“Tommy, that was really rude.” She said as he carried her into their room.
“They’re our guests.” She added and he grunted noncommittally
“They don’t need to be coddled, they are not pups.” He said as he lay her on the bed.
“But I need to make the tea for them so they can sleep well.” She tried to protest, but she knew it was pointless because of the look in his eyes, the hunger and need. The soft glow of his iris was proof that both man and wolf wanted to devour her.
“They can wait till after I’m done ravaging you.” He growled as he pinned her to the bed with his weight and the sound made a shiver run through her body.
“It’s your fault for smelling so good.” He parted her legs and nuzzled her neck. He flicked his tongue over her pulse point and she arched into him.
“So responsive.” He murmured against her skin as he slowly peeled off every layer of clothing on her till she was completely bare to him.
“Tommy!” She gasped as his lips latched on to her nipple and her hand held on to his hair. One hand pinched her other nipple and the other moved down between them to her soaked centre. She moaned as he played with her body while he stripped till she was delirious with pleasure.
“Tommy, please.” He brought her close to the edge so many times, but didn’t let her fall over like she wanted to. He growled and buried himself to the hilt inside her in one hard thrust. That was what triggered her orgasm. She clung to him tightly as her whole body quivered, her nails digging into his back. Her walls clenched around him like a fist and the feeling made his eyes roll to the back of his head as he began to pound into her.
They weren’t quiet, and with their enhanced sense of hearing, any wolf in the vicinity would know what they were doing. But he didn’t mind, let them hear so they would know that she was his alone.
They had already marked each other when they copulated the first time, bonding them to each other for life. But she felt the overwhelming urge to sink her teeth into her male, so she didn’t hold back. He groaned loudly as she latched on to his neck and her canines pierced his skin. His thrusts became jerky as he spilled his warm seed into her. They lay together, tangled in each other’s arms as their racing hearts slowed.
Minutes later, they both got into the shower to clean up and he had her again with her hands braced on the wall, water streaming over their bodies. It was almost an hour later before they both left the room so she could make the tea she promised to.
The phone by the side of the bed rang and he rolled over to answer the call. The curtains on the windows were shut so it was dark in the room, but his internal clock told him it was early morning. Maggie’s tea had worked. This was the first uninterrupted sleep he had had in a while. He didn’t hear the strange voice or the prophecy as usual.
“Hello.”
“Hayden, you’re here.” Thomas said.
“So am I.” Carson mumbled before he could reply, it seemed to be a conference call. “This is the first time I’ve slept so peacefully in a week. There better be a good reason for this call.”
“What’s the problem Thomas?” Keith asked.
“All of you, look outside your window.” Thomas said and he moved to the window. From the shuffling in the background, he knew the others were doing same too.
“Beautiful sunrise.” Vance said at the same time that Raymond said. “It’s just the mountains I see.”
“Look again.” Thomas said.
“You guys, the shadows of the mountains align, all eight of them.” Margaret quipped, not giving them the chance to figure it out by themselves.
“It probably happens every day when the sun is positioned just right.” Jerald said.
“No, I look at these mountains every morning, watch the sunrise everyday. This hasn’t happened before. It happening today can’t just be a coincidence.” Thomas said.
“And remember, the prophecy says ‘Do not despise the power of eight’.” Margaret said.
“It also says ‘Where a shadow is cast’.”
“It’s worth a shot.” Hayden said.
“Everyone meet me outside. Let’s go now before the position shifts.” He said and the call was disconnected. They jogged together to the mountains at the edge of full moon pack’s territory.
“So what now? Are we supposed to start digging or what?” Carson asked.
“Maybe we’re just supposed to come here when the moon rises.” Thomas replied.
“Am I the only one noticing that the shadows don’t align anymore?” Margaret asked.
“The sun’s position has probably shifted.” Vance said.
“That could be the reason, or…” She trailed off.
“Or what?”
“Or it’s like a jigsaw puzzle that needs the other missing pieces to be complete. Each of you, stand in a way that your shadow aligns with the light spaces between each mountain.” As she said that, they moved. When they were all in position, the formation made a symbol and she gasped.
“I saw this when I was trying to remember the other lines of the prophecy. I told you I see a symbol, right?” She said.
“Yes you did. Do you know what it means?”
“I can’t remember.” She said as she massaged each side of her forehead with two fingers each.
“Are you okay Maggie?” Thomas asked as he came to stand beside her.
“I’m fine, just a slight headache.” She said and he put his arms around her.
“Something like this always happens when you try to remember something from your past.” He frowned.
“Every detail is important for this quest, so I need to remember as much as I can.”
“I don’t like seeing you hurting.” He said as he put his forehead on hers.
“I know Tommy. I feel better when you’re close, so just hold me, it will pass.”
“Let’s head back. We all need to shower and then eat.” Thomas said, and as he put his arms around her to pick her up, she gasped.
“I remember.”
