After an exhausted day. I hurriedly took a bath when I arrived in my apartment.
I put on my nighties after my bath and laid down myself in bed.
I laid down facing the ceiling and staring on it. I look like emotionless.
My heart is very uncomfortable.
“Why I felt so alone without him?” I asked myself.
I like the way he showed his gentle care.
But the reality snapped my though back thinking that I have a goal to fulfill.
I turned my body to the left side where the drawer was.
I pulled it opened and took out my wallet where my mom’s picture with me and dad.
I touched my photo with my mom and dad then tears start to fall.
“Mom I really missed you. I wish your here with me and I don’t have to do all these lies. I know you wouldn’t allow me to do this but I’m sorry this is the only way I can give you justice.” I cried.
“Dad and I never stop loving you. One day I’ll bring you to Parish with me okay? I never forget that promised you made on that day they took you away from us. I love you so much mom and it’s still hurts me of not being around anymore.”
It hurts me so bad of my mom’s death. Everyday I live with my longing to her love and the revenge can only give me peace.
I hugged our photo while crying and I fell asleep with tears.
My alarm rang at six o’clock sharp.
I was still holding mom’s photo on my hand and it is pressed on my chest.
I lifted our family photo. I smiled and kiss it.
I put it back in my wallet.
I get up in my bed and went to the bathroom. After brushing my teeth I showered and walked out from the bathroom.
I took out a red dress and put it on.
Paired with my black handbag and black shoes.
I was satisfied with my look looking on the mirror. After dressing up my self I went to the kitchen and toast a bread and made my egg omelette.
I made coffee after I was done with my cooking.
I ate silently when my phone rang. I picked up my phone and it was Jerome.
“Good morning buddy”
“Good morning honey pie. How are you?”
” Better than yesterday. My plan is actually working.” I smiled
” That’s good to hear honey but I am still worried of your safety.”
” I know buddy but you know that all my life I’ve been searching for justice and now that I actually almost reach it I can’t just turn back. ”
” Chloe I’m serious. I’m not happy being you around that man all the time. What if something happens unexpectedly huh? I can’t face uncle Arthur of that. ”
” Hey buddy calm down I won’t let something happens. I promise I will be very careful. Give me three months to find a solid evidence then I will go back to Boston and reveal my true identity but for now I need you to understand me please. ”
” Already honey pie just three months. Otherwise I can’t tolerate and guarantee your safety anymore. Cruel people can’t wait to kill their enemies so please be careful.”
” Thank you buddy. I know it’s hard for you as well but you’re seemed a brother to me not just a best friend and I trust you more than anyone else.”
” Okay, okay, I want your safety only because I care for you and uncle Arthur. You know exactly that I can’t refuse you. I’ll see you down in your apartment building in 10 minutes.”
” Alright I’m about to go too. See you then.”
I cleaned my table and grabbed my bag and keys then walked out from my apartment. When I went out from the building I saw Jerome standing next to the car waiting for me.
” Good morning honey pie. ”
He smiled and open the door for me.
“Good morning buddy.”
I slid my body inside the car and he closed the door.
After that he walked to the opposite side of the door and went inside and sat next to me.
“Good morning Mr. Greg”
“Good morning Ms. Chloe.”
We drove to Johnson company not long enough when we arrived.
Jerome and I went straight to our own offices.
When I was signing the documents my office phone suddenly rang. I picked up the phone.
“Hello.”
“Hello Ms. Chloe I just want to remind you that you have a meeting at eleven o’clock in the Moore Corporation.”
“Okay Kat, I still have one hour left to go. Can you please tell Jerome to come here in my office?”
“Okay I will do.”
“Thanks Kat.”
After awhile I heard the knocked on my office door.
“Come in please.”
The door was pushed opened but I didn’t look up to see who is coming because I was expecting Jerome. I kept my head down looking on the documents.
“Hi, honey pie still busy huh?” He walked closer to my table and sat on the chair in the front.
“Yeah, I have to finish some of these documents. Can you please revise some of these documents for me? I took a note the details that need a changes.”
I didn’t bother to look at him and Jerome was watching me.
“Okay, leave these things to me. I’ll do it today.”
“Yes, please. I need to finish these revisions because I need some changes for Christmas. My Advertising company ni Boston need some changes.”
” Okay I’ll make sure that it will be done today.”
” Thank you buddy and I need you to fly in Boston tomorrow night and be there in Johnson Company on Friday.
The annual financial report meeting will be on that day too. I want you to check the status personally.”
” Okay that’s not a problem but how about you? Leaving you here is not safe.”
” Don’t worry about me, I can handle here. Katy is here don’t forget our super secretary and errands. ” I smiled
” Well you know what is best. ”
” Besides I’m feeling guilty for Liz. Bringing you here with me is a disadvantage for your relationship with each other. You spend the weekend with her. ”
” Are you sure about that honey? ”
I rolled my eyes.
” Of course what else it could be? You knew me ever since that I am focusing only with my goal so nothing to worry about. ”
He shrugged his shoulders
” But still be careful honey. Anytime you need my help don’t hesitate to call me. ”
I rolled my eyes again and look at him with a serious expression. I raised my hands on the air.
” Fine fine… Seriously I can manage my self.” He sighed deeply because he knew he can’t convince me to retreat.
“If you really made up your mind about this, all I can do is to support you.”
He felt sad for I know he cared for me all these time.
“Give Liz a big hug and kiss for me when see her. Tell her I do really missed my best friend. You too have a good time.”
“Yes, surely I will do that. I’m going to see uncle Arthur too.”
I looked at him happily
” Thank you buddy your presence is really important for dad. I know he is against of all these things I planned but I know one day he will understand when I am ready to tell him.”
“Just take care honey, I know you’re a strong woman and I trust you but to those people who wanted to harm you I have no trust with them.”
He looked at me with a very serious face.
“I know that’s why I have to make Denyx close and fall for me so when he trusted me enough I can dig more information.”
“Okay, just as I said be careful because it is really dangerous plan.”
I handed him the documents that I needed him to work on.
” I’ll go ahead now. I have a meeting to Denyx I need to be there on time. I will be back for lunch, I’ll ask Katy to order food for us and bring it to my penthouse. I will see you for lunch.”
He stood up and reached the documents facing me .
” Okay honey, take care. See you later.”
I watched him walking out of my office and I am glad I have a best friend who really I can trust with.
I looked at my watch and it’s thirty minutes before eleven o’clock.
I took a deep breath and stood up. I grabbed my hand bag on the table and walked out in my office.
I stopped by at Katy’s cubicle and told her.
“Kat order food for our lunch later and bring it to my penthouse. I’ll be back for lunch after the meeting.”
“Okay Ms. Chloe I will. Good luck for your meeting. See you later.”
“Thanks Kat.”
I went down and saw Mr. Greg waiting for me. He opened the car and I came in inside the car.
“Mr. Greg to Moore Corporation building please.”
“Okay Ms. Chloe.”
I decided to call my dad on my way because I haven’t call him for two days. I dialed his number and soon he picked up the my call.
“Good morning dad, how are you?”
“Good morning sweetie. I’m glad you still remember your old man. It’s been two days you know?”
“Dad, I’m sorry I was just busy and been doing so many things to finish. We just expanded here and you know there are so many things to be settles. ”
” I know sweetie that’s why I’m not bothering you. ”
” It’s not like that dad, you’re never a bother to me. I wish you could be here with me but I know I can’t change your mind.” He took a deep breath
“That place alway reminded me of your mom’s memories sweetie and I am not ready yet.”
“I understand dad, it’s been two decades but still it hurts.”
“Let’s not talk about that sweetie. Take care there.”
“Ok dad, I’ll call tonight. I love you.”
“Love you sweetie please give me a grandchild soon. ”
” Dad please!”
” I’m just saying what can I do? I’m getting old now.”
” Not now okay?”
” Fine but please sweetie you should at least consider having a relationship.”
” Bye dad. I’ll call you again tonight.”
” Okay, okay bye.”
I smiled when I ended the call. I shook my head with my dad’s words.
