MALIA’S POV
It was approximately an hour after he left when a knock sounded on my door, I knew who it was without even answering the door but I did get up anyway, to confirm my theory.
“Hey, fancy seeing you around” I waved enthusiastically at Ronan, who wore a smile brighter than the departing sun.
“Apologies for keeping you waiting. I had to hand-pick this because I thought you would appreciate it. Ladies love flowers right?” He scratched the back of his head with a bit of nervousness, which to me, was cute.
“Why, of course, ladies love flowers and above all, I am obsessed with red roses” I said, easing him off the load by collecting it from his hand and walking back into my room. He followed after as the door was widely ajar.
I gently dropped them inside the empty flower vase on the coffee table and veered around to face him, a natural smile playing on my lips.
“Oh gracious, this was so nice of you and I greatly appreciate it, I tell you” I weaved my hands around to demonstrate my appreciation while he just stood there grinning merrily.
“I am pleased you liked it. I was pressed between a materialistic gift and this and last minute I decided to go for a flower” He shrugged and I could tell how proud he was of himself that he was able to please me. It was all over his tone.
“Great!” I exclaimed caressing my hands together.
“Now, the dinner” my words were filled with anticipation.
“Yeah about that” He scratched the back of his head again. “We will have to step outside the palace. Hope you are not against that, I mean I will understand if you are, as this is your first day here”
“Are you kidding me!? It is an honor that I have to go outside the palace on my first day of arrival. A very appreciated honor at that, Thank you” I held onto my gown with both hands and then bowed curtly at him as a display of respect.
“Well then, what are we waiting for? Let’s set the sail and dive into the wild” In a blink of an eye, he was in front of me, holding onto my hand and gently dragging me out of the room.
I was going to build a healthy relationship with this man, I knew it then and there.
Instead of taking a cab, Ronan decided that it would be more adventurous to go on foot as I would have the opportunity to see and learn about lots of places. Which was exactly what happened.
So far, I could tell that this pack values their traditions more than any other thing and despite the coming of civilization, they still held onto these traditions.
For illustration, most werewolves were in their wolf forms, going on their daily activities. The ones who weren’t were either completely lacking clothing for the children or wearing a minimal for the adults.
“I must say, the pack is extremely better than I expected” I mumbled as I fought with the air to keep my hair out of my face as it was hell bent on splashing it all over me.
“I am glad you find the pack intriguing. These are just the basic places. If you find this place beautiful, I can’t wait for you to see the real stunning spots” He responded, his hands toasted lazily into his pocket as he walked beside me.
“But I gather the setting in the palace is slightly different from that of the pack, correct?” I inquired.
“In what sense do you mean?”
“I haven’t visited a lot of places around the pack but from the places that I have been, I didn’t see a single wolf in sight unlike out here and the dress code is also….”
“Yeah, yeah the palace had setting rules that can be bridged when you are out of it” He confirmed my thesis.
“I see”
We continued to stroll around town, taking shortcuts while I followed beside him until we finally reached our destination.
“This has been my favorite place to dine for decades. Their food is top-notch” He stated as we approached a moderately sized eatery.
The name “Mary’s” was written boldly at the
top of the building, showing and lighting the darkness around it.
“I hope it becomes mine too” I muttered in anticipation as we stepped into the building. The workers beaming with familiarity at him was enough confirmation that he had been here a number of times in his life.
“Oh, I bet it will” He waved that point around with so much confidence like he knew I was going to like the food.
He was right.
I loved the food. Not only the food, I loved every little thing about the place. From its food, to the staff and down to the contenting service they offered.
I was always used to staff wearing such robotic forced smile that never reached their eyes. But here, they were happy doing their job, moving between customers with so much enthusiasm, and honestly, the energy was robbed of anyone who visited.
“I am going to give you time to decide for yourself if you have anything negative to say about the meal” He arched his brows like he was presenting a challenge before me.
“I will have to hand it over to you honestly” I smiled. “This place, their food, is absolute heaven. Top-notch I would say”
“I told you s….”
He was interrupted by a waiter who had come to clear the table.
“Sorry for breaking in, I will need to clear the table so you can have enough room for conversation” She spoke.
“No issues Lilie” He replied.
“Thank you Beta, I hope your new friend here enjoyed the meal?” She asked darting at me.
“Wait, what?” I exclaimed, my gaze zeroing in on him. “You are a Beta?” I pointed to him and waited for a reply.
