ask what they were doing? There could only be one possible reason why he’d entered the room of his sex-slaves.
The thought of them getting it on was highly disturbing but Sarah couldn’t control what kind of images her mind channeled. And neither could she control the sudden sharp twinge in her chest.
Rolling over unto her stomach, Sarah ran a hand over her face and sighed for a second time. An headache was coming on, she could feel it… because instead of coming to check up on her and maybe apologize for being a dick, he was kissing faces with Trixie and Haguy in the other room. Now she could definitely see why they gave him the clerical tittle of ruthless.
The loud sound of something smashing caused Sarah to jerk in surprise. She quickly sat up in the bed and brushed her hair out of her face, her brows furrowing as she frowned. Did something happen? He did storm over to their room as if he was going to crush someone’s face, so perhaps he wasn’t doing the deed like she thought but something worse? He wouldn’t take his anger out on those poor girls, would he? Or was it that they’re in such a rush to relieve themselves that they happen to bounce over a few things?
With a deep breath Sarah slipped off the bed and tiptoed out the door, heading in the direction of their room. “I’ll just take a peek… just to make sure that he isn’t beating them half to death.” She whispered to herself.
When she reached, the door was thankfully left ajar, leaving a small space for her to peep through. Bending slightly, Sarah pressed one of her hands against the wall and angled her head so she was staring right at them.
The sight that greeted her wasn’t one she expected. They definitely weren’t having sex and neither were they having an all out brawl. They were just standing there talking about something that would’ve never popped into her mind.
“So lets get this straight…” Trixie said, folding her arms across her chest as she looked at Damon’s dishevelled form. “… You were trying to fix things and you actually ended up making it worse?”
“Precisely.” He nodded. “So what should I do? You both have that same stupid human mentality so you must know what she wants.”
Sarah blinked, almost losing her balance. Human mentality!? So he was looking for a solution for their problems… THEIR PROBLEMS?! Why would he do that when he acted as if he had no care in the world? If she thought about it carefully, then this situation would be kind of funny. A few seconds ago, she was busy accusing him of not caring about her and sleeping with his slaves, but in truth, he was here trying to get some advice on what to do. Who would’ve thought?
“Apologize. It’s as simple as that.” Haguy piped in casually as she gnawed at her nails, drawing Sarah’s attention over to her. She was sitting on the edge of the bed with her feet dangling while Trixie was standing closely beside her. “And maybe bring her a couple of flowe-”
“Did you just tell me to apologize to a mere human?” Damon cut her off. He was now glaring daggers in her direction.
Haguy stiffened at his words, her eyes going wide and her lips quickly moulding themselves tightly together. Trixie who seemed just as uneasy, slapped her upside the head and laughed awkwardly. “Haguy doesn’t know what she’s saying. You can’t possibly stoop as low as to apologize to anyone. You are, after all, the Alpha King. She’d have to be the moon goddess to get an apology out of you.” She did her best to try and soothe him but that only seemed to make Damon’s frown deepen.
“Are you insinuating that she’s of lesser importance than the stupid moon goddess?”
Haguy quickly shuffled to fix her mistake. “No, I would never! I just doubt that you’re capable of saying the word ‘sorry’ to a human.”
Damon pursed his lips and straightened his shoulders. “There isn’t anything in this world that I’m not capable of doing.”
Sarah could see the way his jaw ticked and his fingers twitched slightly. And she easily realized that once again, he was angry over something very petty. Since she wasn’t the one who his anger was directed at, she couldn’t deny that she felt the sudden urge to laugh at him.
“Ah I see.” Trixie and Haguy said simultaneously. They gave each other a short glance then looked back over at Damon, both appearing very unconvinced by his words.
“Try it out then.” Haguy abruptly suggested after a moment of complete silence. Trixie’s head snapped in her direction, wide eyes asking her the silent question: ‘what the hell?!’
Damon on the other hand, was tongue-tied due to her request and because of that, sweat started to roll down the side of his face. He opened his mouth to mutter that one word which he had never said in his life, but nothing escaped his lips besides air. Again, he tried… and this time he only managed to mutter the two first syllables before his tongue became heavy. He ran a hand over his face. What was he even doing right now? An alpha King should never have to apologize… he made that rule himself. So what was the use in trying to force it out of his own mouth? And how stupid could he possibly look right now for even attempting?
Flipping a ringlet of his hair to the back, Damon gritted out the first thing that came to mind, his anger multiplying at each word, “Why would I ‘try it out’ for no reason?!”
Sarah’s eyes slitted suspiciously as she stared at him. Despite his hard effort to hide it, it was obvious to her that he had absolutely no experience with things such as apologizing and neither did he want that experience. He seemed to even dread the very word ‘sorry’ judging by the way he cringed when Trixie said it.
‘So it wasn’t that he didn’t want to apologize… it’s because he’s never had to apologize why he doesn’t even think to do it?’ Sarah’s lip turned up at her own thought without her even realizing it.
“I asked you one question, ONE simple question!” Damon started up again. “… and up until now, I haven’t received a good answer. What’s the use of having you both wasting food and taking up space when you know absolutely nothing!?”
“I’m sorry, Alp-” Trixie tried to apologize, but he cut her off before she could even finish her sentence.
“Just get out!”
“But this is our room,” Haguy mumbled softly, quickly shifting her eyes to the floor when Damon’s glare turned in her direction. Trixie slapped her upside the head once again and scowled at her before she continued to apologize profusely. “I’m sorry, Alpha! I’m so–”
Again, she was cut off before she finished, but this time, it wasn’t Damon’s raging voice that caused her to halt her words… instead, it was the soft giggle that didn’t come from anyone inside the room.
….. And it wasn’t until all eyes turned to Sarah’s peeping form, that she knew the giggle came from her own mouth.
