Finally after my tiring day I am finally back to my comfort zone and be myself again. I took off my shoes and sat on my couch. I needed rest so badly but I know I have to double work so I can meet my goal why I am here in this place where I should have been long time back.
I am tired living behind my shadow and this is the right time to face my past.
I closed my eyes and recalled my whole scheduled today. I took a deep breath and smiled. “What a tiring day.”
A laid down my body on the couch. Suddenly Denyx appeared in my mind. I saw he was surprised when Elle came in at the conference room when I was there. But I must admit that deep inside I was hurt seeing how close they were especially when Elle’s hands snake on Denyx neck.
I opened my eyes and shook my head.
“It can’t be happening right? I don’t feel anything for him. I am just doing this play because I need to know about what happened to the past.” I talked to my self.
After some time I got up and brought myself into my room. I opened my closet and took a pair of pajamas. I went to the bathroom removed my clothes and took a shower. After done my shower I wrapped myself a towel and brushed my teeth then put on my pajamas. I settled my self in bed laying on my back facing on the ceiling while hugging my pillow. I remembered I have to call my dad as I promised to him back again when I reached home. I reached out my right hand on the tablet side to get my phone. I dialed my father’s number and the line rang. It doesn’t take few ringing when my dad answered the call.
“Hello dad.”
“Hi sweetheart I’m glad you called me again.”
“I’m sorry for calling you this hour. I had a busy day and I know you’re waiting for my call.”
“It’s alright sweetheart as long as your still eating and sleeping I can wait.”
“Dad!”
“Relax I’m just joking!” He laughed
“I know dad, don’t worry I won’t forget to rest and eat.”
“That’s my girl!”
I sighed and ask him
“Hmmm dad? Can I ask you something?”
“Yes, what is it sweetheart?”
“Ahmmm, what if the car accident happened to us wasn’t an accident?”
There’s a silent between us and I heard my dad’s deep breath.
” Why are you asking this all of the sudden Anna?”
For a very long time he called me with this name again. I felt alive inside me again. I closed my eyes and there were silence again.
“Dad I just want to know how the accident happened.”
“Sweetheart I only have you left and I can’t compromised anything when it comes to your safety.”
” Dad I understand but part of me is seeking an answer about my past and I couldn’t run away for the rest of my life.”
“I know… I know.. and the thing I am scared the most is now, when you started asking about that accident.”
“I’m sorry dad I know you’re worried but I hope you understand right?”
“Of course sweetheart I understand that. I think you’re right, we have to face it wether I like it or not. I will be coming there tomorrow because I need to tell you something and I think you deserve to know the truth.”
“What do you mean by that dad?”
“Let’s talk about it when I reach there. It’s about time to comeback to Los Angeles. It’s been two decades I neglected the past.”
“Are you sure about going here? I mean I can come home to Boston any time you don’t have to travel.”
“Sweetheart it’s okay, this is the right time and you deserve to know it where the accident happened and Los Angeles is the place. I don’t want to run away anymore because I am getting older now. You need your life back after all.”
“Thank you dad. I’ll call Kat to book you a ticket now.”
“You don’t have to, I’ll tell my assistant to book our ticket. I’ll see you tomorrow sweetheart.”
“Okay dad. Thank you for everything. It mean a lot for me.”
“No sweetheart I should have done this long time ago, but I guess I was scared to loose you but now I am certain that you won’t have a life without knowing your past. Let’s finish this conversation tomorrow. You need to rest.”
“Thank you dad I owed you everything. Good night and I love you.”
“Good night sweetheart and I love you more than anything in this world.”
I hanged up the call. I felt relieved that finally dad and I can talk about the past. I’ve been waiting for this moment of my life. I tried to avoid everything about my past but my life is somehow lack of something. I have to fixed it in order to move forward in the future. I put my phone back on the table.
I closed my eyes and fell asleep right away as I was tired the whole day of working.

After the three of us finished our supper we had an chocolate ice cream dessert which is my mom’s favorite. I watched her putting every bite in her mouth and I smiled. It’s been awhile we haven’t bond like this. After my father died and she got married to Mike we barely see each other. I am a busy business man too and my like was been focused on my work.
She wiped her lips after her last bite as me and Alex waited for her to finish. Alex also has been like her son my assistant but we never treated him like others but our own family.
“So the two of you have something to tell me right?” My mom asked
“Yes mother, a very important thing that you need to know.” I replied
“It seems like very much. So what is it then?” She asked
“Mom I didn’t intend to hurt you but you have to know the truth even it will hurt you.” I told her and I took out the envelope and handed it over to her.
“Here it is, open it.”
She took the envelope on my hand and opened it. When she took out the files she gasped while her hand is covering her mouth. I can tell how surprised and angry she was, at the same time. I gave her time to absorb the news she discovered.
“That bastard he killed my friend and her daughter. I won’t forgive him for what he did to them.” My mom said in a very furious face.
“Mom you’re not defending Mike?” I asked her
“No son, I never told you this but Mike and I are not in a good state. I filed a divorce 3 months back because he was cheating on me. He live in the mansion but in different room we are not sharing the same room anymore after I found out that he is a cheater. Then this news? It’s too much. How could he?”
“I’m so sorry to hear these things that’s going on with you mom. Why you didn’t tell me? At least I can be with you at the toughest time of year life.”
“It’s okay son, I am old enough to handle it on my own and besides it was my choice to marry that skunk man. What are you going to do now that you know what he did?”
“First don’t tell him what you’ve known about his crime. I need to find uncle Arthur as fast as possible. He has the right to file the case against Mike. He need to know that Mrs. Mc len and Anna’s death wasn’t just an accident but it was planned.”
“I agree with that.” Mom replied
“I am also working on it. I hired an investigator to find Mr. Arthur Mc len.” Alex said.
“That’s great then it’s been 2 decades I haven’t seen him nor any news with his life. He just disappeared after his wife and daughter’s death.” Mom said
“Yes, and that’s the reason we have to be careful and pretend that we know nothing until we can find uncle Arthur. Mom you have to deal with Mike while living with him. You can’t tell him about this matter until we will find Mr. Arthur. This a very serious matter.” I told my mom
“I understood son. Don’t worry I won’t mention anything to Mike. I will try to avoid him as much as I can.”
“I also hired a private bodyguards for you ma’am. They’re your shadow bodyguards. It means you can talk to them and they won’t come closer to you but they’ll watch and follow you wherever you’ll go.” Alex explained
“Yes, I can’t compromised your safety mom so we need to give you a private bodyguards, you might be uncomfortable but it will just temporary while Mike is not yet arrested.”
“If that’s make things easier for you son, I don’t see any problem with that.” Mom agreed
I called for our bill and paid it.
“We will send you home mom. Let’s go.”
We left the restaurant and Alex drove us to the mansion to drop my mother.
“We’ve reached ma’am sir.” He got out from the driver seat and opened the passenger door. I gave my mother a kiss on her left cheek and hug her.
“Good night mom and I love you.”
She hugged me back and gave me a kiss on my forehead. ” Good night son and take care.” She got down and said. “Thank you Alex and good night. Please drive safely.”
“Thank you ma’am and good night too. Take care as well. Alex replied.
“I’ll call you tomorrow mom and you’re welcome to visit in our company anytime.”
“Yes, I will soon son. Bye..”
“Bye mom.”
Alex and I drove back to my apartment as our daily routine he will drop me to my apartment before going back home.
“Sir we’re here.” I was in my deep thoughts that I didn’t realized we’ve reached my building apartment.
I owned two flats here in Laurence building A. I often come here though I also owned a big house in a villa where I love spending my time swimming alone in my swimming pool. But today I chose to stay here because whenever I have problems to solve I usually sat on the terrace to see the busy city of Los Angeles at night.
I got down from the car and walk to the door of the building. The guard opened the door for me.
“Good evening Mr. Moore.” Smiled the guard
“Good evening too.” I smiled back.
I walked towards the lift and pressed the button up.
“Ding…” The lift opened. I went inside and press the 20th floor. I owned the whole floor which there is 2 flats. One is my personal space and the other is for rent. But my assistant Alex mange the renting and the lease is under his name though I am the owner.
Room 2001 is my personal space and room 2002 is for rent. I heard from Alex that someone is renting the space which is under the name of Jerome Mack. I don’t have time and interest to know and meet him because I trust Alex of it and besides the money from the rent goes to Alex sister’s education. I paid for his sister’s education since Alex is my loyal assistant and he never complain about his work no matter hard and heavy it is.
“Ding…” The lift opened on the 20th floor. I looked at on room 2002 but it seems very quiet the tenant must sleeping, it’s already 30 minutes past 11 o’clock in the night.
I swiped my card on the door and the door of my apartment opened. I turned on the light and took off my shoes. I went to my room, take off my clothes and went for a shower. After I was done with my shower I dried my body with towel and put on my boxer. I laid down on my bed and fell asleep.
